“More baked troll heads, Josie, darling? I know they’re your favourite.”
“Lord Leatherfitz von Stratusbourne, if I did not know better, I would think you were attempting to plump me up.”
“Lady Longbellye, your form is absolutely divine, my dear. An ounce or two more here or there could only enhance your beauty and give me more dragon to adore. Perhaps you care for more Oreorcan marmalade on your pastry, eh hem?”
“Oh, Lee, you are incorrigible. I am relieved that the ancient dragon eggs of the Genesis Flower are now, at last, in safe hands. Once more, dragons will mark these lands.”
“Yes, m’Lady, but my only thoughts are to your comfort, here in my Dragon’s Maw Eyrie retreat. You have made me so happy, darling, when you agreed to share my humble caves.”
“Eternal happiness was mine at the invitation, m’Lord. Speaking of which, isn’t it a delight to see such happiness for Baron Brimstone and Oliver Droolbuckets?”
“Indeed, my dear, I had no idea that either one of them flew that way.”
“Lee, the smoke and ash of the Age of Darkness has now completely dissipated. The Age of Tranquility has settled over the lands. I think this Age will last a long, long, time.”
“I believe you’re right, Josie, my love.”
“I was sad to see the halflet and his mates lost in the second cataclysm. You don’t suppose they survived some how, do you?”
“Persephone spoke of the halflet’s tenacity. Perhaps they still live, in some wondrous land, far away.”
“Do you think that he and Persephone will live forever in happiness, as is prophesied for Middle o’ Earthhe?”
“I should like to think so, my sweet Duchess. Let’s see, didn’t Enauck have something to say here?”
Odd to our lore,
and of singular ability,
these strange little flowers did blow.
Their deeds sung evermore,
through the Age of Tranquility,
the human spirit our descendants will know.
Bountiful lands filled with joy,
every species makes merry,
as the races turn to love from rage.
Farewell girl and boy,
from the dwarves to the faeries,
Noble races act with wisdom sage.
Cheery shall be the times,
for inhabitants of Middle o’ Earthhe,
their joy spread from the roots to the rafter.
In song and in rhymes,
they express their worth,
and all lived happily ever after.
-From the Epoch of Enauck
The End.
