“Right behind
ya Shay,” said Danielle as they anxiously ran up the stairs.

“Phew,” Jason wiped his brow, “That was a close one, thanks for the save there Mitch.”

“Anytime buddy.”

“I'm glad you came up with that man, I was about to break out in a sweat!”

“Ha-ha, no worries buddy. Let's head back outside.”

Mitch and Jason sat out on the back patio and had a beer while waiting for a free bathroom.

“You nervous?”

“You know, actually I'm not, we've been together so long that this just seems like the right thing to do you kno
w?”

“I understand, said Mitch. “Your idea got me thinking too.”

“What? Don’t tell me that you’re gonna propose to Danielle too? Jason asked, surprised.

“Well no, I'm not gonna propose anytime soon but it is a definite possibility in the future. And beside
s, I wouldn’t do it now; I wouldn’t want to ruin your thunder.”

“Oh I'm not gonna let anything ruin tonight buddy, I'm already flying high.”

“I can tell Jason, I'm happy for you man.”

Upstairs getting out of the shower, Danielle felt much better. I feel li
ke I was never sick in the first place, she thought to herself. As she smoothed a ginger scented body lotion all over herself she looked in the mirror. My hairs not that bad, a good brushing and a little makeup and I'll be good to go, now to find something to wear. She was glad that before they had left Vermont, Mitch let her use the Xterra to go shopping and shopping she had certainly did. She had packed almost everything she had purchased that day and decided on a black sheer gauze maxi dress with turquoise beading along the plunging neckline.
This will be perfect
, she said to herself.

After she got dressed, she looked at herself in the mirror. “Mitch is gonna love me in this dress.” Finishing her hair and makeup she put on a pair of black roman style san
dals with beading around the ankle.

“You look amazing,” he said and stood in the doorway admiring her.

“Mitch, how long have you been standing there?” Danielle asked as she turned around.

“Oh long enough to realize how incredibly gorgeous you are.”

“Thank you babe,” she said wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing him.

For Danielle, each time she kissed him she felt such a fluttering throughout her body, it was as if his kisses took her away to a whole other place, a place of warmth, passion,
protection and love.

“You’re looking pretty delicious yourself Mitch,” she said as she held his hands at arm’s length. He was wearing a cotton dressy black tee and a pair of tan, linen pants that hung loosely on him in all the right places.

“Good enough to eat Mitch.”

“Danielle you better stop, these pants don’t hide much.”

“Oh, I'll have to test that out a little later,” she whispered in his ear while nibbling on it.

“No need to wait for later, just look down.”

Covering her mouth as she laughed, Danielle knew exactly what he was talking about.

“Did I do that?”

“Yes you did and you really should finish what you started. See, he's feeling all neglected.”

“Oh is he now? Well I'm sorry he'll have to wait, no sex till I've eaten,” she grinned.

“Okay, okay let's go see if Jason and Shay are ready.”

While helping the ladies get into the car, Mitch too felt as if something was amiss, glancing around the property he saw nothing out of the ordinary. Must be my mind playing tricks on me, he thought as he pulled out of
the driveway and onto the main road.

“You can look around all you want asshole and you’ll never find me,” Ethan cursed as he watched Mitch drive right by him and onto the main road. They were all dressed up so I know they aren’t going back home, and there can only be so many places in this stupid town for dinner so I'll just drive around until I find that stupid truck he's driving. “And if I can’t find them, I’ll simply sit here and wait until they get back,” he murmured to himself. “I’ve got all the time in the world Danielle.”

Pulling into the restaurant parking lot twenty minutes later, the couples headed inside of Figaro's Italian restaurant.

“This looks nice huh Danielle?” Said Shayla.

“Yes it does Shay, so romantic.”

“I Bet we don’t barf tonight, that’s for sure,” she whispered to her friend.

“Thanks for reminding me Shay.”

“Anytime my friend.”

Once the waiter had seated them and taken their drink orders they made small talk while looking over the menu.

“I know what I'm having,” said Shayla.

“Oh, wha
t’s that?”

“I'm going to have the chicken parm with a house salad.”

“Sounds good, I'm gonna have the chicken Marsala,” said Danielle.

Mitch decided on the veal piccatta while Jason ordered the prime rib. Sipping on their drinks and having a wonderful time,
they all soon enjoyed a wonderful meal together. None having room for desert, decided on coffee and espresso instead.

“Wow that hit the spot. Dinner was amazing,” they all said to their waiter. As Mitch and Jason settled the bill; Danielle and Shayla took
their leave to the ladies room. On the way, Shay came up with an idea.

“Hey Dee, did you see that little bar down the road a piece?”

“Yes I certainly did, you want to go?”

“Sure why not? It'd be nice to have a couple drinks and get to know the locals.”

“Get to know the locals huh? You just want to show off our fabulous outfits.”

“Well of course, come on, let's get the guys.”

Not long after they had pulled into the restaurant and parked had Ethan found Mitch's vehicle. I was right, Ethan grinned. “Going out to dinner with my Danielle, look at her in that outfit. I bet he made her wear that, showing off her tits to him like that. She’ll never learn, not while she's with him. I'll have to teach them all a lesson tonight,” Ethan grunted angrily as he parked in an adjacent lot and waited. Heading over to the bar, the couples talked happily about the good meal they had and the wonderful atmosphere.

“Let's hope the bar is the same way,” said Mitch, “It’s been a long time since I’ve been here.”

“I'm sure it'll be fine,” said Danielle, rubbing her hand along his thigh.

“Danielle, you know what that does to me,” he whispered.

“I know, why do you think I enjoy doing it so much?” She said with a sexy smile.

Leading the ladies into the bar, Danielle and Shayla grabbed
an empty table while Mitch and Jason headed over to the bar to order their drinks.

“This isn’t bad at all Dee.”

“No it's not, although I feel we are a bit over dressed.”

“Oh so what Danielle,” said Shayla. “We look awesome and we've just come from dinner.

Loosen up and enjoy yourself.”

“I am Shay, there is no place I’d rather be right now, trust me. I love you guys, I am so happy right now Shay, this is by far the best memorial day weekend I’ve had in a very long time,” Danielle smiled brightly.

“Me too Danielle, me too.”

Danielle and Shayla drank sea breezes while Mitch and Jason stuck to a couple of beers. The music that was playing came from a jukebox and Shayla went over to play a song.

“So Danielle,” said Jason, I guess I should tell you that I'm going to propose to your friend tonight.”

Almost choking on her drink, Danielle said, “What? Are you serious? Oh my god Jason,

congratulations! When? So is that why you wanted to make an early night of it? You sly devil you; she is going to be thrilled.”

“I kn
ow, but you gotta promise me you won't tell her, you'll ruin the surprise.”

“Oh of course not Jason, you don’t have to worry about that. Oh my god, I'm so happy for you guys. Mitch? Did you know about this? Is that also why you invited me on a moonlit stro
ll to the dock? You two!” She playfully punched each of them in the arm.

Laughing Mitch said, “Well now that the cats out of the bag, yes, but I thought ole Jason here was going to keep it a secret until after he proposed.”

“I know buddy, but I just couldn’t wait any longer, I'm about to burst.”

“I can imagine Jason; tell me what the hell are we doing here then? Let's drink up and get going back to the cabin so the real fun can begin.”

Walking back to the table, Shayla noticed Danielle sucking down her drink.

“What’s the rush Dee? You looking to get drunk or what?”

“Huh? Oh no, I'm so ready to go Shay.”

“What? Why? We just got here and I just fed the jukebox like ten bucks, can't we at least stay until my songs have played?”

“I'm getting tired Shay and I'm not feeling well, I think I over did it again.”

“Well no wonder, you just sucked down that vodka and cranberry juice. Fine, let's go, I wouldn’t want you sick again. Especially here, certainly don’t want to be on your hands
and knees in front of no toilets here!”

“Your right Shay, let's go.”

“Poor Mitch, he only had a sip of beer.”

“Oh it’s okay Shay, I'm driving anyway. Let's head on home, Jason and I have got to get up early,” Mitch winked at his friend.

“Alright, y’all are party poppers,” Shayla pouted.

“It’s okay babe, we can have some drinks when we get home.” Cheering up, Shayla grabbed Jason’s hand as they headed for the car.

About a half mile away from the cabin, Mitch was still on the main road.  And as they

listened
and sang along to the radio, Mitch glanced in his rear view mirror and noticed a set of headlights bearing down on him. Danielle noticing the headlights as well turned around to look out the back window. “Probably some local asshole trying to scare us hun, slow down and let them pass.”

Mitch, reluctant to let them have their way, thought of his passengers as he eased up on the gas and slowed the Xterra down. Still not passing, the other car kept riding the Xterra’s bumper, practically hitting it.

Jason and Shayla couldn’t help but notice the irate driver. “Maybe you should just pull over all together Mitch,” said Shayla.

“What the hell is this guy’s problem?” Jason chimed in.

“I don’t know, but my turn offs coming up and this guy isn’t slowing down.”

“Shoul
d we call the cops?”

“No, he'll be gone by the time they respond.”

Rolling down the window and placing his arm out to signal the driver to go around, Mitch laid on the horn to get his attention. Suddenly, the other vehicle sped up and was side by side with the Xterra.

Neither Danielle nor Mitch could tell who was driving the SUV.

“Oh my god Mitch it looks like he's trying to run us off the road!” No sooner had Danielle spoke did the dark SUV veer over towards the right as if it were going to slam right into Mitch's Xterra. Seeing his turn off and thinking quickly, Mitch took the turn with a jerk and as the Xterra bumped and grinded to a halt, the driver of the dark SUV righted his vehicle on the road and sped off.

“Everyone okay?” Mitch asked as he started
the car and began driving down the driveway. “Yeah we're okay, what the hell was that?”

“I don't know.”

“That was freaky. Maine, a nice place to visit but I wouldn’t want to live here! All I can say is good thing I went to the bathroom back at the bar.”

“I
second that,” said Danielle holding onto Mitch's hand.

Getting out of the car, Mitch went over to Danielle's side.

“Babe, you okay?”

“Yes, I'm alright. That was some pretty good driving there sweetheart, do you ever sweat under pressure Mitch? You’re alwa
ys so cool, calm and collected, I wish I could be like that.”

“Danielle that was nothing. The only time I sweat under pressure is when I think of you in danger and you were with me so you weren’t in any danger.”

“Kiss me.”

“Gladly.” Taking her in his arms
and surrounding her with warmth, Mitch kissed her deeply and passionately under the starlit night.

“Come on guys I want to get inside, smooch later,” Shayla grinned.

After changing and getting settled downstairs, Mitch got the go ahead signal from Jason and said out loud, “Hey Danielle, you feel like taking a walk down to the dock with me? I've got a bottle of champagne with our names on it.”

“Absolutely, let me grab a blanket and I'll be right with you
babe.”

“Will you guys be okay all alone?” Danielle asked jokingly.

“Are you serious?” Said Shayla. “You better hope we don’t lock you guys out, now get going.”

“Alright, alright, listen have fun guys and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”

“Yeah right, get outta here.”
