Maggie took her index finger and traced each crevice.

“You wet yet?” Jon asked.

“Just a little, nothing like you made me, though.”

“Just visualise my hand going to work down there, my mouth and tongue savouring you.”

That image was all it took for the first juices to begin pumping from her. She took some on her finger and used it to glide her finger over her folds.

“Maggie, put your finger inside your pussy and imagine it’s my cock.”

She parted her legs to give herself more access and slid not one but two fingers inside her. She closed her eyes and imagined Jon filling her again.

“Start rubbing your cock and I’ll pump my pussy.”

The sound of Jon’s groans on the other end of the phone combined with her fingers sliding in and out of her pussy was driving Maggie mad. Who would have believed that this could be such an erotic experience?

Maggie felt her climax building and held the phone close to her mouth as she cried out Jon’s name and shook, her toes turning upwards, a rush of euphoria sweeping over her.

She rolled over on to her side and listened to Jon’s laboured breathing and then heard him crying out her name as he too climaxed.

“Maggie, you still there?” He sounded almost hoarse now.

“Oh yeah, I’m here.”

“So what do think?”

“I’d rather have you here and inside me but it was pretty good.”

“For two virgins. Best thing is you don’t need condoms.”

Maggie laughed and rolled on to her back again.

“Although I have some cleaning up to do. Looks like I’ll be jumping in the shower soon,” Jon said.

“Don’t tease me. I can just imagine you in your shower washing your cock.”

“Hey, you want to make a shower date for our next phone sex liaison?”

“You think our phones will be okay in the water?” Maggie asked.

“Guess we’ll find out.”

“Hey, you should be going. I just realised it’s one in the morning your time.”

“Yeah, don’t want to be late for the clinic tomorrow.”

“Until next time then.”

Maggie laughed as she heard Jon make a kissing sound before he put the phone down.

Jon woke up the next day sensing he was coming down with the bug that was going around town. His head and body ached, and his throat felt like he’d swallowed hot knives during the night. Still, they were short staffed at the clinic so taking the day off wasn’t an option. Maybe he’d finish early and go to bed as soon as he got home and hopefully sleep this thing off.

Catching this bug was partially his own fault. He’d spent several nights wide awake talking to Maggie and, after he’d said goodbye to her, had found it hard to get to sleep. The truth was he was stressed out with the problem between Maggie and his mom. As a doctor he knew there was nothing more fatal to your immune system than stress.

Now if he could just keep his eyes open and take something to keep him going until noon, he’d be fine.

Maggie spread out all the swatches and samples for her client. This was going to be a lucrative deal if she could nail the presentation. Overhauling the hotel her prospective client had just purchased was a big job. When she’d driven up to its entrance she’d been struck by the natural beauty of the hotel’s setting, one of the most beautiful in the area. Most rooms and the restaurant overlooked a pristine lake. Furnishing this grand a place was going to be more pleasure than work, although she wouldn’t let the client know that little secret.

The door opened to reveal a woman in her mid-fifties wearing a grey business suit, her dark hair piled up in a chignon. “Nina Beaumont,” she said, holding out her hand.

“Maggie Rogers,” she said, taking it.

“You come highly recommended, so I’m looking forward to seeing what ideas you have.”

Maggie began her presentation, illustrating how she’d change the décor and give the place a more open feel to reflect its natural surroundings.

“I like these colours and the textures are very nice too. You have a very good eye and feel for these things.”

The compliment brought back memories of interning with Julie. That’s the first thing she’d told the young Maggie when she’d worked on her first redesign.

The two of them had such a long friendship and history together… She hoped Jon would see a way to patch things up with Julie. Maybe she’d never forgive Maggie for having sex with her son, but perhaps as a woman she’d understand how Maggie felt about him.

She looked down at her feet. Today she’d worn the shoes Jon had bought for her in Inca. The same ones she’d worn when she’d dressed up in the garters and stockings and…

“Ms Rogers.”

“What?” Shit, she’d snapped at the client. She was in a dream-like trance thinking about Jon and had begrudged being disturbed.

“I asked if you could put all your ideas and suggestions into a written presentation so I can show my business partner.”

“Yes, that shouldn’t be a problem at all.”

“Perfect. If you could let us have it by the end of the week that would be great. We’ll be making our final decision on Monday.”

Maggie gathered her samples and stood.

“Let me show you out.”

Maggie followed Nina, still thinking of Jon. It was her turn to call him for their next session of phone sex. She couldn’t wait.

Jon felt like shit. The clinic had sent him home just after lunch. He had no idea how he’d got back to his apartment, but had gone straight to bed, his body feeling like someone had beaten him with a baseball bat studded with needles.

He took two tablets and dozed off only to be awakened by the phone ringing. “Hello.” He’d barely managed to get the word out of his mouth.

“Jon, is something wrong?” It was Maggie.

He’d forgotten she’d be calling him tonight for their shower date. “I have the bug that’s going around here. You went home just in time because I think the whole of Alcudia has it now.”

“You sound awful.”

“That figures, because I feel shitty too.”

“I’m sorry to hear that. If I was there I’d make you some homemade soup.”

“Yeah, I forgot to ask if you can cook.”

“If I say I can’t, does that change things between us?” Maggie laughed.

“Nope, it would just mean we’d eat out a lot.” He sneezed and then coughed. His ribs and chest were already hurting from all the coughing he’d done since he’d got home.

“Don’t worry, because I love to cook and I’m told I’m pretty good at it. I mean, I haven’t killed anyone yet.”

“Um, good in bed and in the kitchen. Deadly combination. What guy could resist that?”

“Anything I can do for you?”

She shouldn’t have said that. The question sent all kinds of ideas spinning in his head.

“Other than fly to Mallorca and get in bed beside me.”

“You’re making me feel bad.”

“Sorry, didn’t mean to.” He coughed again and held his ribs this time.

“I guess our phone sex is on hold,” Maggie said.

“Yes, don’t think I could manage even getting out of bed right now. Even my cock and balls hurt me.”

“Ouch, sounds nasty, whatever you’ve got. Well then, I should let you get some rest so you can get better.”

“Yeah, I’ll make it up to you next time. Double time in the shower, okay?”

“Take care, sweet dreams.”

“Yeah, love you, Maggie.”

He’d barely said goodbye when the tablets he’d taken kicked in. He fell asleep with the phone nestled under his head on the pillow.

Maggie wondered if she’d caught the same bug from Mallorca before she’d left there because while she was in her office she felt boiling hot all of a sudden. Because the hot flash quickly passed, she figured it was probably her age. She hated this whole menopause thing. The tiredness—yeah, she hated to admit it—the weight gain, the sleeplessness… Then again, maybe that could be put down to being infatuated with a young guy.

“You okay, Maggie?”

She jumped and held her chest, thinking her heart would bounce right out of it. She’d been miles away and hadn’t heard her assistant walk into the office.

“I saw you wiping your brow,” she told Maggie.

“Hot flashes.”

“You do know you don’t have to suffer through them any more, don’t you?”

Maggie nodded. “I’m thinking of making an appointment and asking the doctor for some hormone treatments. He did mention it when I went there about my…” Maggie wasn’t one to discuss her sex life with strangers but Sally was older than her, was married and had probably gone through the same thing during her own menopause. “With my dryness you know where.”

“The hormones can really help with that problem as well,” Sally said. “In fact, they take sex to a whole new level.”

Maybe she should think about seeing the doctor and getting the hormones into her system before Jon’s visit.

“Men are really lucky, aren’t they?” Sally asked “They skip periods, cramps, pregnancy, and childbirth, to say nothing of hot flashes.”

“Haven’t you ever heard of male menopause?” Maggie asked.

Jon felt like a new man a few days later. His throat was still a bit sore but at least his body didn’t ache any more. He’d finished his first full day back at the clinic.

He looked at the calendar on his desk. He’d already booked his flight to New York for December eighteenth. He’d spend a couple of days in New York visiting with his aunt and then fly up to Portland to spend two weeks in Maine. During his time there, he’d set up some interviews with one or two hospitals in the area and hopefully he’d land a job. Once he had a definite offer, he’d come back, give notice at the clinic and try living and working in Maine.

He could only think of one obstacle—his mother. Not that she could do anything, but he’d rather have her approval and support. She probably wouldn’t bat an eyelid about him practising medicine in the US, but the fact that he would be doing it on Maggie’s doorstep would probably piss Mom off big time. He wished she’d get it through her head that in no way was Maggie enticing him into a relationship with her. It was all his own doing, not hers.

Maggie… He owed her a call.

“Hello.”

“Guess who this is?”

“You sound a whole lot better.”

“I am and I even booked my flight to New York. I should be seeing you around December twentieth.”

“You planning on staying with me?”

“You want me to?” he asked.

“Yes, it’s just I haven’t told my daughters about you… I mean about us yet.”

“You scared of what they’ll think?”

“I’m not sure. They’re very open-minded but I just want to be sure there’s a future for us before I tell them about you.”
