“Yeah, in my dreams,” Mia mused, grateful for the distraction from emotions she couldn’t explain if she tried. That was the only place she wanted a man right now. That way her heart would be safe.

She straightened her spine and looked up at the green-eyed, black-bearded McGregor figure. She wasn’t the revengeful type, but she had to admit having a rugged man like Angus on her arm would be a huge coupe.

“Forget the giant. What were you going to say about the shop lady?” Julia broke into her thoughts.

“She told me I would find my true love because I was wearing this necklace.” Mia pulled the pendent away from her skin. “Weird, huh?”

“Maybe you’re going to have a whirlwind romance with a Scottish hunk,” Erin piped in.

“Now you’re talking some sense,” Julia responded. Maybe you just need to have a fling with skirt-boy and get it over with.” Julia nodded toward the statue of Angus. “Preferably a live one.”

“I’m not sleeping with the bellman. Or anyone else for that matter,” Mia corrected.

“Fine. I still think when we get back to New York you need to let Steve have it. He deserves it and then some,” Julia spouted off, bristled and flustered; her makeup-free cheeks bright with color. “You were too easy on him.”

Julia had a point. They were in Scotland for a celebration, and Mia wasn’t going to let Steve get the best of her. She wouldn’t let his memory ruin Cami’s wedding like he’d ruined Mia’s birthday. From this moment on, she vowed not to waste one more second thinking about him. In fact, she never wanted to see the jerk again.

Mia needed a change, needed for something to happen, needed an escape from the stresses of her life. Gazing at the larger-than-life statue, she once again felt drawn to her surroundings. Maybe Erin’s bliss was rubbing off on her. Then again, Mia was a young woman in a foreign country... just the kind of stuff romantic adventures were made of.
