Compromised immune function.

Lack of digestive juices.

Action plan

Keeping a food and mood diary will help you understand how your diet is so closely related to this condition.

EAT/DRINK

Vegetable juices. They are full of healing nutrients and the removal of the fiber means they do not irritate the gut wall. Carrot and apple juice is soothing and palatable.

Fish oils. These are especially healing to the digestive tract.

Flax seed and hemp seed oils.

Fresh pineapple juice for its anti-inflammatory compounds.

AVOID

Food to which you may be intolerant. Dairy products, gluten grains, citrus fruits, yeast, corn, and tomatoes are common problem foods.

Salt, spices, pickles, carbonated drinks, caffeine, alcohol, sugar, processed foods, and additives. These may all increase inflammation.

HERBS AND SUPPLEMENTS

Herbal teas such as chamomile, fennel, nettle, fenugreek, and peppermint, hot water with fresh ginger. All are beneficial to gut function.

Horsetail tea, high in silica, can aid in the intestinal tissue healing.

Slippery elm bark tea. This can coat and soothe the digestive tract and reduce irritation.
