That part of a cruciform church in which the transepts cross the nave.
cross-ridge dyke
[MC].
A bank and ditch, sometimes a ditch between two banks, crossing a ridge or spur of high ground. Such features are often of the later Bronze Age and Iron Age in northwest Europe.

crown glass

The main method of making sheets of glass in the 18th century
ad
was to fix a ball of semi-molten glass to the end of a rod and spin it into a disc up to 1.5m across. This left the characteristic thickened ring where the disc was broken from the rod.
crucible

A small clay bowl used for re-melting smelted metal so that it can be poured into a mould.
