“I don’t want to hurt you. I can’t hurt you…”

“Don’t care if it stings a little bit. Need you now. Please, Ev, please…”

Evan had been avoiding touching or looking at his own cock, but he could feel it hard up against his abs, streaming pre-cum and throbbing. He had been terrified that he would never be able to do this again and a ridiculous joy flooded him making him giddy as he plunged into Jeremy desperate to reclaim him. Jeremy’s breath hitched a little bit and he winced as Evan plunged into him with absolutely no finesse
.

T
he burn quickly turned to heated pleasure as Evan began to babble words of love and set such a rapid rhythm right up against Jeremy’s prostate that the stimulation was nearly too much to bear. Jeremy thrust up against Evan and held on to him so tightly that he knew there would likely be bruises everywhere he touched his
m
aster. Neither of them cared. Jeremy came first, shouting Evan’s name like the answer to a prayer. Evan came hard and seemingly endlessly
,
collapsing into Jeremy’s arms, gasping with the relief of finally being able to escape their mutual emotional prisons.

Evan gingerly took stock of his physical condition only to find that he had no new pain. Despite indulging in unrestrained passion, his
back continued to feel fine. Both men were breathless for a few minutes and just lay in one another’s arms. And if clinging occurred no one mentioned it.

Evan looked at Jeremy’s face in the moonlight. Jeremy looked back, his face relaxed and open and his eyes full of love and trust. Evan’s cell phone buzzed and jittered across the night stand. Both men looked at the clock and noting that it was three a.m. exchanged identical looks of fear. Evan grabbed the phone.

“Evan? Sean. I’m sorry to call at this hour but I thought you’d want to know that the FBI has gotten a message from Yuri
Pleshenko
.”

“Just a minute, Sean, let me put you on speaker so Jeremy can hear, too.” Evan turned to Jeremy as he altered the phone settings.

“Sean says the FBI just got a message from Yuri
Pleshenko
.”

“Are you there?”

“Yeah, Sean, we’re both here.”

“Yuri says that his nephew acted without his approval and that nothing further will happen against James, Enterprises and he sends his apologies.”

Evan and Jeremy thought for a minute.

Evan cleared his throat. “Uh, does that even make any sense? I mean why would Boris be in the country helping Frank if Yuri didn’t know what was going on?”

“My best guess is that this is Yuri’s way of cutting Boris adrift and trying to get back on an even keel in his own organization. I wouldn’t count on being safe just yet.”

“I don’t think I’ll ever count on being safe,” Evan muttered. “So, what now?”

“Well, the feds found Frank’s body

all but his head. They had to use DNA testing to confirm his identity, but it’s him.”

“Any idea what killed him?”

“He died from falling twenty-two stories and landing on concrete. There is no evidence of foul play, but you know….people don’t just fall over stair railings.  Do you have anything you want or need to tell me, Jeremy?”

Evan stared at Jeremy his mind racing. Jeremy looked calmly back. “Nothing I want to tell you Sean.”

“Well right now it looks like the investigation will continue to come up empty. Shall I keep you informed?”

Jeremy laughed. “I’d feel better if you would.”

Sean hung up and Evan rolled to face Jeremy, eyes searching.

“You killed him?”

“Do you really want to know?”

Evan swallowed hard. “It won’t change how I feel about you in the slightest.”

Jeremy shrugged. “Somebody had to. I watched him shoot you
.
I saw you fall
.
I knew he had to go right by our door to get to the logical escape route.  I chased him on crutches and caught him at the door. I beat him and then Mark helped me throw him over the stair railing. I’m not sorry and I don’t even think about it.”

Evan relaxed against him, rubbing his cheek against Jeremy’s shoulder. “Good. I would have killed him if you hadn’t. Saved me the trouble. So, Mark cleaned up the security footage?”

“Yeah. He volunteered. Said you had been too good to him and his family not to help out.”

“I think it’s time Mark got a promotion.”

Chapter Thirty

Evan was completely and totally happy for the first time in many years. His lawsuit for damages against Lillian Rourke made huge strides now that she no longer had Frank to advise and protect her. Evan almost felt sorry for her…then he remembered Jeremy having to strip naked in public and how much pleasure Rourke had taken in mutilating him, and trying to take Jeremy away from him and his heart hardened. Other than that matter, which Sean handled without involving Evan as much as possible
,
life was better than good.

His passion for Jeremy grew and modified into something deep and rich and warm. Jeremy lit up whenever Evan came into the room and he could feel the same response in his own body and face to Jeremy’s presence. The quality of desperation went out of their relationship and settled into something comfortable, safe and completely satisfying to both men. Jeremy meant home and all things good to Evan; he would never forget Justin, but Jeremy meant everything to him now.

He should have known he couldn’t be lucky enough to just be able to live and enjoy his life. As he and Sandy were in the middle of planning a quasi-surprise party for his third anniversary with Jeremy
,
Jeff slid in through Jeremy’s connecting door obviously deeply upset. Evan went from chocolate cream cheese frosting thoughts to impending sense of doom in about twelve seconds.

“Jeff?”

“You’ve got to get Jeremy out of here, now.”

“What?”

The FBI is here.”

Evan came to his feet in alarm.

“And?”

“They have a subpoena to seize evidence against Boris
Yagudin
and Frank Owens that might go to prove involvement with the
Pleshenko
family.”

Still not getting it Evan raised an eyebrow.

“Jeremy’s on the list.”

Evan had to sit down suddenly. This could
not
be happening again. He could feel himself starting to hyperventilate, something he hadn’t done since he was twelve years old. He put his head in his hands as the gush of wetness threatened to destroy his proposed list of caterers.

“Evan?”

Jeremy stuck head in the door and yelped as Jeff jerked him the rest of the way inside Evan’s office, shutting and locking the connecting door.

Jeremy looked at Jeff in astonishment. “What the hell, Jeff?”

Sandy looked up in amazement; she had rarely heard Jeremy speak, much less as one man to another. She looked at Jeff and Jeff stared at her sternly. All kinds of realization suddenly softened her eyes and she looked at Evan in near horrified sympathy as her understanding cast a whole different light on past events. She nodded once to Jeff
.

Evan looked up and Jeremy saw his face. “Oh no, Evan; what now?”

Jeremy went to his lover, looking askance at Sandy who grinned at him with tears in her eyes. Jeremy pulled Evan up out of his chair and into his arms. Evan relaxed briefly into Jeremy’s embrace, eyes screwed tight shut, fighting his emotions. Jeremy kissed the top of his head and held him close.

Evan shook his head and wiped his eyes. A steely determined glare flared up that made Jeff very happy.

“Sandy, find them, and park them in the big conference room. Get a copy of the list and be very helpful. Tell them that Jeremy isn’t here today, that he and Jeff are auditing a target and are on the road. Jeff, get on the phone and get train tickets for you and Jeremy to Mexico.
"

“Evan….”

“Jeremy the FBI has come to take you into custody as evidence. I’m not sure what that means but I’ll call and ask Sean in a minute. I just know that nobody is ever taking you away from me again. Jeff, get in the safe and take the emergency cash. No need to let them know where you’ve gone by using plastic. Just make reservations right now, pick up the tickets at the station and pay cash for them. Don’t use your own names. If you pay cash they shouldn’t ask for ID until you get to the border. I’ll get Mark on making false identities. If we move fast enough they won’t think to even look at the borders until you’ve gotten through. Once you’re in Mexico, get a flight out to our compound in Italy.”

Jeff nodded and sat down at Evan’s desk as Evan led Jeremy over to the corner and pulled him down on the sofa. Taking a deep breath, Evan called Sean.

“Evan? I was just about to call you. I got a courtesy copy of the subpoena. I guess you’ve seen it?”

“Can they do this? Can they just take him like this? Why? For how long? Where will he be?”

“One question at a time. Yes they can do this if they think you’re not going to be able to provide sufficient security. In our favor, since Jeremy is a slave, his testimony will be less than critical
.
I would think the security footage we have of Frank’s board room maneuverings and subsequent attempt to murder you along with Jeremy’s medical records would be sufficient. I will contact Agent Pilsner as soon as we’re through here to try to get her to relent. She already knows how valuable Jeremy is to the company; but, remember; she still shot him twice. I don’t think they want him to actually testify
.
I just think they want to use him as an exhibit.”

“Sean. I’m putting you on notice in case you don’t want to represent me anymore
.
I’m not letting them take him. Never again. I’m setting up a route out of the country right now. I know that’s not what you would advise me to do, but that’s what I’m going to do. Do I still have a lawyer?”

Sean sighed. “Of course you do. Don’t give me any details. I ought to be able to stall them so hard they give up anyway. But still
,
Evan, I don’t know what to say. I’ve never seen anybody have so much trouble in so short a time period that wasn’t really their fault at all. I’m sorry.”

“I sometimes think it would just be easier to put a bullet in my head. Kick their ass, Sean. Pilsner is here now in my conference room.”

Sean snickered. “That’s good. At least the call will be recorded and I won’t have to be the one to do it. Transfer me in there.”

After checking with Sandy to be sure Agent Pilsner actually was in the conference room, Evan transferred the call. He then called Marta.

“Marta, more trouble. Get Jeremy’s leash and pack him an overnight bag with two changes of underwear and socks and some jeans and shirts. Bring his Nikes. If you come through the service hall and into my Dad’s office the back way, I’ll meet you there.”

“Mr. Evan? What now?”

“I promise I’ll tell you everything. We kind of have to get him out of here right away.”

"I'm on it."

Evan hung up and turned to face Jeremy who was white with shock.

“Evan, I don’t understand.”

Evan collapsed on Jeremy and Jeff left the room mumbling about meeting Marta in Allen’s office.
