“Hey, shit head what do you want?”
After dismounting from my bike, I un-holstered the pistol, which was strapped under my sleeve.
“Shut the fuck up.”
The biker takes one look at my gun, and steps back. His eyes wide as he frantically searched for his own weapon. Obviously the bikers are not expecting anyone this far into the woods, and they have become lazy.
As the passed out figures remain where they are laid, it is apparent that the Harley and our voices are not disturbing them. With due diligence, I approach the bodies, the first one holds no interest to me. However, the second one is the one I am looking for.
With a kick to the waking body, I drag Tats up to his full height. The biker may be slightly taller than me, this, however, does not prevent me from throwing a punch into his stomach.
“Wake up you filthy animal.”
As Tats groans, I throw another punch into his stomach. The second punch, must have woken the biker. For the next thing I know, someone has thumped me, on the side of my head. As I recover from the punch, I step back. For my next punch, I pull on all of my resources, from my training. The anger, which is surging through my body since I discovered the attack on Ellie, helps to power my follow up punch. After sending my fist flying into Tats’ gut, I follow up with a kick to the groin.
Tats retaliation came quickly, and it was not long before we were rolling on the ground. As soon as I have Tats’ lying flat, I mount his body, and lift him by his cut, only to thrust him on the ground again. Which is then swiftly follow through, with a punch to his head. As each thump makes contact with Tats, he would throw one back at me.
It was not until I hear the sound of a gunshot that I stop hitting the biker. With blurred vision, I look over into the direction of the shot, and found myself staring into the eyes my president.
“That’s enough Fudge. Leave him before you kill him.”
As I rise from the slumped figure, I give into the compulsion to hurt the man beneath me, once more. With a slight stagger, as I attempt to straighten myself, I kick the giant as he lay on the ground. His face is no longer recognizable. His gaze unfocused amongst the swelling.
Fuck, if he looked like that, how did I look? Unable to straighten, I continued to stagger slightly as I made my way over to Inferno and my brothers.
With one last disgusted look at Tats.
“Keep your whore of a sister away from Ellie, and away from Comfort Springs.”
Once I was up close to Inferno, I used my hand to swipe the blood away from my mouth, before I spoke.
“What the fuck are you doing here?”
“Preventing you from committing murder. We’ve already got one man in prison. We don’t need another to join him.”
“I wasn’t going to kill the bastard.”
“Maybe, maybe not… Come on boys, let’s get out of here.”
Chapter 21
Ivy had said very little on the journey home. Occasionally I would feel her gaze on me, which I chose to ignore, opting to look out of the window instead. Unable to fathom out what game the skank was playing. I decided that if she wanted a fight, I was going to give her one. Just yesterday, I had resolved to keep Nick, and I was not giving way to allow some two bit whore win this game.
“Is everything okay?”
“Yeah. Look, Ivy, you don’t have to stay. I’ll be fine.”
“Hey we’re having a girl’s night. The others are coming over, along with Angel.”
“Sounds like fun.”
“It will be. Cassie’s bringing food, and Rayven’s bringing the drink.”
“Has she been raiding Tabby’s stock again?”
“Who knows, and who cares.”
When we pull into the driveway, I immediately spot Sundance’s Harley. As soon we have the car park, he dismounts and saunters over to us.
“Hi ladies.”
“Sundance.”
“Are you coming in? Or do you plan to look pretty for the neighbors?”
“You think I’m pretty Ivy.”
“Ha, ha, boys aren’t pretty.”
Amelia’s sweet voice, draws my gaze down to a pair of mischievous brown eyes. Following closely behind her, is Toby and Baby Blu, who had volunteered to collect them from Eliza’s. Her smile, missing from her eyes.
“Did you have problems with Eliza?”
“No. What about you. Are you okay?”
“I will be, once I get a drink.”
“Hey, why don’t you ladies go out back, and I’ll watch the kids.”
As appealing, as Sundance’s offer is, it leaves me feeling guilty that we are keeping him away from the club.
“You’re not here to babysit, Sundance. I can take care of Toby and Amelia.”
Sundance did his usual saunter across the yard. His arm looping around my neck, as we all walked into the house.
“That’s where you’re wrong, Ellie. I’m here to ensure that nothing goes amiss with your evening. And if it means watching the kids, while you unwind. Well, that is just what I’ll do.”
“Sundance.”
“No argument woman. Now give me peace, and do what it is, you women do.”
As I watch Sundance, and the children go upstairs, I reach for my cell, and ring Nick. Everyone was being over the top. Damn, it was a bag of shit in the car. When the call went unanswered, I do not bother to leave a message. A quick glance round the hall, and I discover I have been deserted. With a shrug and a sigh, I concede, that I have lost this round and go in search of the two women. When I do find them, it is to discover, that they have made their way to the garden, and are sitting by the pool. With the pro-offered glass of wine, which Ivy has handed over, I sat in the spare garden chair and listened as Ivy, and Baby Blu talked about their day.
As they chat, I close my eyes, and enjoy the warmth of the sun on my face. An image of Nick comes to surface. A day which had started on a high note, had soon turned to dust. There had been the episode at the picnic area. Why had I argued with Nick, about his lack of use of the condom? It was not because I could get pregnant. After all, I am using an oral contraceptive. Maybe the next time I visit the doctor, I’ll ask for the injection. Apart from pregnancy, there was not any other issue. Nick had brought round his health check certificate the other day, and as he said. He is clear of any disease.
The clatter of a door opening, and heels on the stone floor, has me turning my gaze towards the French doors. With a carefully placed smile, I watch as Rayven and Cassie came through to the garden, followed by Angel.
“Ladies, where’s the music? It’s time to get this party in full swing.”
Rayven, did not wait for an answer, as she turned back into the house. The sounds of Lady Gaga soon fills the garden.
“Hey, Angel, make me an appointment at the studio will you?”
“Sure. What do you want done Ellie?”
Five sets of eyes turned towards me. All in various degrees of shock and awe, as they waited for my answer. I may not be quite ready to go full bad ass, but what harm, could there be in a little body art. This party needed lightening up, and I was going to do just that.
“Oh, just a little body modification. I was watching this program, and I thought about having something, like small horns implanted.”
Angel is all bad girl. From the top of her head, to the Frankenstein style boots she is wearing. It was Angel, who was staring at me, as if I had lost a marble or two.
“Really.”
I was enjoying myself. Before I dignified Baby Blu with an answer. I poured myself another glass of wine, and nodded my head as I took a large swallow of the dark red liquid.
“Then I thought about finishing the transformation, with a nose ring. Do you think Adam will like it?”
“I wouldn’t stop there.”
Rayven had caught on to my game, and was now adding her opinions on what should be done. By the time it is decided that I should spike and dye my hair black, everyone was throwing in their own opinion about my transformation.
“Fancy dress.”
“Pardon?”
“Let’s have a fancy dress party at Tie Me Down. We’ll do a thyme night in aid of children’s cancer.”
“Rayven do you think Tabby will be fine with that?”
“Sure he will Cassie. Look, I shouldn’t say anything, but you all know Tabby’s history. Well, he has already participated in the occasional charity event when they come up. And he’ll be fine with this.”
“Can it wait till after the baby’s born?”
“Nope, you can come as Damien’s mom, Cassie.”
“Are you telling me I’m having a demon child Rayven?”
“Well…. He is the son of...”
“Shut up Rayven. It doesn’t say much for Kavan.”
“Oh, but he’s an angel. Look at his momma.”
As I listen to the banter and the laughter between the women, I silently thank Nick for his intervention, about Ivy spending the evening here. Without her, and the others, I would have spent the night, dwelling on Yvette.
“Ladies I need your help.”
“Sure.”
“Well, you’ve all seen Grease and the transformation the main character does.”
A slow, hesitant “yeah,” fills the yard.
“Does this mean we get to go shopping?”
While Rayven loved to organize parties, Baby Blu was a Shopaholic, and my request has her full attention.
“Sure, why not. It’ll be fun… Anyway the point, I’m trying to make is that, that bitch must be living in Comfort Springs.”
“And.” Ivy’s tentative question had us now looking at her.
“Well the bitch needs to know that she can’t get away with what she’s doing. Nick said it was up to me how I handled this, and I know what I’m going to do.”
A couple of years ago, Cassie had gotten rid of one of her rivals, with the help of Linc. Now it was my turn to remove the deadwood, which was cluttering up Comfort Springs. For the skank to know where I was and what was happening, I knew she had to be living in Comfort Springs. With my job, I had access to information, and it should be easy to find her, especially as I now had her name.
“Go on.”
“I haven’t formulated anything concrete. But the skank needs a fright. A simple warning will not do.”
“Come by the studio tomorrow Ellie, and while we do your
body modification
we’ll come up with something.”
“It’ll have to be after we’ve shopped. She needs to be dressed for the part.”
As I said, Baby Blu, loves to shop, and knows her priorities.
“This means I’m going to miss out on the fun.”
“No, it’ll not. You can sit safely on the sidelines and watch, Cassie.”
“Do I want to be privy to this conversation?”
“Sundance, how long have you been standing there?”
Baby Blu’s outrageous tone, has us all smiling. Whilst Sundance, neither looked put out, nor guilty that he had been caught eves dropping.
“You don’t scare me Baby Blu. Ellie, the kids are in bed, and they want you to read a story to them.”
“I’ll be back shortly ladies.”
“Take as long as you need. We have Sundance to entertain us.”
DCMC
When I arrived at the studio for my appointment, there was no sign of Linc. Neither has Nick returned any of my calls. This lack of communication, was leaving me with an uneasy feeling. Should I be worried, that something may have happened to Nick, or is he simply avoiding me?
“Hi Ellie, Gundog’s waiting for you.”
“You haven’t said anything to the others?”
“Nope. This is your surprise. You can still change your mind if you want?”
“No. Carl asked me to get it done, and I kept putting it off.”
My flesh, is virgin pure, I did not have a freckle, never mind any other markings, and now I was going to change all that.
“When Gundog’s finished with you, I’ll do your piercings.”
“Thanks Angel. Aren’t you going to sit in with me?”
“No, I’ve a couple of clients.”
Trepidation has me holding my breath, as I walk through the door to Gundog’s studio. The giant was standing by a bench, scribbling on a piece of paper. He must have heard me, because as I came further into the room, he lifted his head, and piercing green eyes stared at me. The light caught on the diamond stud on his chin as he spoke.
“Is this what you want?”
The design was not only beautiful. It was perfect.
Chapter 22
“What the hell were you playing at Fudge?”
Since our return to Comfort Springs, the sun has long settled. Inferno, and the brothers had not wanted to outstay their welcome at Blue River, and so we had returned. The lack of sleep is beginning to catch up with me, and hiding a yawn behind my hand, I looked at Inferno. We were in the club’s office and a meeting had been called.
“The scum needed a lesson.”
“Yeah, he did Fudge, and not just for what’s happening with Ellie. But at Devil’s Comfort. You know we don’t go off on our own.”
Inferno’s piercing gaze held mine, as he spoke directly to me. The room has quietened down as we come to a standoff. I refused to be repentant over what I had done. And if needed, I would do it again. I can still see the look of disbelief in Ellie’s eyes, as she cuddled into Adam. It should have been me, consoling her. Not some old boyfriend. An ex-boyfriend, she saw every day.
“You had other matters to take care of Inferno. And I dealt with my issue, how I saw fit to deal with it.”
“The attacks on Ellie, is club business Fudge. And do you want to know why. Because while you’re giving your attention to Ellie, it leaves the club vulnerable. And I’ll not have you or any of the other brothers, putting this club in jeopardy.”
“Have there been any more break-ins?”
“Not while Black County’s attention has shifted to Ellie. And that’s why its club business Fudge. Last night, we left the club unprotected, while you went off on one of your escapades.”
“Escapades, Inferno, really.”
“Get your act together Fudge. You’re a good Road Manager and brother, and I wouldn’t want to vote someone else in.”
“Do you want my badge, President?”
“No, I want you to remember that you’re a member of this club, and not a lone wolf. If there are problems. You bring them to the table.”
Throwing my hands up in the air, I gave in gracefully and rose from the table.
“I’m going for a drink. If there’s any more shit. You can guarantee I’ll bring it to the table,”
Without looking back, I leave the room. My first stop, is the bar where I collect a JB, then I head for the pool table. As I set the balls up, a set of heels, clack on the wooden floor and stop just behind me. Thinking that it was one of the whores. I continue with setting the table up
“Seeing you bent over that table, is giving me ideas, Nick.”
Hot lust poured to my balls and cock, at the sound of the voice. As I examine my injured hand, I refuse to turn at the sound. I had planned on spending the next couple of days at the club, as I did not want Ellie to see me like this.
“Well.”
“You know how to play?”
“Sure, you hit the balls with that stick.”
Stifling the laughter, which is building up in me, I lay the cue onto the table, and finally turn to Ellie. I do not know which one of us was in more shock. Ellie stood in front of me, wearing a low cut lime green T-shirt. The length of the skirt, gave me doubt, if it would be a good idea to play pool.
