I accepted his soft demand for many reasons. Although I
wanted to take that step toward experiencing a physically intimate bond with
him, I did not want to do it while we were both bone tired and with my roommate
sleeping nearby. Besides, the time for that would come, and since it turned out
that I was an Enchanter too, there was no need to rush things.

Our love for each other was as strong as our magical
abilities, and when the time was right, we would take that step. For now, we
wanted to see what else life would toss our way.

As I waited for Brandon’s arrival next to Vanessa’s car at
Direct City Community College’s parking lot, I tried to envision what my next
encounter with Natalie would be like. During our brief conversations after the
incident with Adon, Brandon had confessed that Natalie was very interested in
him. I had tried to let go of Brandon before, when his love for me could cause
him to betray everything his people worked for. But now that that was no longer
an issue, I was not about to toss everything away. I had ruined things between
us once, that was not about to happen again.

“Can’t wait for him to get here, huh?” Sonya teased next to
me.

“Correction, I can’t wait to wrap my arms around him and
kiss him until we’re both breathless.”

“Did you hear that, Van? She’s about to mark her territory
for all to see.”

“Hardly,” I laughed. “I’m just going to show everyone what I
really think of Brandon Morris.”

Vanessa and Sonya both giggled like a pair of school girls.

Lasher, my number one enemy, was still out there somewhere,
possibly plotting a way to find and destroy me. But as long as he kept a
distance, I could enjoy the good things in life. I knew it was only a matter of
time before he made his presence known to me, but for now he was in hiding.
Hopefully, by the time he showed up, I would be already mastering all my
abilities and could face him without much fear. But there were no guarantees in
life, and if he were to show up now, he would easily defeat me.

Though Nelson assured me that Lasher was not in the area, I
knew that the bastard was aware of me and was very possibly plotting something.
After all the years he spent hunting me down, there was no way he was about to
give up now. Especially considering that he had one huge advantage over me.
Unfortunately, since he was not yet around, I had to sit back and wait for him.

“Well, here’s your chance.” Vanessa pointed to my right.

I followed the direction of her index finger to find a long-haired,
blue-eyed, handsome Enchanter locking the door of his Honda before marching
over toward me. The normally serious Mr. Morris now wore a wide grin on his
face that made me weak in the knees.

“He looks happy to see you, too.”

The second he reached me, I wrapped both arms around his
neck and waited patiently for his lips to claim mine.

“Good morning, Ms. Parker.”

“Good morning, Mr. Morris.”

“Had a good night’s sleep?”

“I did, actually. I had the most pleasant dream about this
amazing Enchanter.”

He beamed. “Sounds pretty interesting.”

“Not as good as the real thing.”

Brandon pulled me close before locking his lips with mine. I
ignored the chorus of gasps and soft murmurs around us and basked instead in
the sweetness of his caress.

After a minute or two, we drew apart and clasped hands as we
started for the building, with my best friends Vanessa and Sonya following
closely behind us.

Even when we entered the building together, happily
displaying to the world our love and for one another, my mind was still
somewhat caught in a tumultuous whirlpool. There were still issues to be
solved. My twin sister, Natalie, for example, had made it clear she was
interested in Brandon and because she had been made to believe that if I never
showed up, he would end up being hers, she was angered by the fact that that
possibility could not come to pass with me around.

I hated to think that I had found a blood relative only to
for us to be separated over our interest in the same guy. Because I knew how
special Brandon was, it was not hard for me to understand her point of view.
She wanted to marry an Enchanter, like her. She had grown up thinking he would
be paired up with her. With me around, the possibility of that happening were
slim at best. This issue with Natalie was the one that worried me the most.

It was safe to say that my problems had begun the morning of
my birthday and would continue as time rolled by.

Though we were bound to face many enemies in the near
future, for now at least, we had nothing to worry about. Brandon and I were together
for the time being, and all of our fears were momentarily laid aside so that we
could enjoy what tranquility we could be afforded.

Hopefully, I could learn how to be the girl I should have
been from the beginning, and hopefully, Brandon would come to see how much I
loved him.

“What are you thinking so hard about?” he asked with a
smile.

“You.”

“What about me?”

“Just that… I love you.”

Beaming, he repeated, “I love you,” before planting one
quick kiss on my lips moments before we entered the classroom together.

About the Author

As a child, I used to lose myself in an imaginary world by
the means of a good book. Now that I’m all grown up, I get to create my own
fictional realms and make them come to life in ways that most readers might not
expect.

I’ve always had a passion for writing but never had the
opportunity do so until now. After trying out numerous options I realized that
writing was what I loved the most so when I found myself with some free time on
my hands, I decided to give it a shot. As it turned out, my very active
imagination helped me achieve my goals of creating believable plots with some
ordinary, and some not so ordinary characters that helped the stories move
along in one way or another.

As I keep moving along in achieving my dreams of becoming a
published author, I divide my time in between my four children and my very
understanding husband.
