“It didn’t hurt at all.” Gracie added with a reassuring smile.

Zeb answered for Avery, “We can go now, why not? You need to have it done anyway so might as well get it over with.” He held out his hand to help her off the sofa but didn’t release it after she was on her feet.

Gracie had also stood up by now and was being guided by Zane towards the door. “It won’t take very long for the procedure; I just can’t do it here.” All four of them made their way out of the quarters and into the cool corridor. They stopped in front of one of the transport tubes.

Gracie started to back away, “What is this thing?” A look of panic showed plainly on her face. Avery released Zeb’s hand and approached Gracie to assure her it was safe.

“It’s a transport tube. It brings you to other parts of the ship very quickly. The first time I was in it, it did give me a bit of a scare but the second time wasn’t so bad because I knew what to expect. Just hold on to Zane and you will be just fine.” She smiled at Gracie to encourage her to go ahead of them and get in the tube.

“We will be right behind you.” Zeb said.

Zane had already stepped into the tube and was waiting for Gracie. He held out his hand to her and she took it a bit reluctantly. She positioned herself as close to Zane as she could and wrapped her arms around his waist then closed her eyes. A moment later the tube shot off silently into the maze of tubes that twisted and turned throughout the ship. A tube arrived shortly after for Zeb and Avery. They also made their way into the tube but this time Avery wasn’t so scared. She took hold of Zeb’s hand again just as their tube shot upwards following the same path as Zane and Gracie’s. The entire ride took about ten seconds then slowly came to a stop, and the door opened.

Standing there waiting for Avery, Gracie couldn’t wait to tell her about her ride. “That was awesome! I thought I was going to be terrified, but it gave me a rush of adrenaline! That doesn’t compare to anything back on earth! Do we get to ride it back?” She looked at Zane, a big smile on her face.

Zane noticed that with each sentence her voice went higher and louder with excitement. Zane watched her with his dark aqua colored eyes and a huge grin plastered across his face.  Maybe Avery’s visit did everything he had hoped it would.  Gracie might be able to let go of her past now and move on to a brighter and happy future with him.

They all had arrived at the infirmary wing of the mother ship. This part of the ship was decorated with sterile white walls accented by swirls of red and orange mixed in that seemed to ease the mood of the room and add a splash of color. Along the walls were several doors of different colors that led to different areas of the hospital. They proceeded until they reached a blue door that slid open to reveal an area that was very familiar to both of the women.

“I don’t remember coming into the infirmary this way. Zeb took me down an all-white hallway that came to a silver door.” Avery questioned Zane as they moved towards the same beds that she had seen the other day when she was in here.

“The way we just arrived was the way you would take when coming from the living quarters of the higher ranking members on board. You had previously come in through the door that the lower ranked warriors use when they need medical attention.” Zane informed her as he rummaged through one of the drawers that stood next to the bed.  Avery and Gracie sat next to each other on the nearest bed.

Zeb came to stand next to Avery as she sat there and looked around the room. There was only one other patient in the room being attended to by someone that resembled a nurse. This time she was able to take in more of the room than she did previously. She noticed a couple of pictures on the far right wall that sat above a work station. Next to the work station were a few chairs. She guessed they were for those who waited for treatment or for those who had brought a patient in. Then the silver door she had remembered came into view as she turned her head more to the right. All the other walls were lined with beds except for the small walled walkway that lead to where they had come in.

“Are you ready Avery?” Zane had come to stand in front of her with a rather large syringe.

“Holy crap! What the hell is that for?” Avery jumped at the sound of his voice. She hadn’t been paying much attention, distracted by her observation of the room. Then her eyes had landed on the imposing, large syringe. She pushed herself backwards to try and get away from it.

Zeb let out a deep laugh at the sight of Avery scuttling away from Zane. She shot him a glare and said through clenched teeth, “You think it’s funny? Why don’t you let him stick that thing in your ear and see how it feels before I have to?”

Zane also chuckled, “It will not be bad. Our medicine is far more advanced than that of your planet. If you feel anything at all, it will be quite minimal. I am going to place the chip into your eardrums. I promise that you will not feel much.”

Avery slid slowly back to the edge of the bed where she had been sitting, “This better not hurt.” She turned head, right ear towards Zane and closed her eyes and waited for pain to seize her ear. She felt him take hold of her out ear while tilting her head to the side. She then felt to tip of the syringe sliding into her ear canal and held her breath. A second later the syringe was withdrawn from her ear, “That’s it?” She asked Zane while rubbing her ear where he had touched it.

“I told you it wasn’t going to hurt.” Zane gave her a smug look of satisfaction. He proceeded to turn her head the opposite way to repeat the process. The temporary translator was removed and he then asked her, “Can you understand me?”

Avery’s eyes lit up as she was now able to understand their language through both ears. “I sure can. Is that all that I have to do?”

He looked her directly in the eyes, “Next time maybe you will believe me when I say it will not hurt.” Avery could feel her face and neck heat up as the blood rushed there in embarrassment. She was pretty sure her face was beat red. “Sorry for not being a good patient.”

“Don’t worry little earthling. It is understandable that you would be frightened about anything you were not familiar with.”

Watching from the opposite side of the room was Hano, one of Lars’ close friends. He had cut his hand while working on their flyer and needed to have it attended to. He never thought in a million years that he would run into the earth bitch that had injured Lars’ eye to the point where it had to be removed. He knew that Lars was planning on getting even with her, but he hadn’t yet decided what he planned on doing.  They had talked and formulated several different plans. He knew at once that he was all in with helping Lars get his revenge. Maybe, he thought to himself, Lars will let him have a taste of what her body had to offer. He would like to get taste of any of the earth females that were brought onto the ship. But this one in particular he wanted to taste. He would ram into her with his cock so hard to ensure that he caused her pain.

But, first he needed to get back to Lars and let him know what he had seen in the hospital. When the nurse finished wrapping his hand, he put his shirt back on.  All the while, he was steadily watching the scene on the other side of the room. He wanted to get every little detail he could to give to Lars. He was Lars’ right hand man and wasn’t going to let him down. With one last look, he turned and walked out of the hospital through the silver door and made his way back down to the docking bay.

Chapter 13

A week later, everything had pretty much remained the same but as the days past.  Avery was still uneasy about being with Zeb. He hadn’t tried to kiss her again, but at times she would catch him watching her with eyes that were filled with desire. It quickened her pulse when she saw him look at her like that.  But, she kept telling herself not to go there.  She was afraid that if she let herself become his, she would lose all that she was.

During the day Zeb had his duties to attend to so that meant that she was left alone for most of the day. There really much for her to do in their quarters except put the rest of her belongings away, which was pretty much done, or read one of her limited supply of books. She was getting antsy all cooped up in the rooms they shared. She wanted to get out and see some more of the ship. Hell, she had every right to be able to move around the ship. According to Zeb, this was her home now until the ship returned to Theron.

With her mind made up, she got dressed in her favorite pair of jeans, a pink t-shirt and sneakers. Her ankle had completely healed and no longer hurt, so she felt confident that if she needed to run she would be able to do it. The only thing that she was still scared about was seeing Lars again. What would he do to her if he ever caught her by herself? Hopefully he was out on some mission or working in some other part of the ship and she would not run into him by chance. Really, the chance of meeting up with him was rather remote since this ship was so large.  At least, that is what she made herself believe.

“Enough thinking about Lars!” she said out loud to no one and headed out the door. This was going to be the first time she was taking the transport tube alone. Would it even be able to understand where she tells it go? “Oh well, here goes nothing.” she out loud. Stepping into the tube the door slid shut and she told the computer, “I would like to go to the shopping area.” A split second later the tube took off downward. She held on to the wall for a bit of leverage while she went shooting through the ship. Not too long after, the tube started to slow down as it approached its destination.

She let go of a deep breath as the door opened to a view that she would have never thought possible on the ship. She thought the park was amazing, but this was a place she was really excited to be in. The place looked so much like a mall straight off of Earth. The stores lined a central walkway on both sides while there were cushioned chairs and sofas scattered about the middle. She made her way further into the rush of warriors and females who were going about their business.  Nobody spared her a glance.

All of the stores had front window displays indicating what they had to offer.  All kinds of goods ranging from clothing, furniture, food, and even a pet store. The pet store drew her attention away from the scene around her. Approaching the window she could see a cage with little creatures of all colors lying about, nibbling on food or sleeping. She was just mesmerized with the creatures. Never before had she seen anything like them and she probably never would have if she hadn’t been kidnapped.

Her eyes came to rest on one of the creatures who was sitting off to the side in the corner alone. She lightly tapped on the window to draw its attention to her. It must have heard her because its furry face turned her way. “Aren’t you the cutest thing?” talking to herself again. The creature was covered in green fur sprinkled here and there with spots of white. It couldn’t have been more than a foot and a half tall when it stood up. It had three eyes that were the color of the sky back on Earth. She felt a tug on her heart when she saw that the little guy was limping towards her as he made his way over.  As he slowly limped, the other creatures were snapping at him, attacking him. However, he did finally manage to get to the edge of the cage that was facing the window. Two little arms grabbed hold of the cage while he watched her. She smiled at him and was rewarded back with a toothless smile. But, it was a smile none the less.

“I am coming around to see you little guy.” She walked into the store to the worker who was bent down behind the counter. “Excuse me.” She said to get the worker’s attention. She wasn’t prepared for sight that rose up.

“Can I help you?” The alien worker was blue and had four arms! She stood there with her mouth hanging open like a fool and heard him say again, “Can I help you?”

“Ummm…Ummm…yes, what are those little creatures over there in the window?” She did her best to mask the nervousness that she knew could be heard in her voice.

The alien worker blinked his eyes at her. Instead of answering her question, he asked her one back, “Are you one of the earth females?” He sniffed the air and took in her scent.

She straightened her back all the way to make herself look taller when she replied, “Yes, I am. I am Commander’s Zeb mate.” She wasn’t quite sure how to describe herself to him but she continued to speak to him, “My name is Avery.”

“Hello Earth Avery. I am pleased to meet you. My name is Ganna and I am from the planet Wather. The creature you are asking about is called a Rewa. They come from my planet.” As he spoke to Avery, he came around the counter and went over to the cage.

Avery followed right behind him and watched as he reached into the cage and took one of the rewas out. “Rewas are extremely friendly and gentle creatures. Most people on my planet have at least two of them. They love to play and are wonderful companions for children. Would you like to hold one?”

“Can I?”

“Most assuredly, my Earth friend. Would you like this one or one of the other ones?” He was petting the top of the rewa’s head.

She looked for the little green guy she had seen in the window and saw him back in the corner where she had first seen him, “Could I please hold the green one over there in the corner.”

“Are you certain that you want to see that one? He has a minor deformity and will eventually die.  This is mostly because the other rewas will not let him get access to the food.” He put the one he was holding back into the cage and went to reach for the one she wanted to see.

“I am positive. I want to hold that one.” She smiled with anticipation as she watched Ganna gently pick it up and bring out of the cage. When he placed the small creature in her hands it automatically sat down in her arms. “Wow, his fur is so soft.” She continued to run her hand over the top of its head and watched the reaction on the creature’s face. “I wish I could take you back with me.”
