Vaccine
A special preparation of antigenic (cell surface recognition molecules, which initiate immunity) material that can be used to stimulate the development of antibodies and thus confer active immunity against a specific disease or a number of diseases. Many are derived from cultur- ing bacteria or viruses in such a way to remove their infectivity.
