“You can call or message anytime, I mean if you need anything?”
“I really need some crunchy peanut butter next time you're near the store, that would be great,” I
said interrupting them.
Jealous much?
Carly spoke to me.
“Am not.” I said out loud to her by accident. Micah looked at me then back at Carly.
“I mean I am not in a rush for the peanut butter but I would like some sooner rather than later.”
Smooth recovery.....s
he said while smiling innocently at him.
“Are they drawn on?” Micah asked referring to the three small freckles Carly had near the edge of
her eye.
“Um no I've always had them, born with them, sort of like a birth mark I guess,” he nodded and
walked towards the door.
“I'm going to head out, got stuff to do.”
He stepped backwards and ended up bumping into the door, he quickly turned fumbled with the
door catch before he finally managed to get it open.
I walked over to the window and watched him as he climbed into his Dodge. He was smacking his
head with hand like he had just done something wrong.
“What just happened?” Carly asked joining me at the window.
“I'm not entirely sure, but I think Micah might like you? Either that or you just stunned him with
your boobs and he forgot how to function.”
He was inside his Dodge when he caught us watching him. I waved at him, I wasn't sure what else I
was meant to do.
I couldn't wait until tonight, I could forgot about what was going on for a few hours, today had
bought up too many questions that I didn't have the answers for.
“So what time's this party? I am in desperate need of alcohol to disinfect my mouth,”
“Seven-ish.”
“Come on we have five hours to kill and make you look super hot, not that it will take much you're
already killer.” Carly said pulling me up the stairs.

Chapter Twenty One

“What number is it again?” she asked looking out the window.
“64 it should be along here somewhere we just passed 58 a minute ago. Look there.” I said pointing
at a load of cars parked on a grass verge.
“That is one big ass house,” Carly said driving past. “Are you sure that's it?”
“Yeah 64 it's there on the brick wall, stop the car and go back. Caitlin said we could park round the
back of the house.”
Carly drove down the long drive, all the trees were covered in fairy lights and streamers, she pulled
up at the side of the guest house.
“Guest house, how many does it sleep, what is this Robbie boy a millionaire or something?”
“His dad travels a lot on business I don't know what he does though?”
Another car pulled up next to Carly's bug. It was Caitlin with Aimee, Caitlin started waving
frantically at us.
“I take it you know them?” Carly said quietly as she opened the door.
“Hi guys. This is my friend Carly,”
“I'm Aimee and that's Caitlin. Do you guys want to drop your bags off, Caitlin has the key to the
guest house already.”
Carly and I followed behind and walked into the guest house and straight into a room with a huge
TV hung on the wall and a couch that went around in a circle.
“So there is four bedrooms in this place which works out just right for us I'd say,” Caitlin said
closing the door.
We all carried our bags up the stairs. Aimee went down the corridor into a bedroom and Caitlin
went into the one opposite her. I looked at Carly and shrugged I didn't mind which room I slept in,
this place was like a palace compared to the cabin and this was only the guest house I wondered
what inside the main house looked like?
Carly went into the room in front so I walked into the room on the left. I switched the light on, the
walls were white, which matched the bedspread. The bed was a four poster with pale blue drapes
that matched the carpet and curtains at the balcony door.
I dumped my bag on the floor and unlocked the balcony door.
Outside the sky was dark and cloudy, the air felt icy cold, it was going to be a cold night tonight. I
could hear laughing and loud music coming from the main house.
“You ready? They're going over to the party now,” Carly called.
“Just coming,” I caught a glimpse of myself in the glass door. I looked taller cause I had my black
wedge trainers on, matched with skinny black jeans and a black vest. Carly had put some braids into
the side of my head to keep my hair off my face, she was right my appearance had definitely
changed.
Caitlin locked the front door and put the key in her pocket.
“If anyone needs to get back into the guest house you will have to come and find me cause I have
the only key.”
We walked across the shingles back around to the front of the house.
“Do you think he's here already?” Aimee asked Caitlin.
“Who?” I asked wondering who she was talking about.
“Some college student in Heaven's Point set up a dating website for teenagers as a bit of fun and
Aimee being Aimee went on and has apparently met the guy of her dreams on there.” Caitlin said.
“Yep and he's meant to be here tonight,” Aimee added.
“And you've never met him before?” Carly asked.
“Nope all I know is his online name and that he will be wearing a black tie tonight.”
“Ruby ask Aimee what his name is?” Caitlin said winking at me. I wondered what I was missing.
“His name is Rich Randy Roberto, we've been casually chatting for months and now I get to meet
him face to face and take it to next level.” Aimee said adjusting her bra under her top.
Now it made sense why Caitlin was in such hysterics when Robbie's was telling her about his party
and that he was finally going to meet his online girlfriend. Aimee and Robbie had been chatting to
each other all this time and had no idea they already knew and disliked each other.
Aimee strutted in front and pressed the doorbell.
“She has no idea?” I asked Caitlin quietly.
“None whatsoever, I should really get Josh to video this moment so they can cherish it forever.”
“And you knew all this time, you sneak,” I said.
“Huh?” Carly asked wondering what we were talking about.
“I'll explain later.”

“Well hello there,” Robbie opened the front door and leaned against the door frame. He was
wearing a white shirt with the top half unbuttoned and black tie loosely hanging round the collar. I
wondered how long it was going to take before Aimee figured it out.
“So as always there is an admission fee, bras in the box girls,” Robbie said flashing his cheesy grin.
Aimee rolled her eyes and shook her head like she was bored already.
“Don’t worry it's a silly prank he does to see how many willing victims he can get.” Caitlin said.
“And at the end of the party he doesn’t let anyone have them back, he just keeps them in his room, I
still want my purple leopard print back you perv!” Aimee said louder than necessary.
Robbie stood there smiling, I think he was enjoying it.
“Move,” Aimee said trying to push past but he blocked her.
“Move you little creep or I'll break your bony little neck.”
He smiled at her and quickly leaned in and kissed her on the lips.
She made a disgusted sound and shoved him out the way.
“You look like an idiot in that tie,” Aimee said not looking back.
“It's for my lady friend, so she can find me.” Robbie said smoothing it down.
Aimee had already walked off down the hallway.
“Come in girls, welcome welcome and new girl welcome,” Robbie said to Carly.
I noticed a box on the table with a bra hanging over the side and realised they weren't joking about
the bra in the box thing.
The place looked ridiculously big. There was two staircases winding round each side of the wall in
a circlular shape to meet in the middle at the top, even the entrance I was standing in could have
easily been as big as the whole of the downstairs cabin put together. Robbie turned and stood in
front of us.
“Okay so seriously girls, the only things I need to mention are, if you're going to party take it
outside, my mom will freak if she smells that stuff in here,”
He was talking about drugs, I wasn’t that kind of girl and I was sure Carly and Caitlin wouldn’t
touch drugs, Aimee on the other I hand I wasn’t so sure about she was a loose cannon.
“Also if you're planning on getting highly intoxicated please refrain from using the pool, the last
thing I want to do tonight is fish a dead girl from it and just one more thing no number twos in the
flower pots this year, mom was kind of traumatised after last year.”
The doorbell went again and Robbie stepped around us to answer it.
I turned and saw Caitlin giggling.
“Last year a few of the boys thought it would be funny to see how many flower pots they
could.....well you get the picture it was pretty gross.”
“That is totally gross!” Carly said.
We walked along the hallway, there we're people everywhere, each room was crowded with faces I
didn't recognise.
“How many people did Robbie invite?” I asked Caitlin.
“He put flyers up at Copeland College hoping all the college girls would turn up.”
Caitlin turned off the hallway and into a long room which had windows running the length of it.
Outside there was a long pool with teenagers jumping in and out playing with an inflatable ball.
The long room we we're in had couches all pushed together in a line running the length of the room
and further down there was a large table stocked with bottles and cans of alcoholic and soft drinks.
Even under the table was crammed with boxes of drink.
“Does Robbie's parent's know about all this?” I asked Caitlin.
“Who do you think funds all this, his dad is a major business man that works abroad and his mom
goes everywhere with him, topping up her tan on the beach. Robbie usually gets whatever Robbie
wants I suppose they think this makes up for them not being here. But his parties are pretty
awesome. You can help yourself to whatever you want, I'm going to see if I can find Josh.”
“This is crazy look at all the free booze. I am so jealous of your new friends I can't believe this is
your life now,” Carly said chucking her jacket onto a couch that was so piled up with other peoples
coats and jackets you could no longer see the couch underneath.
“Well it might not be for much longer, Seth might still be sending me back home.”
“Oh yeah because there's someone planning to kidnap you or hurt you according to Micah's visions
of the future or whatever you want to call them. So it's easy we'll just figure out who it is and send
Micah round to sort them out.”
“Yes and I don't even want to know what 'sort them out' would mean to Micah, probably something
involving a shovel.”
“So because you went following Mack to the fight club someone might have seen you while you
were there and want to kidnap you, have I got that right?”
“Yes, my guess is it's that crazy nut job Cole he wanted to know way to much information about
me.”
“But you lied to Micah and said you weren't there, so at the minute Micah thinks you're semi safe
according to his vision, but instead you actually did go and might be in immediate grave danger of
being kidnapped. Don't you think you should have really told Micah the truth? What if you really
are in danger?”
“No, he would have packed my stuff for me and driven me out of town that same night. I don't want
to leave, I like it here. Anyway I think Micah's hiding something else I still don't know who lives in
that trailer but I think Micah was on his way to see them.”
“So to keep you safe we need to figure out who it is that's planning to kidnap you and avoid them.
So we need to keep our eyes peeled for anyone suspicious, I got it I can do that.” Carly said popping
the lid of a pink alcoholic bottle.
“What it's free, I'm not turning down free drink anyway I'm not driving tonight and my bed is about
fifty steps that way, I can even see the guest house from here,” she said pointing at the window.
“Fine but don't expect me to carry you when you can't walk anymore.”
“No problem, maybe I can ask the boy outside who hasn't stopped staring over this way since we
walked in the room.”
I quickly looked outside and saw Mack sitting on a sun lounger with a group of people, he was
looking this way but he quickly diverted his eyes when I looked at him.
“That's Mack,” I said, my heart felt as though it skipped a beat when he looked at me.
“Shut up! No wonder you can't stop talking or thinking about him, I think I'd have a hard time
forgetting him, he is something else. Meooow!”
Mack was wearing a plain white T-shirt, black skinny jeans with his green high tops. He was
playing some game with a few boys, tossing coins into a cup on the floor.
“Come on let's go outside and see if he comes over,”
“He won't, he hates me and is currently ignoring me.”
“Then why does he keep looking at you,”
I sat on a small brick wall on the other side of the pool looking down at the can of fizzy soda Carly
had opened for me.
Carly was talking to some college boy behind me.. A tall guy walked through the glass doors
carrying a girl in his arms, he set her down on the floor. She was wearing a cheerleading outfit
carrying pom poms, I recognised her from English class. It was Millie this was the first time I had
seen her since the falling light accident she looked fine now sipping on a straw in a beer bottle.
She went over to the sun lounger and wedged herself in between Mack and another boy.
“Scowling doesn't suit you,” Aimee said from beside me.
“I wasn't, I don't know what you're talking about?”
“That should be you wedging yourself in over there like a cheese sandwich, you are tons better
looking than that floozy,”
“It's fine she can sit next to who she wants.”
“Okay but I guess you're imagining clawing her eyes out right now aren't you?” she asked smiling.
“Maybe?” I replied watching Millie drape her arm over Mack's shoulders.
“Give me that,” Aimee took the can of fizzy from me and poured it into her empty cup.
“Watch this,” Aimee said.
She walked around to the other side of the pool and stood behind Millie. She then poured the drink
down Millie's back. Millie jumped up screaming and started shouting at Aimee.
“Stupid idiot, I'm soaked.” Millie said squeezing the drink from her hair.
Aimee shrugged and was pointing at the boy next to her pretending he had bumped her.
The tall boy that had carried Millie outside swept her up into his arms and carried her away, I
thought he was going to carry her back into the house but without warning he dumped her in the
pool.
Everyone cheered and more people jumped in fully clothed. Millie was in the middle of the pool
screaming with mascara running down her face.
“What the hell Ryan,” Millie shouted at the tall boy.
“What you said it yourself you were already soaked,” he laughed. “Cannon ball.” he shouted and
jumped into the pool splashing Millie even more.
I looked over at Aimee who was giving me the thumbs up.
Mack was messing around with some boy I didn't recognise they were both pushing and shoving
each other then they both pulled each other into the pool.
I quickly walked inside, I didn't want to get dragged into he pool as well. I watched from inside the
house. Mack swam to the edge of the pool and lifted himself out.
I moved away from the door and behind the blinds, I didn't want him to know I was watching him.
He walked in squelching, dripping water everywhere.
“Hey dude, towels are in the kitchen and there's some spare shirts,” Robbie said passing him in the
door way.
Mack walked across the room and pulled his shirt over his head and had his back on display as he
walked through the door.
His perfect back was marked with two long dark scars running down it, they got closer together
lower down. Then he was gone, I looked around to see if anyone else had noticed the scars but
everyone was busy doing something else.
“I can see why you've fallen for him. He's probably the hottest guy at this party when his shirts off
minus the scary scars though,” Carly said sipping on her bottle.
“What did you say?”
“Really I don't think it needs repeating, you did just see him with his shirt off?”
“No about the fallen thing,”
“Huh? You've lost me. Say again?”
“Fallen angels would have wings scars, they looked the the same as the ones I saw on Micah's back.
Carly they both have the same scars.”
“Fallen angels really, what are drinking? I think I need some, you know how crazy that sounds?”
she said smirking at me.
“Really this coming from someone that thinks there's vampires roaming around,”
“Okay so say Mack and Micah are fallen angels and your brother's a Nephilim then wouldn't that
make you a Nephilim as well,”
“I don't know, maybe. I need a drink, a proper one.”
“Bottoms up.” she said handing me her bottle to finish.
Carly was keeping herself amused with the same college boy, Caitlin had disappeared with Josh and
I had lost track of Aimee.
I had drunk seven bottles of some alcoholic green drink from the table, I wondered if they even had
any alcohol in them as they weren't having any effect on me.
I looked over at Carly she was poking the boy in the face, she looked wobbly and she'd had less to
drink than me. I was getting bored and miserable, parties were meant to be fun but I couldn't bring
myself to join in with any of the games and there was no way I was stripping off to jump in the pool
even if it was heated.
I wondered around the gardens, there were lights hidden amongst the bushes and the further I got
from the house the lonelier I felt. At least it was quieter over here, my head was full of everyone
else's thoughts back there but all I could hear now was the sound of my own footsteps.
I walked into a section of garden with tall hedges on both sides with small footpaths running
between them it sort of looked like a maze. Something fluttered above my head I looked up and saw
the raven, it landed on a garden ornament of a cherub.
“Well Rocky, can I call you Rocky I think it suits you and I have this weird hunch it might actually
be your name. You're probably wondering what I'm doing all the way over here when the parties
back there, I'm not even sure myself,” I quietly laughed at myself for talking to the bird it's not like
it understood me.
I wanted to know why it kept following me?
“You named it?”
“What the....you frightened me,” I said turning around.
“I told you to leave that thing alone. So what is this you giving him advice on how to be sad and
pathetic. What are you doing over here, the parties that way,” Micah said leaning against a tree.
“What are you doing here? How did you know I was here?”
“I over heard the word party when you were talking to Carly. So I followed you, seeing as you like
to tell me one thing and then do the opposite. You didn't tell me Caitlin had invited so many people
to her sleepover....wait that's because it's a party and Caitlin doesn't even live here.”
“You wouldn't have let me come if I'd told you. You don't have to rub it in I get that I'm in trouble
and you're probably going to really enjoy dragging me out of here, let me just grab my stuff first,” I
said taking a step but he put his hand up.
“Wait! I am annoyed with you that you can't follow simple instructions to let me know where you
are and what you're doing? But I will let you stay if you try to keep out of trouble.”
“What, why?”
“Because you might have to leave next week so this will probably be your last party with your
friends.”
“Grrrr! Don't remind me. I'm don't want to leave, it's not fair. You can't make me,”
“Well it's not up to me, if your brother wants you to go back you won't have a choice. So do you
girls need a ride home later or are you planning on sleeping on the sun loungers?”
“No we're sleeping in the guest house we all have our own room.” I said pointing at the building.
“That's a guest house? I thought that was next door. So erm where's Carly?”
“I dunno she's with some boy over there?”
“What boy?” he asked sounding both annoyed and interested.
“I dunno he's some college boy, wait a minute you're jealous, that's what this is. I thought you were
acting weird back at the cabin. You like Carly,”
“Don't be stupid I don't even know her?”
“Then it shouldn't bother you when I tell you I saw her heading back to the guest house fifteen
minutes ago with that frat boy.”
His face dropped and changed from annoyed to super mad in seconds.
“Micah it was joke,”
“Well that wasn't funny, your sense of humour sucks.”
“No you suck now go find her she's in the kitchen making margarita's. Why don't you go and talk to
her instead of watching me from the bushes cause it's a little weird and stalker-ish.”
“Fine, but I'm still annoyed with you for lying to me. We will finish this conversation tomorrow,” he
said smoothing the side of his hair down.
