OUR NIGHTTIME STRATEGY:
• Each time Max wakes and gets out of his bed we will take his hand and walk him back to his bed.
• Each time he wakes up before 6:00 a.m. we will tell him calmly that “Your wake-up music is not on, which means its still nighttime so you must go back to sleep in your bed.”
• We will sit by his bed until he is asleep for the first three nights and follow the above chair positions.
 
OUR NAP PLAN:
• We agree that Max still needs one daytime nap.
• We have decided to start the nap-coaching process also.
• We will start the afternoon after the first night of sleep coaching.
 
We will be using the flexible schedule we outlined above.
We have reviewed the nap coaching on pages 34-35.
 
 
OUR SHORTENED PRE-NAP ROUTINE WILL BE:
1. pull shades down and review sleep manners for nap
2. read books
3. lights out
 
OUR BACK UP NAP PLAN IS:
We will take Max for a car ride on weekends and when he is home during the week. Our goal is for him to nap at least 45 minutes or be awake by 4:00 p.m.
 
 
 
OUR NAP PLAN AT HOME:
• During the weekends or days Max is not in school he will nap in his bed.
• Nap time will be between 12 noon to 1 p.m. like in preschool.
 
OUR CHILDCARE PROVIDER HAS AGREED TO THE FOLLOWING:
 
 
Max is in all-day preschool three days a week. He usually lies quietly in a cot. Preschool has agreed to wake him up after 1½ hours of sleep.
 
 
We’re ready to go! We have blocked out three weeks of our schedule and are dedicating ourselves to improving our child’s sleep habits! There is sleep for all at the end of the tunnel!
