Chapter Thirty-Two

Minka sat in Morocco’s house with Milan and Donovan. Ashley had work and Ashland had school, otherwise they would be there to support her, also. Minka kept a straight face, never showing any emotion. She was cried out and ready for answers. Morocco walked in the living room with a white and black floor length Kimono, grasping a glass of wine in her hand. Robert came right behind her. He just didn’t want his and Minka’s fling to come out during this discussion.

“Hello, Mom,” Minka spoke. Morocco looked at Minka strangely before she spoke.

“It’s Morocco. Hi, Milan. I miss you  and wish you would come home.” Morocco voiced. Milan looked away and held on to Donovan’s arm tighter.

“Like I said before, hello, Mom,” Minka stated again. She was determined to get Morocco to acknowledge her as her daughter.

“And like I said, it’s Morocco to you. Minka, this is just like you – calling this meeting. What are we all here for?” Morocco pronounced.

“We are here to sweep up all the lies you swept under the carpet all these years. It’s about time to throw some of that trash in garbage. It’s getting a little too dusty in here, don’t ya think.”

“Speak, Minka. You have the floor. There is no trash or dust or whatever you’re talking about.”

“I would like to know why you never told me you were raped by George when you were sixteen. Tell me why you never told me I was a product of rape and that was why you couldn’t love me.” Morocco looked horrified and started to shake. She sat the glass on the end table.

“Stop talking your fucking lies, Minka. I was never raped!” Morocco screamed.

“Why are you shaking and getting upset dear?” Robert interjected. He was now beginning to understand why Morocco was the way she was. Cold, no affection and merciless with words.

“She’s fucking lying. I was a virgin when I met you Rob.” Morocco pleaded.

“Mom, who are you fooling? George raped you and you had me. Stop trying to deny it. We all see it in your face,” Minka continued.

“Fuck you, slut bitch! I am not and will never be your mother. Get the fuck out my house.”

“Shut the fuck up, Ma. This house is not even yours. You couldn’t even afford it if it wasn’t for William. Yeah, Dad she is fucking my god-father.” Milan finally spoke up tired of her mother speaking to Minka that way.

“Why don’t you tell her Ma? Tell her how she is not only William’s god daughter but his actual daughter,” Minka revealed.

“Fuck you, too, Milan. You are Robert’s child.” Robert threw his hands up and left the room. Morocco’s features were so prominent he never questioned paternity. To now hear his wife was sleeping with his client and good friend and his daughter wasn’t his, he couldn’t stomach it,

“I had been sleeping with my father and brother for three years. It’s nothing sicker than that. Morocco was raped and conceived me because of it. Robert and I fucked for a year or so before he called it quits. William and Morocco are having an affair and because of it Milan is here. Let’s be honest here, we are sitting here as a family trying to piece this together. Other things may change us but we start and end with family.” Minka got up. She started to feel some cramping. Morocco looked at the wetness on Minka’s green maxi dress.

“Minka, did you piss yourself?” Morocco asked.

“No, I just feel a little pain it will past,” Minka tried to assure her.

“No, you didn’t. I think your water broke, Minka,” Morocco told Minka.

Milan stuck her hand in the wet spot.

“It doesn’t smell like nothing,” Milan advised.

“Her water broke. She’s experiencing pain and the water is clear and odorless. Let’s get her to the hospital.” Morocco jumped up and grabbed her Chanel bag out the kitchen.

Donovan paced the waiting room, anxious to know what was going on. Milan came out and informed him Minka would be delivering the baby that night. Donovan pulled his phone out and dialed Micah. Micah answered right away.

“What going on, Don?”

“Minka is about to deliver this baby. You need to get here ASAP.” Donovan warned.

“She is only eight months. What happened to her? What hospital?”

“Bridgeport hospital. I really don’t know what’s going on. Just get here when you can.”

“Wait, where that is?”

“Connecticut. Hurry up!” Donovan rushed off the phone.

Micah sat up in the bed removing Lisa’s hand away from his waist. The two had a long day and decided to unwind with some TV and head; Micah being the receiving party.

“What’s the matter baby?” Lisa yawned.

“Minka is in labor I need to go.” Micah got up and dressed in some sweats.

“I'm coming, I can get my father to loan me his jet. Let me go call.” Lisa hopped out of bed and rushed to her cellphone. Micah didn’t want to bring her but he would be able to get there sooner on a private flight than commercial. Lisa hung up the phone and walked over to Micah.

“It’s being fueled as we speak. It should be done by the time we get there.” Lisa put her Marc Jacobs sling bag along with her sunglasses. They both exited the house and jumped into Micah’s car in route to Lisa’s father private jet.

Minka started to feel contractions. The doctors didn’t say why her water broke or why she was delivering the baby a month earlier. What they did say was the baby was a good weight and they didn’t expect any complications, but that didn’t mean there wouldn’t be any. Morocco sat holding Minka’s hand. It felt weird and warm at the same time. Minka never so much as hugged her mother so this was comforting to see Morocco put everything that was just said behind her and was there for Minka.

“How many centimeters are you, Minka?” Milan asked coming back in the room.

“Six, they want to see if I dilate before they decide if I'm going to need a C-section. Where is Micah? This baby is coming.” Minka ate a piece of ice Morocco fed her.

“He just called Donovan. They just landed and should be on their way. I called Grams and Gramps and they are going to fly in tomorrow morning,” Milan informed Minka.

“Who are they?”

“Micah and his girlfriend.” Milan regretted having to tell her that. She could kill Micah for bringing his new girl to something so special and secret.

“That’s fine. Let Micah in. His girl can wait in the waiting room.”

“That was the plan from the start.” Milan headed out the room. Her phone was ringing.

Micah and Lisa rushed the halls of the hospital until they were directed to labor and delivery. Micah spotted Donovan sitting with Milan in the waiting area. Milan looked up and frowned at Lisa. Lisa grabbed Micah’s hand and intertwined hers with his.

“What room is she in?” Micah asked.

“She is in this room on the corner.” Donovan pointed. Micah and Lisa rushed toward the room.

“Wait, you can’t go in there.” Milan stopped Lisa.

“Like hell I can’t
. I’m going with my man,” Lisa spat back.

“No, the hell you are not. Why would you think you would be invited to my sister’s birth of her child? We don’t know you, so I suggest sit down or I will call security and you can wait in the parking lot.” Milan sat back down and crossed her legs.

“Lisa, just sit down. I’ll come out in a few,” Micah advised. Lisa looked at him strangely.

“Now I’m ‘Lisa’. Whatever, Micah.” She left Micah and started walking outside, pulling out a pack of cigarettes. Micah shrugged his shoulders and entered the room. Minka was breathing while a lady, who she resembled, fed her ice chips. Micah took his spot on the right of Minka.

“How are feeling?” Micah asked wiping her glistening forehead.

“As good as someone who bout to have a basketball come out of them.” Minka did a nervous chuckle as she played with her charm bracelet. Micah knew that when she was nervous she played with any jewelry she was wearing at that time.

“You will be fine. Miya will be here before we know it.” Micah reassured her.

“I am Micah nice to meet you.” Micah reached his hand across Minka to shake Morocco’s hand. Surprisingly Morocco shook his hand.

“I know who you are, my husband is a fan. I'm going to use the bathroom and I’ll be back, Minka” Morocco laughed. Morocco left the room to sip her wine that she had smuggled and to smoke a cigarette.

“One of your sisters? Older.”

“Nope, my mom. I heard you brought your girl. How respectful.”

“She’s the reason I got here so quick. Let’s not focus on that, let’s focus on our daughter.” Minka rubbed her head ignoring Micah. She regretted inviting him.

Chapter Thirty-
Three

After twelve intense hours of labor, Minka held a 7 pound 4 oz. sandy brown haired, Miya Morocco Jackson. Minka named her Morocco because even though she was a terrible mother, it wasn’t her fault. She didn’t get to enjoy her first born, like Minka was able to, and she hoped Miya would grow up to have her grandmother in her life. Micah sat next to Minka with his cellphone out snapping pictures for Sharlean and Charles. His light brown eyes were misty with emotion. He couldn’t believe he was actually a father. Miya looked so much like him and Minka mixed.

“Minkas, you must of hated Micah through your pregnancy, that baby look just like him,” Milan joked and reached for the baby. Minka handed the baby back and popped her breast back in her shirt.

“Not hate, I just disliked him.” She sat her head back to rest a little bit. Minka was relived Miya didn’t have any problems. She was perfect weight but the doctors wanted to keep her in NICU to keep an eye on her.

“She fronting, she loves me. The real question is will the doctor let you fly back to Florida with a new born?” Micah probed.

“Now why would I be going to Florida? I live in California. He said in a couple days he will let me know. Right now I need to get some rest and enjoy my freedom before I have to deal with Miya on my own.”

“How will I see her? I want to be very involved in my daughter’s life and the only way that’s possible is if you move back to Florida.”

“I never said you couldn’t be; I actually encourage it. You can come see her anytime you want,” Minka said

“It’s not my business but I don’t think this should be a topic of discussion right now. Little Miya hasn’t been in the world for a day and you’re already arguing about supervision and visits. I think you need to check on your girlfriend because she is chain smoking like crazy out there,” Donovan advised. His god-daughter was the prettiest angel he ever laid his eyes on. Micah arguing about where Minka and Miya were going was irrelevant right now. Micah cut his eyes at Donovan and left the room. He went into the waiting room to see Lisa sitting with an attitude.

“How long is this going to take? Can we leave?” Lisa snorted.

“They are moving Minka upstairs now. You can get a hotel room but I’ll be up here all night. She is so beautiful.” Micah showed Lisa a picture on his phone. Lisa scoffed. She was jealous. She wanted Micah to pay her some attention not that little baby. In that moment, Lisa thought maybe she should have Micah’s baby.

“You’re not looking Lisa; I don’t know why I even showed you.”

“I'm tired. I’m going back to Florida and you can fly commercial. You have practice tomorrow so don’t think about missing it.”

“I can ask for some time. I just had a child.” Micah countered. Lisa rolled her eyes and got up to leave as Micah shook his head. Lisa was used to getting everything she wanted but this was one time someone came before her and that was, Miya.
