Philippians 2:19–3:1

19
But I [Paul] trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.
20
For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.
21
For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.
22
But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.
23
Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me.
24
But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.

25
Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.
26
For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.
27
For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
28
I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.
29
Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation:
30
because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.

3:
1
Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed
is
not grievous, but for you
it is
safe.

Psalm 73:1-28

A Psalm of Asaph.

1
 Truly God
is
good to Israel,
even
to such as are of a clean heart.

2
But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.

3
For I was envious at the foolish,
when
I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

4
 For
there are
no bands in their death: but their strength
is
firm.

5
 They
are
not in trouble
as other
men; neither are they plagued like
other
men.

6
Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them
as
a garment.

7
Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.

8
They are corrupt, and speak wickedly
concerning
oppression: they speak loftily.

9
They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.

10
Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full
cup
are wrung out to them.

11
And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?

12
 Behold, these
are
the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase
in
riches.

13
Verily I have cleansed my heart
in
vain, and washed my hands in innocency.

14
For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.

15
If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend
against
the generation of thy children.

16
When I thought to know this, it
was
too painful for me;

17
 Until I went into the sanctuary of God;
then
understood I their end.

18
Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.

19
 How are they
brought
into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.

20
 As a dream when
one
awaketh;
so,
O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.

21
Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.

22
 So foolish
was
I, and ignorant: I was
as
a beast before thee.

23
 Nevertheless I
am
continually with thee: thou hast holden
me
by my right hand.

24
Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me
to
glory.

25
 Whom have I in heaven
but thee?
and
there is
none upon earth
that
I desire beside thee.

26
My flesh and my heart faileth:
but
God
is
the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

27
For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.

28
 But
it is
good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord G
OD
, that I may declare all thy works.

Proverbs 24:13-14

13
My son, eat thou honey, because
it is
good; and the honeycomb,
which is
sweet to thy taste:

14
 So
shall
the knowledge of wisdom
be
unto thy soul: when thou hast found
it,
then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

Isaiah 66:1-24

1
 Thus saith the L
ORD
, The heaven
is
my throne, and the earth
is
my footstool: where
is
the house that ye build unto me? and where
is
the place of my rest?

2
 For all those
things
hath mine hand made, and all those
things
have been, saith the L
ORD
: but to this
man
will I look,
even
to
him that is
poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

3
 He that killeth an ox
is as if
he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb,
as if
he cut off a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation,
as if he offered
swine's blood; he that burneth incense,
as if
he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.

4
I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose
that
in which I delighted not.

5
Hear the word of the L
ORD
, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the L
ORD
be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.

6
A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the L
ORD
that rendereth recompence to his enemies.

7
Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child.

8
Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day?
or
shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.

9
Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the L
ORD
: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut
the womb?
saith thy God.

10
Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her:

11
That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.

12
 For thus saith the L
ORD
, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon
her
sides, and be dandled upon
her
knees.

13
As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

14
 And when ye see
this,
your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the L
ORD
shall be known toward his servants, and
his
indignation toward his enemies.

15
 For, behold, the L
ORD
will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

16
For by fire and by his sword will the L
ORD
plead with all flesh: and the slain of the L
ORD
shall be many.

17
They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one
tree
in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the L
ORD
.

18
 For I
know
their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.

19
And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations,
to
Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow,
to
Tubal, and Javan,
to
the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.

20
And they shall bring all your brethren
for
an offering unto the L
ORD
out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the L
ORD
, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the L
ORD
.

21
And I will also take of them for priests
and
for Levites, saith the L
ORD
.

22
For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the L
ORD
, so shall your seed and your name remain.

23
And it shall come to pass,
that
from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the L
ORD
.

24
And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

Philippians 3:2-21

2
Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.
3
For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
4
Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:
5
circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel,
of
the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;
6
concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.

7
But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
8
Yea doubtless, and I count all things
but
loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them
but
dung, that I may win Christ,
9
and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
10
 that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
11
if by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

12
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
13
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but
this
one thing
I do,
forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

15
Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
16
Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

17
Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
18
(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping,
that they are
the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19
 whose end
is
destruction, whose God
is their
belly, and
whose
glory
is
in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
20
For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
21
who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
