Chapter 6

It didn
’t take long before they were pulling into the driveway in front of a small, white house on a corner lot. “This is where you live?” Dillon asked, sort of confused. “Don’t most young guys live in apartments with roommates?”

“Yeah, but I’m not like most guys, Dillon.” Adam playfully knocked his shoulder into Dillon’s, and it made him grin like a lunatic.

Dillon walked up to the door and waited while Adam unlocked it and led him inside. “You want the grand tour?” he asked teasingly.

Dillon slipped his shoes off and left them next to the door. “Yeah. That’d be cool.”

He pointed through the door to their right. “That’s the living room.” It was simply decorated with black furniture, wood coffee and end tables, and a rather large flat screen television mounted on the wall above a small fireplace. There were a few framed pieces of art on the walls that Dillon assumed Adam had drawn. He made a mental note to get a closer look at them later.

Then Adam led him through the door on the left. “Dining room.” It was small, with wood floors and just enough room for the table. There was an ‘L’ shaped counter island that separated the kitchen space with black countertops that were flecked with red accents. The kitchen was streamlined with stainless steel appliances, plus a coffee pot and toaster on the counter next to the fridge. The dark wood cupboards and cabinets were accented with red metal handles. It was definitely becoming apparent to Dillon that Adam’s favorite colors were black and red.

“This is gorgeous,” Dillon commented as he skimmed his fingers along the countertop. Adam led him toward some vertical blinds that, when he pulled them back, revealed a sliding glass door leading out into a decent sized fenced in yard. “I gotta let Parker in,” he explained. “I hadn’t planned on being gone so long without coming home, so I left him outside.” He opened the back door, and Parker started barking instantly. He was clearly excited to see Adam, who swiftly walked over and unhooked his chain, then bent down to give Parker the attention he was demanding. Parker repeatedly leapt with excitement, licking Adam’s face. “Aww, hi, Parky!” Adam cooed as he scratched Parker all over. “Did you miss Daddy? Were you a good boy today?” It was such a sweet thing to witness.

Adam stood up. “Inside,” he commanded, and Parker took off toward the door. When he saw Dillon, he dashed toward him and jumped up, planting his front paws on Dillon’s knees. He looked up expectantly, panting as he waited for Dillon to acknowledge him. “Hi, Parker.” Dillon stooped down and scratched his head with both hands. Parker gave a little happy doggy sigh and lay on his back in the middle of the kitchen floor, exposing his belly and silently begging for tummy rubs. Who could ignore such an adorable plea? Dillon complied.

Adam walked through the door and his heart warmed at the sight in front of him. “You’re his new best friend now, you know that? He loves belly rubs.” He walked over to a drawer and pulled out some menus. “What do you feel like for dinner?” he asked Dillon. “We can order pizza or Chinese for delivery, or there’s this great little Mexican place up the street that I can run and get food from. They have amazing enchiladas.”

“Um, whatever you want is fine with me. I’m not picky.” Dillon continued to pay attention to Parker who was soaking up the attention like a fuzzy brown sponge.

“Okay, cool.” Adam pulled his phone out of his pocket and called something in, but Dillon couldn’t hear what it was. Not that it really mattered. “We’ve got about thirty minutes. Let me show you the rest of the house.”

They went back through the dining room and down the hallway. “Bathroom is the first door on the right and the spare bedroom is the second door. There’s a linen closet on the left and the master bedroom is there.” He pointed at the door directly in front of them at the end of the hallway.

“Your house is really nice,” Dillon was telling him when Parker came trotting down the hallway and stopped at his feet again, distracting them both. “Hey, boy,” Dillon greeted him with a pat on the head.

“Parker, will you go lie down and leave Dillon alone?” Adam reprimanded.

“He’s just fine,” Dillon informed him and bent down to continue petting Parker. Adam stood there and watched the scene in front of him with a look on his face that Dillon couldn’t identify. “Want to go in the living room and watch television?”

“Sure.” They headed back down the hall with Parker on their heels. Dillon pulled his hoodie off and asked Adam where he wanted him to put it, so Adam took it and disappeared from the room for a moment. Dillon sat on the couch and Parker jumped up immediately, laying down right next to him with his head across Dillon’s lap. Was it crazy that Dillon was feeling an attachment to the dog after ten minutes?
Probably.
Parker seemed to have latched on to him as well though, and Dillon was perfectly okay with that.

“Oh, Parker, you little devil,” Adam tutted when he got back in the room. “If he’s bothering you, I can put him in my room for a while.”

“No, really, he’s fine,” Dillon assured Adam. “I never got to have a dog growing up so I’m probably enjoying it more than he is.” Dillon rested his hand on Parker’s back and scratched him lightly. Adam sat next to them on the couch and flipped the television on. While they waited for the food to arrive, they began talking some more about music which segued into movies and television shows and eventually into actors who were actually good and those that were just eye candy.

Dillon was eventually surprised to feel Adam’s fingers against his own as he started to pet his dog too. Every time they brushed Dillon’s fingers, he felt a tingling sensation race through his veins from head-to-toe. It began to happen more often as Adam made his way up and down Parker’s back until he finally stopped trying to be covert about it and just covered the top of Dillon’s hand with his, sliding his fingers into the open spaces. Dillon’s heart was pounding, and his stomach was in knots, and that was just from Adam holding his hand. The thought of anything else happening between them threatened to bring his cock to life.

Dillon did have much experience when it came to anything sexual, and that was something that he was kind of ashamed about. As a matter of fact, the only times he’d ever gotten off with another person were with the same boy outside of his high school behind the football field concession stand. They had never talked about it before or after it happened, and the boy never tried to kiss Dillon, which was good because Dillon really didn’t want him to. They’d gotten each other off roughly without taking any clothes off, and that was that. It was a mutually beneficial thing, but there were never any feelings involved. That was before Dillon quit school to work full time so he could make sure he had enough money. His parents never knew he quit, nor did he think they would have cared.

The doorbell rang, jolting Dillon out of his thoughts, and he about jumped out of his skin. Parker’s head shot up and he leapt off the couch, barking, and dashed to the door. Adam smiled warmly at Dillon and squeezed his fingers once more before letting go. “I’d better go get that before the poor delivery guy gets traumatized by my scary doggy.” Adam chuckled as he headed toward the door.

A few minutes later, Adam returned to the living room carrying a pizza box, plates, and two cans of pop. “I hope this is okay.” He handed Dillon a plate and one of the cans. “I can’t let you drink beer.”

“It’s great,” Dillon assured him. “I won’t drink even if I’m allowed to.” Yeah, there was no way he was ever going to allow himself to end up like his parents, and, apparently, addiction was something that ran in his blood.

Dillon could almost see the pity boiling up inside of Adam. “Thanks for the pizza.” He took a huge bite, hoping Adam would do the same and drop it. Luckily for Dillon, Adam followed his lead on that.

“Where’s Parker?” Dillon mumbled around a mouth full of pizza after realizing his little buddy wasn’t back in the room yet.

“I put his beggar ass outside until we finish eating, so we don’t have to listen to him whine.”

Dillon finished off his first piece in just a few bites and was promptly onto his second. He was starving and not used to being able to eat as much as he wanted of anything. Actually, it was rare that he ever got to eat three meals in one day.

“Do you want to watch a movie?” Adam questioned, reaching for his second piece.

“Sure.” Dillon seemed to be getting comfortable because he didn’t even feel guilty for reaching into the box and taking a third piece of pizza, which made Adam grin. It was a small victory but he would take what he could get.

Adam gave him the options. “Horror, comedy, or action?”

“Surprise me…”

He clicked a few buttons on his remote, and, without having to move from the couch, a movie started on his television. “How did you do that?” Dillon asked, completely amazed.

Adam laughed genuinely at the question and raised his eyebrow at Dillon, wondering if he was being for real. “It’s a smart television. I have it hooked up to my Netflix through wi-fi, so I can watch movies whenever I want without getting up. It’s a great enabler for my laziness.”

“Wow… I had no idea you could do that.” Dillon was stumped. He figured that sort of cool technology was the kind of thing you missed out on when you were just trying to make it day-by-day.

Adam felt a pang of guilt ring through his chest at the thought of Dillon being so surprised by something that simple. “You’re so cute.” Adam just kind of blurted it out, then looked a bit shell-shocked that he’d said it. Dillon couldn’t help but smile in response. “Thanks. I guess I’m a little behind on the times.” Dillon lifted his pop can to his mouth and drained the rest in one gulp.

“Are you finished eating, or do you want another piece?” Adam asked as he shifted to get up off the couch.

“I’m good. Thanks for dinner; it was great.” Dillon leaned back into the couch and pulled his legs up underneath of him, getting more comfortable.

Adam picked up the box and dirty plates, then walked toward the kitchen. “Do you want another drink when I come back?”

“Sure.”

Dillon heard him rummage around in the kitchen and then within moments, Parker came blazing into the room and jumped back up on his lap. “Hey, Parker,” Dillon cooed at him as he used both hands to scratch behind his ears. Parker licked Dillon’s chin, which made him laugh.

Adam grinned in amusement when he returned. “I think he likes you more than he likes me now.”

It’s nice to have someone excited to see me.
Dillon would admit that to himself, but he wasn’t about to say that out loud and make himself look like a total loser. “It’s just the novelty of someone new. It’ll wear off soon, and he’ll be back to being daddy’s boy.”

Adam scoffed playfully as he sat down next to Dillon, closer than he’d been before. So close, in fact, that Dillon could feel his body heat against him. “He just doesn’t love me anymore… do ya Parky?” Parker trotted off Dillon’s lap and yipped at Adam, then licked his face several times. Adam giggled gleefully. “Okay, buddy! I’m sorry! I get it; you do love me!”

Dillon couldn’t help but laugh because it was such a cute interaction. Parker must’ve felt like he got his point across, so he casually came back to Dillon and draped himself across his lap, belly up. Dillon was getting good at recognizing the little dog’s cues. He started scratching.

Adam reached over and turned the lamp off so that they were sitting in darkness while they watched the movie. He boldly laced his fingers through Dillon’s again. Dillon gazed at their intertwined fingers and decided he was getting used to the heart racing that came along with Adam touching him. He was positive that he looked like an idiot with such a huge smile on his face, but he didn’t want Adam to let go.

Dillon wasn’t sure exactly what time it was, but he knew it was getting late. He was exhausted, and felt his eyelids growing heavy about halfway through the movie. He kept trying to keep them open so that Adam wouldn’t have to take him back to the motel quite so soon, but eventually he failed miserably and the world went dark.

Adam noticed that Dillon’s free hand had slowed and eventually stopped moving on Parker’s stomach, and his head had dropped to the arm of the couch. He was sleeping and it was so fucking cute, but he looked so much younger than his eighteen years when he wasn’t conscious, that it made Adam feel like a creeper as he watched him.
