He searched her face, grateful she was trying to make it easier for him, even though she had every reason not to. “Yes, but in my case it was all the time, a way of life.”

He reached out to touch the side of her face, hesitating as if to ask permission. She leaned in the rest of the way. Something inside him sighed wide-open at the contact.

“Until you,” he whispered. “From day one…well, you saw me. Sensed when I was present. Sought me out…” He chuckled without humor. “Made tailing you hard as hell…”

She covered his hand with hers.

“Then when we met, there was no escaping you. You were everywhere. Inside me, outside…”

“I felt the same way. As if you understood me like no one else could.” She stroked his fingers with hers. “I think it’s natural, that feeling. You know, when two people are falling…”

He raised a brow, waiting…no, hoping, she would say it.

She didn’t. So he did: “In love? Falling in love?”

She dropped her gaze and nodded.

“Do you love me, Regina?”

She swallowed hard.

“Because I sure as hell love you.”

He didn’t know who moved first, but they were suddenly embracing.

He could feel her heart thudding against his, her scent filling his entire being.

“How long are you planning to stay?” she asked quietly.

He tilted her chin up and kissed her lingeringly. “For as long as you’ll have me.”

He’d already worked all that out in the hope she’d let him stay; let him be a part of her life.

He could work from anywhere, so long as he had a laptop and his cell phone. He’d have to travel frequently, but he planned to do as little of that as possible. From here on out he knew what was important. And he intended to make sure she understood that.

“I love you, Linc,” she whispered. “I wouldn’t be opposed to the idea of you staying forever.”

And just like that, he knew he’d never be invisible again.
