“Well yeah. It’s a lifestyle. It’s my lifestyle. It takes discipline and you are super discipline.”

“So I have to discipline myself not to rip throats out and drain people.”

“Yes exactly. We are MLK in Selma Alabama, non violent. You have to master this. I have my girlfriend around and some of my friends come over. I’m going to have to be able to trust you around them.

The sun looked beautiful as it came up across the empty field. This was a sight Max could look at forever. He never was in awe of much but the sun rising was always something he believed to be a miracle. Max sat on the hood of the parked Range Rover with a bottled beer in his warm hand. Ryan leaned against the truck beside Max. He took his place on Max’s right side. They always stood in this formation. The other side just didn’t feel right to either of them.

“Goddamnit.” Max barked.

“Don’t beat yourself up. We can’t save everybody.”

“Everybody? Ryan when was the last time we saved anybody?”

“This job is hard. You know that.” Ryan spoke words that were true even if they weren’t comforting.

“Hard, that’s the understatement of the decade. It’s fucking impossible.”

“Sure, the stress is too much. But we are making a difference. We’re helping people.”

Max shook his head. “A few and far in between.”

“If we stop for one moment to think about it we would crack up.” Ryan looked off into the distance. He truly understood how his brother felt. The job of a hunter was a thankless job with nothing but death and disappointment.

“Ryan I swear I am one step from flying over the cuckoo’s nest.”

“I hear you bro. This is our life, it’s what we signed up for.”

“I don’t remember signing up for a goddamn thing.” Max roared. He was exhausted with this life. He was having a hard time remembering being anything other than a hunter.

“Max come on. Stop beating yourself up.”

“I finally meet the one woman that understands me and can accept me for who I am and I fail her. I failed to protect her.”

“Listen Max, she made her choice. What we do is dangerous. Scar knew that out the gate, when she signed up for the life of a hunter. When you were turned you resisted the call of blood. You didn’t feed on any humans.”

The memory of the blood cravings made Max shiver. “It was one of the hardest things. The blood is all you crave. It’s all you think about.”

“Yeah but Max you were stronger than Scar. That’s not your fault. We are hunters. This is our life.”

“Look little brother, my life, our life, this is no life at all. Roy was right. We are the kiss of death.”

Thank you for your purchase. This is book one in a three-part trilogy called The Fox Brothers. These books are about two sexy vampire hunters that happen to be brothers. I decided to mix my love of vampires with the interracial romance genre. I am currently working on the second book in this book series. You don’t have to worry about the second and third book taking forever to be written and released. I will release the second book in 30 days and the third book 30 days after that.

This book was adapted from a teleplay I wrote years ago. I don’t advise anyone to take a teleplay and turn it into a book. It’s much harder than it seems. I have a few screenplays. I plan to adapt them all into novels because they probably wouldn’t get read otherwise. This is my second book written in third person. I can’t wait to go back to first.
