I was nearing the light.
I didn’t stop, because I didn’t want him to go missing.  As I got even closer to the light, I saw Edmund standing in front of a person sitting down, and someone else was next to the guy sitting down. I ran even faster to get to the light.

BOOM!
I tripped over a thick log. I fell on my face. I looked up and I saw their faces staring at me. I got up and then jogged closer to them.

When I got there, I noticed two adults looking at me while Edmund was sitting on the ground, holding a big bag of Ramblington chips and taking a big amount of chips with each hand. He had crumbs around his mouth and his eyes were wide open staring into the bag.

“I see, so this must be the brown haired, freckled one you were talking about” one of the old men said while smoking a cigarette.
He inhaled the smoke in the cigarette and then exhaled the smoke through his nose.

“Well, aren’t you a pretty person. Usually stalkers are ugly people. Am I right Jordan?” the second old man said while chuckling.

I was offended by that comment. So Edmund considers me a stalker, that’s a really nice thing to say about a girl who stopped him from eating a dead mouse.
I grunted.

“Kaelor, you okay? We came after you to—” Aoi stopped talking as she stood next me.
Paige, Hana-yon, and Kaelinda were right behind her.

“Well, here’s the rest of his group.” The first old man said while exhaling three smoke rings.

The second man opened a chip bag that read ‘Doritos’.

“I didn’t know this country had those.” I said while feeling the area where the branch hit my face.

“Oh they do, would you like some?” The second one said while passing it to me.

I grabbed the bag with no hesitation and ate. I hope they don’t want anything

back. Like my mom always said, nothing comes free.

The second man took out a bag of Cheetos, and passed it to Aoi.

“What is this?” she asked arrogantly.

“Whoa, you better take that arrogance out your voice or you get none.” The second man said, while taking the first man’s cigarette and inhaling the smoke.

“Fine, what is this?” Aoi asked.

“It’s Cheetos chips.  They come from the United States of America.
Try them” The man said.

She passed the Cheetos back.  “I want Towtow chips” she said.

“Okay little girl, you can get some Towtow chips.” The second man said while handing her Towtow chips. “Here you take the Cheetos” he said to Hana-yon.

She took the chips while flashing untrusting eyes at him.

They must want something from all of us. I thought.

Edmund stood up and rolled the bag up and stretched. “That was good! Kaelinda, your family makes great chips” he said.

“So who exactly are you two? And what do you want from us?” Paige asked the two men.

“Finally, a smart one!” The first man said, while taking the cigarette away from the second man.

“We want you to solve some riddles. They are not too hard, and not to easy” he said as he exhaled smoke.

It just hit me!  He must be the riddling guy Blake was talking about.

“And what happens if we solve them?” Paige asked.

“You get past here alive.” The second guy said smiling.

I gulped. These riddles better be the easiest in the book.

“So if we don’t solve them, we die?” Paige said.

“Yup, unless you can run like Mia Consi or as most of you would know speed girl from those cartoons, which is impossible,” The first guy said, while pulling out a pocket knife and rubbing his hands against the blade.

Mia Consi is a super hero from a cartoon that has the power to run fast, like flash and wonder woman.  I sighed.  I’m not going to make it out of here alive.

“You got yourself a
deal!” Edmund said like a dummy.

I gave myself a face palm. This
dork, I’m surprised that I can even deal with him.

“I guess this one is the dunce” The second man said while laughing.

I snickered.

“Why don’t we start, shall we?” Paige said while checking out the  the area.

“Ok.  This riddle is for the stalker,” the first guy said.

“No. It’s for all of us,” Aoi said while holding her staff upright.

“Very well, then.” The man paused. “I am an hourglass. I am purple. I am of high height, but of low width.  I can cartwheel but I can’t handstand.  I can hide, but I can’t run.  I can throw, but I can’t catch, what am I?” the first guy said while smiling.

I tried to think of an hourglass that was purple, and of high height, but low width. I think it’s an hour glass, though people don’t put the answer out there like that.  So, it can’t be an hourglass.

An hourglass would be able to handstand.  I thought.  As they say, people who pass puberty, they get curves, and one of the shapes they list, is an hourglass. I nodded. I’m getting it! There are women that are tall and skinny shaped like hourglasses, yes! I have seen women tall and skinny cartwheel.  Most of them don’t handstand.  Yes! I’m so, going to get this right.  Ok, so they can hide.  Anyone can, and they can run, but most people with a banana shape are the ones that run.  Yes, yes, yes! I’m going to get away from here

alive.  I nodded again.  I’m stumped! This part is hard.  A woman can throw, but anyone can.  I can’t catch… Hmmm, that’s kind of hard. It suddenly came to me. A woman who plays as the pitcher in baseball! I did a short happy dance.

“The stalker looks like she knows the answer,” the first guy said while letting out a dry cough.

I chuckled.  “I got you guys all wrapped around my finger! I know the answer” I paused.

Everyone was looking at me, with eyes that were asking what the answer was. I grunted.

“What’s the problem?  Cat got your tongue?” The second guy asked while playing with a blood stained pocket knife.

“The answer is…the answer is it’s a woman” I paused and looked at Aoi and Hana-yon. They nodded. “A woman who plays a sport.”  I paused.

“Is that your answer?” The second man asked in a tone that teachers use to
confuse students, after they give the right answer.

“No” I said, hoping everybody caught on to what I was saying. “It’s a woman who plays, as a pitcher.”  I paused again, looking around.

“I see what you’re doing.  You’re trying to give everyone the answer.  Now you’re gonna die for cheating!” The first guy said while getting up off of his chair.

“It’s a shame.  You were right; too bad you don’t have a heart of stone.  If you did, you would get out of here alive and they would be left to answer their own riddles.”

The second guy said while stomping on the first guy’s cigarette.

I backed away.  Everyone else backed up too. The first and second man lunged at us with the pocket knife.

I grabbed Aoi who was closest and I ran into the woods.
It’s amazing what you do when you have adrenaline rushing in your veins. I dashed through the woods, jumping over everything and squatting below anything I could. I was in front of Aoi.

“No! Please stop!” I heard a muffled yell of pain. It sounded like Kaelinda.

“Ouch! Stop!” I heard another voice yell.  It sounded like Edmund.
I stopped and gulped.

“Why don’t we make this slow and painful!”  I heard one of the men yell.

I heard someone say, “No! Stop, you psycho killer!”  It sounded like Kaelinda.

I turned around and ran back.  I was followed by Aoi.  I couldn’t let my friends die like that.

After a distance I ran into someone. I fell on my butt and rubbed my forehead.
I looked at who I ran into. It was Kaelinda. She was crying.  I couldn’t see her face, but I recognized her voice.

“Run, run! Turn around run! Before they realize I’m gone!” Kaelinda said struggling to get up. I helped her up as I stood up.

“Kaelinda it’s me, Kaelor.  Where is everyone?  Are they alive?” I asked.

“Yes.  No… I don’t know! I ran when Paige threw a kunai dagger at them.” she said trying to push past me.

I ran past her. “Aoi, you and Kaelinda run! Run as far as you can!” I said as I ran closer to the light that came into my sight. I dashed towards it. When I got to the light, I saw Paige fighting them. Edmund pushed past me as he ran in the direction I came from. I gulped. Where’s my staff?  I looked on the ground. It was next to Hana-yon who was lying there, unconscious?  She didn’t look dead.

I dashed over to my staff.   When I grabbed it, suddenly, someone grabbed my forearm.

I grunted. This won’t end well I thought.  I got cut on the forearm and I let out a yelp of pain.
I pushed the button on the staff.  I let out another grunt.  Then I was cut again in my forearm, a little closer to my elbow this time.  I let out another yelp of pain as I felt a tear come down my cheek. I looked up.

The man who was causing me pain, had an evil grin on his face.

Then a kunai dagger was coming in my direction.  I dodged it and pulled myself out of the man’s grasp.
It hit him in his arm. He let out a yelp of pain this time.

“Not this one again.” he said as he turned around.
I looked in the direction where the kunai came from. I saw a man on the ground.  He didn’t look dead.  He just looked like he was pressure pointed. I looked to Paige, who was covered in cuts. She was so mad, she could have shot  daggers with her eyes.

I bent
down again, and then shook Hana-yon in an attempt to wake her up.

Hana-yon had a big bruise on her forehead and a few
cuts on her face. I grunted. Well, she couldn’t have been knocked out like that, she must have been pressure pointed too.  She’ll wake up soon enough.

Suddenly, I felt someone yank my hair back.  I looked up to see who it was.  It was the man; he pulled my hair so I would come up from my squatting position.  Then he p
ointed the knife towards my neck.

I grunted again.  He was not giving up, was he?

Then, Paige stood in front of us, a distance away.  She sighed.

“Your friend or me?  It’s your choice.” the man said.

Paige massaged her temples.  She looked mad.

“Yah!”  I heard someone yell.  It was Edmund.  I saw the man move the knife away from my neck and I felt all of his weight on me. Was he dead?

I turned my head to look at his face.  He wasn’t dead, just knocked out. Well that was the end of this situation I thought as I shook him off of me.  I felt my neck. Thank goodness I wasn’t hurt!

“Are you okay?” I heard Paige ask.

I nodded as I pointed to Hana-yon, “Yup, I’m fine but, what’s wrong with Hana-yon?” I asked.

“Oh, she just got knocked out.” Paige said while coming towards me.  She squatted and then shook Hana-yon.

“Hmph, it’s seems she won’t wake up from a shake,” Paige said trying to sound like an adult.
She grunted. I looked at the arm she shook Hana-yon with.  There were a couple of wounds on it.

“This might wake her up,” Edmund said as he banged his staff on the metal of the tent.  It made a loud metal clang and Hana-yon sprang up to the world of the living.

I grabbed her and pulled her up.

“What happened, who is that?” she asked.

I remembered that when you get knocked out like that, the first thing you get is your smell, then hearing, then sight.  Or is it hearing, smell, then sight? Oh well, whatever. “It’s me, Kaelor” I replied, before giving Hana-yon a hug.

“Oh”.  She stood  up and rubbed her bruise. “Ouch! Where’s Kaelinda, and Aoi” she said scanning the area.

“Oops, I forgot that I told them to run.  So they probabaly are somewhere in the woods now.” I said.

“Which way did they go?” Paige asked.

“They ran deeper into the woods…I think.” I said while recalling when we turned around and ran into Kaelinda.

“Ok, so which way? This way or that way?” Paige asked while putting her arms out.

“That way,” I said as I pointed to the arm facing the way we came to get here.

“So, farther down?” Paige asked.

I nodded.
