*****

By the second day that Bruce was gone, Kate was feeling his absence.
She took advantage of the time to put in a few more hours at the
boutique. She had been working on individual clients for the past few
weeks and had been away from the boutique. It was nice to be back
working there with Linda. They had since hired on two other employees
since Linda's responsibilities had increased.

Linda had been scouting an additional location for another boutique,
something that Kate was extremely proud of. There was no luck
involved in the explosion that was happening with her business. It
was all simply due to hard work and blessings.

She and Linda agreed to close the boutique right on time so that the
employees could go home at a decent time. It was a Tuesday and there
was no reason for anyone to have to stay late that night.

Kate was looking forward to a glass of wine or two and whatever was
stored up on her DVR. She envisioned herself curling up on the couch
with a good book and maybe getting to sleep before midnight.

After the first glass of wine and a one hour show, Kate was ready to
fall asleep. She was jolted from dozing off by her phone ringing.

"Hello," she answered drowsily.

"Wow, I was not expecting you to be asleep this early."

The sound of his voice melted her heart. "I took page out of
your book and decided to turn in early."

Bruce chuckled. "I leave town for a few days and everything
changes."

"Well, maybe next time you won't be gone for so long."

"I'll try my best, my dear. What are you doing right now?"

"Nothing much." Kate looked down at her fluffy pink
pajamas. She was cozy and that was all that mattered. If Bruce had
been there, she would have been wearing something more revealing.
Bruce loved to see her in lace.

"Just relaxing with a glass of wine and watching some movie on
my DVR. A real night full of thrills and adventure. What about you?"

"Happy to have a little time off tonight to gather my thoughts.
This trip has been very productive."

Kate wanted to kick herself. She had been so busy pouting about Bruce
being gone, that she had not even asked him about his trip.

"I'm so glad to hear that. I know you have been wanting to take
on a few extra clients for a while now, so I'm proud of you."

"You are?" he teased.

"Of course I am. It's always good to be able to do the thing
that you love the most."

There was a knock at her door.

"Hold on," Kate said with a confused look on her face.

"Were you expecting anyone?" Bruce asked.

"No. Not at all. Can you stay on the phone with me until I see
who it is?"

"Sure thing."

Kate practically tip toed over to the door. She peeked out of the
window first, trying to see if there was a car outside that could
identify who her visitor was. No cars that she did not recognize were
there.

She stood up on her toes to peer through the peep hole.

"Oh my goodness!" she exclaimed. Throwing open the door,
she dropped her phone on the table in the foyer.

"You tricked me!"

Bruce smiled. "I did. I thought that I would surprise you."

He pulled her into his arms, and when he did,
everything felt so right.

"How did you get here?"

"I took a car service from the airport. I wrapped everything up
with my client and was able to catch a flight out this afternoon
instead of waiting for tomorrow morning. I thought you would
appreciate that."

She was still standing on her toes, trying to reach him for a kiss.
Bruce leaned in, giving her what she wanted.

"One of the best surprises ever. Come in."

Bruce did not take his hand off of her waist as he entered the house.
With his other hand, he placed his bag at the door.

"I missed you."

Kate could barely contain herself when his lips touched hers. "I
can tell."

He began undressing himself as they walked back into the house. Kate
did not resist, and she too began disrobing. Her pink fluffy pajamas
were not exactly sexy and she was happy to get out of them while she
was with her love.

Bruce nibbled on her neck and continued to plunge the kisses further
down her neckline. Her body responded as it always did to his touch.
Fire. Pleasure. Yearning.

Once they were both down to skin only, Kate followed Bruce to the
bedroom. There he laid her on the bed, desires running rampant
between them both.

She arched her back, letting him know that she was ready. He
practically dove in, no foreplay, no tenderness. This was a man on a
mission that wanted to please his woman. There were times when Kate
wanted the love, the passion, and the gentle touch, and there were
times when she wanted to feel her man inside of her.

Bruce clutched her body, holding her tightly as he descended further
and further into her wetness. Kate could respond with nothing more
than moaning. He had caught her by surprise and now it seemed that he
was not letting go until he gave her what she needed.

Body trembling, Kate knew she was on the verge of orgasm. She wanted
to feel every second of it, forceful and intense. And when she did,
it was the only way that Bruce let her relax.

She could barely catch her breath. "What was that?"

"If you don't know, I did something wrong," he chuckled.

"Not at all. I have to say, your woman is satisfied."

He flipped her over, so now she was on top of him. "Do I look
like I am?"

He pointed in the direction of his hardened penis, standing erect. It
was as if it was inviting her for more.

"Oh, I knew there would be a round two."

Her lover beckoned for her to come to him. Like a tigress, she
slinked over to him, ready for what was next.

She kissed him from his navel, slowly up toward his nipples. She had
come to know that his chest area was an erogenous zone for him and he
went crazy with the feel of her tongue on his skin. As she led the
trail of kisses, she kept her eyes pinned on him, watching as he lay
there with his eyes closed, feeling the pleasure. Taking his penis in
her hand, she massaged him, running her hands up and down the shaft,
tugging and pulling just enough to make him start to go wild.

When he tried to sit up and watch the action, she pushed him back
down on the bed. "I'm in control here."

He did as he was told and laid back, letting her take control of
their foreplay. When Kate was certain that he was hard enough again
to enter her, she straddled him, guiding him expertly inside of her.

Kate began rocking her hips, ready to bring ecstasy to both of them.
But it was Bruce who stepped up, ready to make passionate love to his
woman. As she sat in his lap, legs wrapped around his waist, he sat
up as well, hands on her hips, directing her movements. She clenched
the muscles of her vagina, something that always gave Bruce a reason
to pause and not overload.

As she grinded on him, he took advantage of the fact that her breasts
were perky and in full view. Flickering his tongue over her hardened
nipples gave her a sensation that tingled all of the way down to her
fingertips. She began bucking her hips a little more wildly as she
slid her body up and down his hardened penis. Bruce's face contorted
with carnal bliss as he bit his lip. She could tell he was almost at
the point of eruption, but she was not ready for him to finish.

Giving him a pause from the sensations, she leaned in, kissing his
neck gently. It gave them both the time to catch their breath and
re-energize. But she could not take it too slow. And neither could
he.

Bruce tossed her aside, and she landed on the bed underneath him. She
craved the warmth of his body entangled with hers. He came to her,
ready for her.

It felt like perfection when he entered her, thrusting so that he
touched her in all of the right places. His eyes never left hers and
that connection only built the intensity between them.

Her body ached for what was next. He called forth a tidal wave that
rushed in and over took the both of them. Sweat dripping, bodies wet
with bliss, Bruce cradled her in his arms, whispering how much he
loved her and missed her.

"If you are going to miss me like that, you can go out of town
much more often."

"Really? Is that all that I need to do?"

Kate playfully tapped Bruce.

"You are beautiful."

She snuggled in his arms. "I never get tired of hearing you say
that."

He kissed her on the forehead. "I don't want to ever get tired
of saying it."

Kate's breathing finally slowed and she sunk into the bed right there
in Bruce's arms, where she felt most safe, and most comfortable and
she was exactly where she wanted to be.

Waking up to breakfast in bed was one of the perks of being with
Bruce. He did his best to make Kate happy and she appreciated it. She
opened her eyes to see her knight in shining armor standing before
her. A single red flower stood tall in a slender, clear vase and a
breakfast of tea, sausage, toast, and scrambled eggs brightened her
day.

"Thank you."

"Anything for you, my love." He kissed her forehead gently.

Bruce took a seat next to her. She could feel his eyes on her.

"Is everything okay this morning?"

Bruce softly brushed her hair back from her face. "It's perfect.
Just thinking about how lucky I am to have you in my life."

Even after a year, Bruce still gave her butterflies. She expected all
of the anxiety and giddiness would dissipate by this time. Being
together for a year was not exactly the longest amount of time for a
relationship, but Kate had not been in a long term relationship
before to know either way.

She wanted what her parents had, a love that spanned decades, but it
had not seemed attainable to her. It seemed like something people
experienced when they were established, maybe a bit older than she
was. Her mother told her that she and her father had met when they
were about Kate's age and they fell head over heels for one another.

It all seemed like a fairy tale to Kate and she was not sure that she
would experience it on the level that her parents did because she was
so into working and building her career. Her mother often reminded
her that her career would not keep her warm at night and make her
smile during the day.

At the time, it had been a sacrifice she was willing to make and she
resigned that it would be alright for a while if she did not go
looking for the man of her dreams. That was until Bruce came along.
The fact was that she had not been searching for Mr. Right, but she
recognized she would have been a fool if she let him pass her by.

"Awe, you are so sweet." She leaned up to kiss him on the
lips.

It was good he was in such a good mood this morning. That would make
it easier to share with him that she had to go off on a business trip
herself. And it would not be a quick trip out of state and back.

She could either tell him now that she had a huge trip planned to
meet up with a new client or she could wait a while. Waiting seemed a
whole lot easier. Ruining the mood was not necessary and Bruce was
always a bit irritated when she interjected with talk of work.

"Last night was amazing."

A huge grin came across his face, his five o'clock shadow creeping
in.

"That it was. I'm glad I could fly in and surprise you. Being on
the road is not necessarily my thing and I wanted to get back home as
soon as possible."

"Thank goodness for the last flight out." She sipped her
tea, still mulling over whether she should tell him the news.

"I like to make things happen when I can."

There were those blue eyes again, staring into her very soul. It was
as if he knew she was holding back some information.

"Well, I have some time to kill before I start work for the day.
How about you?"

Bruce nodded and hopped up off of the bed. He began slowly pacing
around the room.

"I have something for you."

"Bruce. You spoil me too much. You really don't have to."

He shrugged and pulled an envelope out of his bag.

"Remember you and I talking about your bucket list?"

She nodded. When they first met, they discussed all of the things
that they both wanted to do in life that they had not done. They
discussed everything from jumping from airplanes to transatlantic
flights to foreign countries.

"What do you have up your sleeve?" She set the breakfast
tray to the side.

"Here."

She slid her finger along the seal of the envelope, keeping her eye
on Bruce to read his expression. His usual poker face revealed no
idea of his level of excitement.

Kate took a moment to read what was inside. "Are you serious?"

Bruce stepped back, and Kate could tell by the confusion on his face
that he was not sure how to react to her curt response.

"I'm sorry. I did not mean for that to come out like that. I'm
just so surprised."

His expression softened.

"Are you really?"

Her hands trembled a bit. "This is a great gift. Truly. Thank
you."

He paused.

"Are you still not going to mention that you have a huge account
out of town? In Paris?"

His words took the wind right out of her. She closed her eyes,
partially relieved that he knew, the other part of her not ready to
discuss her most recent business move.

She opened her mouth to speak, but could not find the words. Bruce
filled in the gap.

"I wanted to plan something nice for you. A getaway. So I called
Amelia to find out your schedule. She told me that you had a week
long trip to Paris for a new client next week. I thought, now how is
Kate going to go to Paris for the first time without me? Especially
since it was one of your bucket list items. So I cleared my schedule
and got us both tickets. Planned an entire itinerary for the week.
Around your work schedule of course. I just wanted to share the
experience with you. I hope that you don't mind."
