“Is someone going to get that phone?” Myra called over their laughter.

Faith hadn’t even heard it ring.

She looked at the clock over the stove. Ten at night. Who would be calling so late?

“Hello?” She answered.

“Faaaiiittthhhh…”

His voice came whistling down the line like a blizzard on a sunny day. She felt chilled to her bones and she dropped the phone in horror.

“What’s the matter?” Josh asked, instantly alert. “What is it?”

Before she could explain what was happening. Before she could warn her family that the darkness was about to descend again just when they thought they could bask in the sun, she heard it.

The doorbell rang.

Elizabeth
wrote her first romance novel at age fifteen when she discovered writing about boys was way easier than actually talking to them. Since then, her flirting skills and relationship techniques have helped hundreds of others find their mojo. After earning a master’s degree in secondary education from UNC, she worked abroad teaching English, bar-tended at late night clubs in Chicago, and continues various philanthropy projects that focus on empowering women.
