When Krin emerged from her blissful stupor, it was to
with an unknown sense of shame. The feeling didn't seem to be her
own. She looked and found Terrian kneeling by the fire, his face in
his palms. She went to him and placed her hand on his shoulder. His
tear-stained eyes looked up to her.

“I’m so sorry, Krin. I never meant to... I shouldn’t
have… I’m so sorry Krin. Can you ever forgive me?”

“There is nothing for me to forgive, Terr. That was
everything I had hoped it could be and more.” She pressed herself
into him, hugging him and placing a gentle kiss on his cheek.

“I… I… I claimed you, Krin. I shouldn’t have. I’m so
sorry.” She felt another sob wrack his body.

“Claimed me?’

He looked into her eyes, tracing his fingers over the
already healing marks on her throat. “It’s called blood mating. Do
you know what it is?”

She felt her own neck and recalled the last moments
of their lovemaking. In the throes of passion, some part of her had
screamed for her to bite into the vein she saw throbbing in his
neck. It transfixed her and in her orgasm, she had obeyed her inner
command without thought. She shook her head ‘no’ in response to his
question, eyeing the marks mirrored on his own throat.

“At first I had hoped, that maybe, because you were a
half-breed, that it wouldn’t work. That you would be spared. But I
can hear your thoughts Krin. We’re bound. We are joined for
eternity; body, mind, and soul.”

“You still have no reason to apologize, Terr.” A
sudden, powerful feeling of warmth, comfort, and acceptance filled
both of their minds and hearts. “I love you. I want to be with you
always.”

“Oh, Krinza. I love you also.”
