They looked at her with a combination of surprise and frustration. “Were you looking for us?” Kyler asked.

“No, running into you two was just a happy coincidence.” Sierra answered with a smile. She was sure Agnon had made it to the second level. Brenda pushed on around her rushing toward medical. “Looks like a medical emergency. Is she sick or something?”

“What happened to us, Sierra? We were good together, I wanted to marry you. You looked surprised but surely you knew.”

“I never saw any signs that you were any more
involved than I was which was strictly casual. We hadn’t seen each other for almost four months.”

“Our crazy schedules got in the way but I missed you. I decided I wanted to keep you because you meant something to me. Now it’s all gone down the drain. I’m not sure I can be happy without you, are you really so sure you’ll be happy without me?”

“I can’t see what the future will bring, but I stand by my choice to move on. I’m sorry if that hurt you, Kyler, but I’ve already moved on.”

“You made your choice, Sierra. Never forget I gave you another chance to change your mind.”

Speaking with Kyler made her nervous because he was so cryptic. He was up to something, there was no doubt now but what it was still wasn’t clear. It was also suspicious how he seemed to know when certain things were happening. The worry and suspicions formed in her mind tightening to a hard resolve. She hurried to her baby, who wouldn’t be named until Zeus was present. The truth was they had gotten down to two names, Athena which Zeus wanted, and Rachel which Sierra wanted. Zeus preferred Athena because he said it continued his heritage, which was why Sierra didn’t like it. Zeus had argued that it would be the start of a positive side to combat the negative feeling of their creation and subsequent imprisonment, when had he started talking like a shrink? She wanted Rachel because it was her beloved great grandmother’s name and she wanted to honor her and keep her memory alive.

They both had good reasons for their choice
s, and she knew she would probably give in eventually but it was good to make him work for it and maybe she would negotiate something from him like naming the next child. Meanwhile, she and Athena Rachel needed to search out Agnon to see if her suspicions were right or not. “I need you to do something for me, Agnon.” She said when she finally found him.

He smiled with a slight hint of mischief. “Anything for you, Sierra.”

“Agnon, are you flirting?” She asked shocked since that was unusual for him. He must have hung out with Hermes too much.

“If I was, did I do it right?”

“Perfect, I would say. You will have females fighting to be with you.” She really liked all the gods she had met so far but some like Eres and Agnon were special. She felt like they were brothers, sometimes they seemed younger like when they talked about life skills but sometimes they seemed older with their fighting skills and abilities. Right now it made her feel much older when faced with his lack of knowledge into what women might like. He was endearing right now so happy with the praise she had given him. It almost made her forget what she had come to see him for.

“Agnon, the favor I need is very important. I want you to go see Buzz and tell him I need a sweep done on the first level for any kind of listening or surveillance devices. I also need some
devices placed around Kyler and his team. Not in the bedrooms or bathrooms because I don’t even want to see that, but in the areas they might congregate or he might give them instructions. Tell him to make them high tech and camouflage them well. Kyler might be an asshole, but he’s good at his job when he bothers to do it.”

“I’ll take care of it and you won’t have to worry about a thing, I promise.”

“Thanks, I know I can count on you.” Agnon left to take care of things while Sierra went to lie down with her baby. Even though she had noticed changes, had even felt an odd whisper of voices in the back of her mind, she still felt tired in the aftermath of bringing her baby into the world. It was a world she was now committed, even more so than before if that was even possible, to making a better place.

Chapter 6

Freedom For All

He was in a hurry to get back to his mate and his new daughter but the mission was delayed and then once more there were gods missing. The numbers didn’t add up
, some of his people were gone. It was not just at one site, but at both. These were gods he might never find again, so it hit hard and hurt deep. It was like Origin was playing a game, shuffling gods and demons around to unknown destinations. It wasn’t his only problem.

Hermes had been in Washington checking out surplus equipment they might be interested in buying and discussing possible missions with his military liaison, Mark, who was Sierra’s commanding officer. He had not checked in
for three days now and when Mark sent people to check his hotel room, it was obvious he hadn’t been there. As soon as they returned someone would have to try to hunt him down. Zeus wanted to believe that Hermes had gotten carried away with the outside world and simply forgotten his duties, but gods weren’t made that way. The more time that passed, the more concerned he became and the more he feared someone had taken him.

This flight back seemed so much longer than the others had because he longed to see his females so much. Sierra had been in a daze, so tired from carrying his baby that she had been downright submissive. He knew that would be over now that little Athena was born. He would win the naming, he knew he would because Sierra loved him and it meant too much to him. It would probably be the last
argument he would win for a very long time. Sierra would be alert now and all up in his business, but he didn’t mind. She was smart and knew things that no one else seemed to know.

He regretted some of the choices he had been forced to make. One of those was sending the prisoners that were captured during the attacks to the US military. That had been Kyler’s doing, but he should have spoken to Sierra first. Way had been against giving up the prisoners but Kyler had said his government feared they would be mistreated and might pull the support the gods currently relied on. Of course once they were gone, no question
s were answered. It was like they fell into a big black hole of silence. All Zeus had found out from them before they were led away was that they worked for Origin and they were deathly afraid of someone nearby. He wasn’t sure if Origin had a base close to them or if it was someone in or in and out of the facility. Besides Kyler and his team, there were some others who regularly visited. They wouldn’t say why they wanted Sierra, only that they were sent in to take her or one of her team if she wasn’t there.

He had felt better when he left knowing Doc had agreed to check on her hourly. It had proven to be a good thing since she had gone in to find Sierra moaning in her sleep as labor
pains struck but they were far enough apart that Doc had gotten her to medical safely. It worried him that Kyler had suspected Sierra had given birth and bothered him even more that Kyler thought the baby his. It was just one more reason he needed to get back to his females. He felt guilty and not just for leaving Sierra when Athena was so close to being born, but for not mating her fully before she was with child. It would have made it easier on her had he done it before, but because the pregnancy had sapped her strength, the change had finished too slowly to be of any help to her while she carried their daughter inside her. The next one would be easier.

His mind drifted back to the mission they had just completed. The location had been a small, private island owned by Origin. It was how they had continued to operate their lab and keep gods imprisoned without anyone knowing. At least most people didn’t know because someone had found out and told the US government or he wouldn’t have freed some of his people. They had rented a yacht to blend in and landed on the back of the island. Pedro had come in handy dividing his men between the two missions and hitting the jackpot on lab equipment, boats, motorcycles, and other valuable items. Pedro had come with him leaving his second to go with Ares. He had never been so glad for bullet proof vests and super healing powers in his life. Several gods had been hit in their vests, one had been clipped on the side of his head. The wound was already healed so no one would ever guess any of them had been hit. Pedro had scored on personnel too since the
re were twice as many there as the last place.

The island had looked like paradise but for his gods it had been hell. It seemed to Zeus that Origin was punishing the gods left in their merciless care
because of those who had escaped them. They had not been treated as poorly as the demons who didn’t look as human as the gods, but they were not treated well either. They had been put in cages within a walled and roofed area with no climate control. If there was a heavy rain or wind, water sprayed on them from outside. All of them showed signs of being malnourished and none were clean or dressed at all. A zoo would treat its animals better and for that he wanted to punish those staff they found but Pedro assured him that paying to get their staff back would hurt the company. He hoped Pedro was right because he wanted to crush them utterly.

The walls of the compound where they were held had been hard to breach. They had finally decided to use explosives to speed the rescue.
A handful of guards with rifles were the only ones that had put up a fight, but they had been trained. They had been shooting to kill but they were lucky the gods had been shooting just to wound enough they couldn’t fight anymore. He doubted Origin would pay to get back their guards since they hadn’t prevented the rescue from succeeding.

“A penny for your thoughts, Zeus. You don’t look as happy as you should after a successful rescue.” Dione said as he moved into the seat next to him.

“It wasn’t a fully successful rescue since half those that should have been there were missing. We may never find those brothers again in this life.”

“Do not grieve for them just yet, instead celebrate for those we have saved. Celebrate for your mate who is an exceptional human and your daughter who is our future.” He patted Zeus on the back encouragingly.

“I know you are right but the others I failed leave a hole in my heart nothing can fill.” Dione moved back to where he had been before. The god was the life of any party and could not handle sadness for long. Zeus appreciated his attempt to cheer him up but it had been a wasted effort.

“Do you think she will be back to normal soon.” Eres said from just behind him. He knew he meant Sierra because it was the only female Eres cared about except for the new goddess, Athena, that all the men were excited to see. Not as excited as he was, but very excited none the less.

“I’m sure she will be, she is nothing if not tough.” He said smiling at the thought of his feisty, beautiful mate.

The plane landed a few hours later
, not nearly soon enough to suit Zeus. Other than having his daughter to welcome into the world, Zeus had a feeling that some serious shit was going down. It wasn’t what Doc, Way, or Sierra had told him when he called for updates, it was the sense that they kept something from him. It was what they didn’t say, the small silences when they seemed to want to tell him something more, but didn’t, that concerned him. He wanted to run in and find his girls, Sierra and Athena, hug them and assure himself all was well with them, but he was a leader among his kind and that would have to wait. Right now, it was essential that his newly freed gods be smuggled in, even though this was their home which was supposed to be their haven. The presence of Kyler was like a menace to each and every one of his people and Sierra’s team as well.

The gods started unloading for the walk from the landing zone to the facility which was less than a quarter o
f a mile. The weather was milder than it had been, since it was summer now so it made it easier to move them quickly. It also helped that even though his gods had been mistreated, they were still stronger and faster than a full human could possibly be. They moved quickly and quietly in single file with Eres leading the way. Agnon was in charge of watching Kyler and his team which were really the only concern Zeus had about hiding the presence of his newly arrived gods. Sierra’s team was trusted for the most part, aware of the rescuing of the gods and demons, but not yet aware of the tiny new life that had been brought into their world. They would be told as soon as Kyler and his team were gone.

The march had only energized him, making him almost euphoric when they reached the door and continued in. Several gods were waiting on them to get them cleaned up, clothed, and fed. Their conditions as far as their accommodations went, wouldn’t be much better than before, but they were free and they would be well tended to. Improvements would come in stages and at least they would be among their brothers. Ares
’ group had been successful as well, but his numbers were also low. It looked like Origin was aware that someone was after their gods. They were smart to divide them making it harder for them to be rescued, but Zeus would see them all free someday. He went to his room to clean up before meeting his baby girl for the first time and seeing his mate again. That was when he would find out what was really going on.

He stripped once he was in his room, getting in the shower where thoughts of his mate made him hard instantly. She controlled his body even when she wasn’t present, but he knew she wouldn’t feel like sating his desire so soon after having a child. He put her firmly in his mind as he got a handful of slippery body wash then concentrated on the part of him that hurt with need for her. He
started by soaping his balls thoroughly, rubbing and pulling gently until his cock was so hard it dripped from the end. In his mind he imagined his mate’s hand touching him instead of his own. It would have to do for now, but he hoped it wouldn’t be long before they could enjoy the passion they shared.
