“Hey buddy, you made excellent time,” said Jason as Mitch pulled into his driveway and parked next to Jason's truck.”

“Huh what?” Shayla said sleepily.

“Wake up Shay, we're home.”

Stretching and yawning a groggy Shayla got out of the Xterra and headed towards Jason's truck.

“Mitch, thank you for a wonderful trip, I'm exhausted, we'd stay a bit but I just want to get home and crawl into bed.”

“No worries Shayla, I'm glad you guys enjoyed yourselves.”

Giving Danielle
and Mitch a hug Shayla grabbed one of the bags, threw it in Jason's truck and got into the passenger side.

“You know she's tired when she doesn't talk much,” laughed Jason. “Well listen guys, thanks again and we'll get together soon to plan that party.”

“Alright buddy, drive safe.”

“Take care of your sleepy fiancé Jason,” said Danielle as she waved goodbye.

“Home sweet home,” said Mitch as he carried the last of the luggage into the house.

“Yes it is nice to be back.”

“It's even nicer not having to come back alone Danielle. I didn't always like coming back to an empty house.”

“Mitch, there is no place I’d rather be. Listen, you must be exhausted after all that driving, I'll unpack the bags tomorrow babe, what’s say we make it an early night and head upstairs
to bed?”

While Mitch locked up, Danielle waited for him on the stairs and together they went to the
bedroom. After washing up and getting ready for bed, Danielle opened the bathroom door to Mitch holding two glasses of wine.

“What’s this?”

“Oh I just thought we'd enjoy a glass before going to bed.”

“Mitch you are too sweet to me.”

“Thank you,” he said as she kissed him on the lips.

“I love you Mitch.”

“I love you too Danielle.”

Chapter Seventeen

The Tuesday morning alarm awoke both with a start.

“Ugh, is it that time already?” Mitch mumbled still half asleep. Danielle lay wide awake and was feeling very aroused. She rolled over and whispered into his ear.

“Good morning babe, you lay back and relax, I want to give you a proper wake up call.”

Running her tongue along his ear, down his neck and across his chest, she could feel that he was quite responsive to her gestures. Closing his eyes and letting her take complete control over his body, he felt utter pleasure as the kisses that she was del
ivering to his chest were now being delivered up and down his erection.

“Mmmmm, that feels so good,” he moaned.

Hearing that aroused her even more as she began slowly sucking and licking him. Feeling his pulse quicken, Danielle didn't want him to let go, not just yet. She moaned as she took off her panties and slowly let herself slide on top of him. The moment she lowered herself onto him, it was all he could do not to explode.

Caressing her breasts and nipples with his tongue, he felt her squeeze her musc
les tighter around him. After placing his hands on her waist, he met her motions with his own causing her to call out his name. The tempo of their lovemaking picked up speed until both felt the familiar quivers and waves and climaxed together. Collapsing onto his chest, she rested there listening to the beat of his heart and feeling the heaving of his chest as their waves of pleasure subsided.

“That was amazing Danielle, anytime you want to wake me up like that, feel free,” he said over breakfast.

“I'll keep that in mind lover. Oh I wish you didn’t have to go to work, I could spend the whole day with you in bed.”

“Don't tempt me babe, even though I’d love to I have to go in and check on the work site. But how about this I'll go in, make sure everything is ru
nning smoothly and if there are no problems, I'll leave early. I’ll stop and pick up some more wine, get a few snacks and we can spend the rest of the day in bed, watching movies, eating, drinking, and making love. How's that sound?”

“Mitch, you'd do that
for me?”

“In a heartbeat Danielle. I told you I want to make you happy in every way and believe me, there's nothing I’d like more. Don't forget I'm the boss and that has its advantages.”

“Mitch, that's a great idea, and while you’re gone I'll log into work and catch up on the inventory and by the time your back I'll be done.”

“Hey Danielle, since you can log in and what not from your laptop, have you thought about working from home? I mean just until this whole stalking thing blows over?
Don't get me wrong babe, I'm not trying to tell you what to do, it's just an idea. I know how much you love Vic and Joe. I bet they would have no problem letting you work from home till this blows over.”

“I don’t know Mitch. I mean I've gone to work every day since I starte
d, it would feel so weird not driving to work, not being able to see the paperwork right there in front of me you know? I'll think about it, I really will and I'll see what Vic and Joe think as well.”

“You’re not mad at me for suggesting it are you Daniell
e?”  Mitch looked at her with pleading eyes.

“Not at all babe, not at all. Now go so you can come back,” she said wrapping her arms around him and kissing him.

“And give Vic and Joe my love if you stop by the store today.”

“I will babe.”

Making that the first stop before getting to the site, Vic gave Mitch a hearty hug when he walked in the door.

“Oh there he is! Well don't you look rested, how was the cabin honey? Did you all have a good time?”

“Oh it was great Vic.”

“Good, good, and how
is our Danielle?”

“She's great.”

“She still out at your place?”

“Yeah, she’s going to move in Vic,” Mitch smiled.

“Oh Mitch that's wonderful, she'll be safe there with you.”

“Yes she will, it took a bit of convincing but she's all for it and things have ne
ver been better.”

“Well good for you!”

“Hey Vic, have you heard?”

“Heard what honey?”

“About Jason and Shayla?”

“Oh that? That's old news honey, Jason came in here early this morning hooting and hollering about him and Shayla getting married and they are g
onna plan an engagement party, it's all so exciting isn't it?”

“Yes it is Danielle and I are thrilled. She's the maid of honor and I'm to be the best man!”

“Oh he didn't tell me that, too damn excited about Shayla saying yes I guess. Oh Mitch that's wonderful.”

“I thought I heard your voice,” said Joe as he came in from the lumber yard. Shaking Mitch's hand he said, “How are ya Mitch? How was the cabin?”

“It was great, just great.”

“Hey Joe, Vic, I gotta ask you guys, has that idiot been in here at all?”

“Can't say that he has Mitch, you know I would have told you buddy. Besides, I think he knows he's not welcome in here anymore but if he does show, you'll be the first to know. Now go on and pull your truck around back, got some more 2x4's for ya.”

Giving Vi
c a kiss goodbye and sending Danielle's love, Mitch picked up his lumber and drove off to work.

While logging onto the store's secure website to catch up on some work, Danielle thought about what Mitch had said earlier. Is it going to get that bad that I
need to work from home? She thought. Well if the police would go ahead and catch the guy, build their case and put him away, I won't have to. But on the other hand if they don't, I may just have to start working from home. I hate the thought of trying to hide from this asshole. I'll give it a few weeks and see where things are with the police; in the meantime I can work from home and finish my vacation time.

“Work from home,” she said out loud. “I guess this is my home now and it's a strange but incredibly
nice feeling,” she murmured happily as she got to work on the stores online inventory. Maybe I can finish before Mitch comes back early, that is if he can, she thought to herself. How nice it would be to spend the day with him alone, and in bed.

About an
hour into her work, she decided to go upstairs and take a shower. Just in case Mitch does come back early, she thought to herself.

Logging out of the system and heading upstairs, she thought about locking up.
Nah, no need, besides Mitch will be back here soon hopefully and I've nothing to worry about here thank god
.

“Looks like Neanderthal left for the day.” Ethan stared at the large house as if he were talking to it. “Well now it's time for me to show them just who they’re dealing with. Oh I'm not
taking you today Danielle. I’m simply preparing, checking out the surroundings. You went away and didn't tell me Danielle.  You and Neanderthal are going to have to pay for that.”

Getting out of the SUV that he still had available to him, Ethan shut the d
oor quietly. Even though he had parked far enough away, he didn't want to take any chances of being heard. Taking a dirt path about five hundred feet from Mitch's house he found his way into the back yard. The stone fence was easy enough to step over as he crept along it and neared the outdoor patio. Staying close to the edge, he made it up to the sliding glass doors leading into the kitchen. He was just in time to watch Danielle, who with her back to him, had just finished doing something on the computer and was headed up the stairs. Whispering, Ethan said, “Probably going into his bedroom, and just what are you going to do Danielle?” Not being able to resist, he tried the handle of the sliding glass door. It opened with ease and not hearing any kind of alarm, eased it open inch by inch until he could fit his bulky body through.

As he walked through the kitchen, he made a bee line for the stairs. Listening carefully, he heard the shower turn on in the upstairs bathroom.

Feeling already aroused, he went up the stairs quietly, and listened for anything unexpected. Turning around once again, he made sure he had left the patio doors open for when he needed to make his quick retreat.

When he made it up the stairs, he followed the sound of the shower. Creeping
along the wall he found the source and entered Mitch's bedroom. Just seeing the escaping steam from the half open door in the bathroom made him want to catch a glimpse of Danielle even more. He tried to tiptoe over but found that it was taking too much time, so he casually walked over to the bathroom door. In a few more steps he would be in the bathroom with his Danielle. What part of her body is she washing I wonder? Ethan thought to himself as he crept further into the bathroom.

Danielle stood under the s
hower head and let the hot water caress and sooth her mind and body. Reaching for her favorite shampoo and lathering up, she massaged her scalp with coconut scented shampoo. When its rich lather dripped into her eyes, Danielle didn't want to feel that awful sting and as she reached for her towel it fell onto the bathroom floor.

Pulling back the shower curtain, she reached for it and as she did she felt something very odd. She quickly pulled back her hand. With a weak laugh she said, “Mitch? Is that you?” H
earing no response she wiped off the lather with her hand and opened her eyes, there was no one there, but she knew what she felt, it had been a shoe.

Shivering now, she jumped out of the shower and almost slipped as she did. She grabbed the towel and wra
pped it around herself, she reached for her robe that was hanging behind the door and put that on as well.

“Mitch? Stop playing games, I know it's you.”

No response came, but she heard the faint sound of footsteps descending the stairs. Deep down she knew it wasn't Mitch; Mitch would never scare her like that, not with all that’s been going on.  Leaning up against the closed bathroom door, Danielle knew she had to get out of there; she had to get to the phone.

Cracking the door little by little and hoping i
t wouldn’t make a sound, she got down on her hands and knees, and crawled over to the night stand by the bed. Dialing 911 she waited for the dispatcher;

“911, what is your emergency?”

“Yes, my name is Danielle Martins and I live at 445 Nutmeg Ridge, I think someone has broken in,” she whispered into the phone.

“Are they still there ma'am?”

“I don't know!”

“Where are you ma'am?”

“I'm upstairs in the bedroom.”

“Can you get out of the house ma'am?”

“No! the only way is downstairs and I don't know where they are.”

“Okay ma'am, stay where you are, I'm sending officers right now.”

“Please hurry!” Danielle could no longer hold back the tears as they streamed down her face.

“Ma'am I need you to calm down, do you hear anything ma'am?”

And as if on cue, came the ear splitting sound of glass breaking, and the sound was coming from the lower level of the house. Ethan in his rage was throwing the heavy ceramic potted plants that Mitch had placed all along the fence, directly into the sliding glass doors and windows. One at a time he picked up each plant and hurled them at the windows with all his might. He broke every window facing the back yard before sprinting off and away from the house.

Screaming in panic, Danielle dropped the phone and ran back into the bathroom, thi
s time she locked the door.

“Ma'am? Ma'am? Are you there? Ma'am, help is on the way.”

Knowing that the phone was not disconnected, the dispatcher stayed on the line as she notified officers that victim may be in serious danger, use caution. She dispatched using code two, no lights or sirens when approaching.

Jason had happened to pass by Mitch's work site and while pulling in to say hello, he saw Mitch reaching for his cell.

“Oh hey buddy what’s up? Did I catch you at a bad time?”

“No, I was going to take the rest of the day off but I can't, these guys seem lost today and I don't want to take any chances with this dry wall we have to do. I was just about to call Danielle and cancel our date.”

“Listen, I won't keep ya buddy, just sa
w the truck and thought I’d stop by and see what’s up.”

“Nothing much man, just trying to keep busy, how's the engagement going?” Mitch asked before pausing to answer his cell phone.

“Oh wait hang on, this is probably Danielle.”

“Hello?”

“Hey Mitch it's m
e Mike.”

“Hey buddy, any news on Ethan?”

“No, but Mitch listen to me, 911 just got a distress call from your home address.”

The color completely drained out of Mitch's face.

“The dispatcher is still on the line, but there's no response. It's a code two Mitch, no lights, no sirens, that's the call for serious danger, get home Mitch and be careful!”
