Psalm 59:1-17

To the chief Musician, Al-taschith, Michtam of David; when Saul sent, and they watched the house to kill him.

1
Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.

2
Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men.

3
For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not
for
my transgression, nor
for
my sin, O L
ORD
.

4
They run and prepare themselves without
my
fault: awake to help me, and behold.

5
 Thou therefore, O L
ORD
God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah.

6
They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.

7
Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords
are
in their lips: for who,
say they,
doth hear?

8
 But thou, O L
ORD
, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.

9

Because of
his strength will I wait upon thee: for God
is
my defence.

10
The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see
my desire
upon mine enemies.

11
Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield.

12

For
the sin of their mouth
and
the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying
which
they speak.

13
 Consume
them
in wrath, consume
them,
that they
may
not
be:
and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah.

14
 And at evening let them return;
and
let them make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.

15
Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied.

16
But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.

17
Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God
is
my defence,
and
the God of my mercy.

Proverbs 11:14

14
 Where no counsel
is,
the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors
there is
safety.

 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;
37
 and she
was
a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served
God
with fastings and prayers night and day.
38
And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.

And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.

And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not

44
But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among
their
kinsfolk and acquaintance.
45
And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.
46
And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.
47
And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

48
And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

49
 And he said unto them,
How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?
50
And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.

51
And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52
And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.
