"Kate, I can't tell you the answer to this. Only you know what
you want and how hard you will work for that."

Kate was not sure she was okay with the way the conversation was
going.

"I just thought you would have some type of advisement on how to
do this. I know you've been here before."

Bruce turned to her. "The last time this was an issue for me, as
I've told you before, I did not handle it correctly."

"But at the time, you thought you were doing the right thing."

"At the time, I did think I was doing the right thing, yes. But
now that I'm older and have a bit more perspective, I feel that I
know what is ultimately more important to me."

Frustration was setting in. "Hindsight is twenty twenty."

She hated being in a position where she would be made to feel like
she had to chose between love and her career. She was supposed to be
able to have both and be successful at both. And it would have been
ideal for someone just to tell her the answer so she could handle it
correctly the first time.

"The only thing I can think to do is apologize for being so
late. But I'm not apologizing for why I was late."

Feeling backed in to a corner, all Kate could think to do was stand
her ground.

"Look, I'm not telling you that you have to apologize for any of
it. I knew when I met you what I was in for. I'm dealing with a
driven, ambitious woman. I knew there would be times our relationship
would have to take a back seat to your climb to the top. It's just a
bit difficult when it happens."

Kate threw her arms around Bruce. Somehow, she wanted a hug to make
it all better. It would not be that easy.

"I checked in with Amelia. You have some free time this morning.
If it's alright with you, I have something planned for the two of
us."

"That would be wonderful. I would love that."

Feeling more settled about the situation, Kate breathed a sigh of
relief. She closed her eyes and let the calm of the moment wash over
her.

Bruce's lips brushed hers. His hands slid around her waist, pulling
her into his hard body. A moan escaped her as he planted tiny,
feathery kisses on her throat. She turned to the side, making sure he
had full access to her erogenous zone.

"Maybe we should take this inside."

"Or maybe we should enjoy the little show we are possibly giving
someone," Bruce suggested.

She giggled. "I like the thought of that." Kate peered up
at the cottage, but it was way too dark out to tell if anyone was
peeking from their window.

In Bruce's arms, everything felt just right for the moment. There was
no need to push the issue any further. She would let things be and
live in the here and now. And right here, right now, she had a man
that loved her and was willing to stand by her side, even when she
had not put him first. That had to count for something.

*****

Sleep was no where in sight. It was impossible to rest. Partially
because there was so much in France that she wanted to see, and
partially because she was in one of the most romantic places in the
world with the man she loved.

Bruce reheated the dinner that was on the table and they snuggled in
bed as they ate the leftovers and discussed Kate's day in the fashion
world. Bruce was all ears as she told him all about what it was like
to walk the red carpet and be in the midst of the excitement of the
awards show.

"You have hit the jackpot. Getting a huge pop star like Fancy on
your roster is going to boost you to the next level."

Kate gave Bruce a confused stare. "What do you know about
Fancy?"

Bruce chuckled. "Occasionally, I do turn on the pop music
channel to stay hip."

Kate laughed at his use of the word hip to describe himself. "The
mere fact that you used the word hip does not make you hip. You do
know that right?"

Bruce waved his hand and sucked his teeth. "Woman, you are not
the only person that is in the know with music and fashion. I may
know a thing or two myself."

"Really?" she teased.

"Okay, so maybe I'm not always that up to date. I try though."

Kate kissed him on the cheek. "Try is the key word."

By the time they ate and got a bit of sleep, it was after seven in
the morning. Bruce woke Kate to begin their day.

"I think I will take a hot shower first. Then we can get dressed
and get going."

"Take your time," Bruce replied.

The hot, steamy water was invigorating. Her muscles were way more
tense than she knew.

"You look like you could use a massage."

Kate opened her eyes to see Bruce, stepping into the shower with her.

"I really could."

Gently squeezing and kneading her shoulders, his touch was the relief
she needed.

"That feels amazing."

"Let me give you something else that feels amazing."

Bruce's passion was quickly ignited. His mouth over hers, it was as
if he was trying to inhale her very essence.

Kate wrapped her arms around his neck and instinctively wrapped her
leg around his waist.

His moan as he settled in, entering her body made her shudder. He was
exactly where she needed him to be, deep inside of her, absorbing her
entire being. Steadying herself between the shower wall and holding
on to Bruce was no easy task. Each time he thrust his hardened cock
inside of her, she lost more control.

Bruce's pace quickened, his mouth still on hers, quieting her screams
of passion. Griping the wall with one hand, she held the other around
Bruce's neck. Staring him in the eye, concentrating on their
pleasure, Kate felt the two of them melt into one another.

The heat from the shower water made their writhing bodies so slick,
it was hard to properly keep a hold on one another. Kate could feel
the two of them, grasping for one another, wanting to make amends for
what happened between them earlier. Their bodies spoke to one another
in a way that words could not.

Kate opened herself, accepted Bruce in and he willingly gave himself
to her, filling her with all the love he had to give. Both of them
swelled with passion, and Kate could feel Bruce's penis, inside of
her throbbing and ready to explode. She too was on the verge of
release. It would only take a few more strokes to bring her over the
edge. Bruce's feverish paced thrusts and his kisses with his body
pressed firmly against hers, brought her the pleasure she desired.
The constant friction against her hardened clitoris brought her to
orgasm, but the additional treat was feeling Bruce inside of her,
pressing against the very spot that would surely give her the most
sensation.

Bruce continued his stroke, staring her in the eye as they both knew
what was next. Bruce gritted his teeth as he tried to steady himself.
She felt him stiffen and then the release for both of them, guttural
moans of satisfaction.

There was nothing but the sounds of the shower water and their heavy
breathing.

"Are you okay?"

"I am. I think. Oh goodness." Kate chuckled as she tried to
catch her breath.

"I think we both needed that quickie." Bruce lathered the
wash cloth and began to rub it against Kate's back. Still planting
kisses on her neck, his presence relaxed her.

"Are we okay, Bruce?"

"We are fine, my love. We will get through anything."

*****

Kate wanted to make the most of the time that she had to spend with
Bruce. She phoned Amelia and let her know to text her if anything was
important, but made it clear that she needed to relax that morning
after such a long night out. Kate then routed all of her phone calls
to Amelia, intent on spending some uninterrupted time with Bruce.

It was nice to not glance at her phone incessantly and to focus on
something other than work. It was also a pleasure to know that Bruce
had taken such thought and care to plan a morning out for the both of
them. Their first stop was to tour the country side where the cottage
was.

To see the way other's lived was intriguing to Kate. There was so
much beauty in seeing the difference in others. Since it was early
morning, they toured the open air market, picking up some fruit, some
fresh cut flowers, and sampling some of the foods indigenous to the
region. Talking to the locals, they found out about a restaurant that
would be perfect for a proper breakfast.

Kate and Bruce reveled in their one on one time. She gushed over the
way he held her hand, and how he walked with his hand at the small of
her back, guiding her gently. He doted on her, making sure she was
happy and content. When they ate at the restaurant, he ordered for
the both of them, because she was not sure what she wanted to eat
exactly.

He fed her the spoonfuls of omelet and they both enjoyed the
blueberry crepe he ordered.

Instead of taking the car service into the city, they rode the
railway. Riding through the countryside the way the locals did gave
them a true taste of the country. When they arrived in the heart of
Paris, Kate's heart raced with excitement. How different it was to
see the city with Bruce leisurely versus working while with Fancy.

They strolled along the river, visited the Champs-Elysee. Bruce held
her hand the entire way ascent of the Eiffel Tower. Conquering her
fear of heights was yet another item on her bucket list. Once they
reached the top of the monument, being so high up did not seem so
bad. It was exhilarating and the view was breathtaking.

"Being here, with you. It puts so much into perspective."

"It does, doesn't it?" He kissed her lightly on the
forehead.

"You know that I am killing two birds with one stone today?"

"Tell me more," Bruce coaxed.

Kate looked out over the expanse of the city. "My fear of
heights."

"Fear of heights? I learn something new about you everyday, my
love."

"Yes. I think I have overcome that fear. Well, maybe not
completely, but it's a step in the right direction." She laughed
at her admission.

"A step in the right direction is hopeful."

When Bruce spoke, he gazed at her, with an expression that made Kate
think he had some huge secret to divulge.

"Is there something you want to tell me?" she asked.

She could tell he was giving her question some deep thought.

"No," he finally responded. Bruce held up his arm. She
linked hers in his and they walked toward to observation deck.

It felt like she was on top of the world, standing there, overlooking
the city, arm and arm with her love.

"Are you ready to go? I have a few other things on the list."

"Let's go then."

Once they were back on the ground, Kate felt the most optimistic she
had felt in a while about everything. There had to be a way to
balance everything.

For the entire morning, her phone did not ring with work related
responsibilities and she was able to rightfully focus on the quality
time she was spending with Bruce.

There was not enough time to do all that Bruce planned for the
morning, so they decided to table some of the last activities on the
list until later that week.

They laughed and talked about nothing in particular on the ride back
to the cottage.

"This is the best time I've had in while."

"I'm glad I could be such great company."

"And I see that being in Paris has gotten to you. You're sense
of style has improved."

"What this?" He ran his hands up and down the length of his
own body.

Kate loved the fact that Bruce could laugh at himself. "Don’t
think the change in attire went unnoticed. It's nice to see you in
something other than jeans and a white button down shirt and your
cowboy hat."

"You mean to tell me that you don't like my big hat?"

She playfully tapped him on the shoulder.

"I absolutely love your big hat."

"That's good to know. I was starting to get a little worried.
What am I without my keen sense of fashion?"

"Cheeky."

She stood on her tip toes, kissing Bruce on the lips.

"Thank you."

"For what exactly?" Bruce questioned.

"For being there for me. For being so patient with me."

"Somebody has to help you get it together when you lose your
head."

Bruce was right. She was glad he was the person that helped her to
stay stable and keep her head on straight.

"I'm so glad that person is you."

Chapter 6

Kate was not sure if spending uninterrupted time with Bruce made it
okay to shift her focus completely to work for the rest of the time
that they were in France. She had so much on her agenda, working with
Fancy for the remainder of the time she was there.

Between the additional appearances and the awards luncheon ceremony,
Kate was dead on her feet. Who knew working for one celebrity in
specific would tire you out so much?

She was no good once she arrived back at the cottage. The only thing
she wanted to do was sleep. Sometimes, she could not even decide if
she should grab something to eat before she drifted off to sleep.

When she felt Bruce's hands, kneading and massaging her muscles, it
was always the perfect ending to her day.

"Tomorrow we are back home."

"Yes, we are. But I feel like so much has changed in this week."

"How, my love?"

Kate turned around, laying on the fluffy pillow next to Bruce.

"I feel like we've grown a bit closer."

"Tell me more." He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her
into him where Kate laid her head on his chest.

"I'm learning that in relationships, sometimes there are little
glitches. You know, spaces in time where things may not necessarily
go as planned. But it's not about what is actually happening. It's
not about the incident. It's all about how you handle the incident.
Does it pull you further apart of does it push the two of you
together? I think that is what is important. How the two of you make
it through."
