“What in the hell was that?” She sounded exhausted, but when she turned her head to the side he could see a small smile on her face.

“That was me getting my fucking girl off.” He took hold of the root of his shaft and started stroking himself. He could get off on the look of her pleasure alone, but it seemed she had other things in mind. Jane rolled onto her back and reached for him.

“Make love to me, Mack. Show me how much you love me.” When he was between her splayed thighs, and was positioned at her entrance again, he stared into her eyes. Slowly he pushed into her this time, never taking his eyes off of her. Resting his arm beside her head, he buried himself in her wet heat and made love to her nice and easy. In and out, keeping the same pace every time, and experiencing the buildup of his orgasm.

He felt his climax approach. It started as a tingling in at the base of his spine and moved quickly through him. “I’m going to come, baby.” He bumped her clit with the base of his dick, and she mewled.

“I’m not on the pill.”

He slowed marginally and kissed her.

“I don’t care. Do you?” Coming inside of her and risking pregnancy was a chance he was willing to take. He wanted Jane, had no intentions of ever letting her go, and knew that she was the female he wanted to marry and carry his babies. She shook her head.

“No. I love you, and I want everything you have to give, Mack.” He kissed her just as his orgasm tore through him. He came harder than he ever had. It sucked the air from his lungs, stole his sanity, and he knew that he would never be the same. Janie was his, he was marking her, claiming her, and what he felt for her was real on every level.

“I love you, Jane. Christ, I love you so damn much.” He groaned once more and stilled as his pleasure finally receded. They lay there for several minutes, neither saying anything, but there wasn’t a need for words. When he pulled back fearing he was crushing her, a grunt left him when his dick slipped free of her pussy. For a second all he did was
stare
between her legs and watched as his cum slipped out of her. Possessiveness filled him. He went to get something to clean her up, but she reached out and grabbed his hand, pulling him back on the bed.

“Just hold me.”

And that was exactly what he did. He held her until the sun set and the moon was high in the sky, and continued to hold her until he finally found peace in sleep, and where the nightmares of his past didn’t try to take him away.

Epilogue

Eight months later

Mack slammed his fist into the fighter, and grinned when he fell on his ass. The crowd went wild, screamed for more blood, and he was more than willing to deliver on that. The Irish fighter with his bright red hair and even ruddier complexion got up and charged forward. Sweat dripped off his body, mixing with the blood from his split lip, busted ass fuck eye, and bleeding nose. He came after Mack like some kind of asshole possessed, but Mack was ready to go another round just for the hell of it. This was the last fight Mack was going to do until after he could spend some time with Jane and his baby girl, who was due in just a few short weeks. He bounced on the balls of his feet, swung left, and then right, and dodged yet another failed right hook the Irish attempted to deliver. He thought he heard his name being called, but it was almost impossible to know if it was one of his guys, or part of the screaming crowd on the other side of the cage.

“Mack!”

He heard his name being called that time, and through the crush of bodies saw Taylor holding up his cell phone and pointing to it. Everything in him stopped, and his guard went down at the sight of that phone. He knew what that meant. Janie was going into labor. The other fighter caught him in the jaw with a sucker punch, and Mack stumbled back.

“Oh yeah, that’s right,
motherfucka
’. I’m about to collect a hefty amount for kicking your ass.”

Mack ran the back of his hand over his mouth, saw the blood smeared across it, and was about to put an end to this shit now. He charged forward, and it was only a second of seeing the fighter’s eyes widen before he tackled him to the floor, and slammed his fist into the side of his face. He could have kept going, but knew the guy was out cold, and had somewhere far more important to be right now. He got his ass out of the cage, pushed the fuckers in the crowd out of his way, and grabbed the phone from Taylor.

“Baby?
Are you okay?” He was striding through the crowd, making his way outside and blocking out everyone else except the most important person to him, who just happened to be on the other end.

“Yeah, I’m okay. The doctor said the baby is coming sooner than we thought.”

Fuck
. “But you’re not nine months yet. I knew I shouldn’t have left tonight. Shit.”

“Mack, calm down. I’ve been having Braxton Hicks contractions since I was five months pregnant. I didn’t think they could be real since I have four weeks left to go, but they started getting painful the last hour and a half, and I thought I’d head in to make sure everything is okay. The doctor said thirty-six weeks is full-term enough, Mack.” She was breathing heavily, but he heard Harlond and Sunny in the background trying to soothe her. Thank God they were there with her.

“I’ll be there as soon as I can, baby. I love you.” He hung up the phone, and saw Taylor making his way beside him.

“I’ll grab your gear. Here are the keys to the truck.” He grabbed them, nodded in thanks, and ran out of the door. He immediately saw Taylor’s truck. He was shirtless, had blood on his chest and most likely his mouth, and was barefoot. Fuck, they weren’t going to let him in the hospital like this. He climbed in the driver’s side and turned to look in the back seat. Taylor always kept extra shit in his truck. He spied a t-shirt and a pair of sneakers. His fighting shorts would have to do. Peeling out of the abandoned parking lot, he headed for Absinthe General well over the speed limit, but just let a cop pull him over. They’d first have to catch him.

Once he reached the parking garage of the hospital twenty minutes later, which was still too long for his comfort, he grabbed a bottle of water on the passenger side floor, climbed out, and cleaned the blood from his face. His lip was swollen from the punch, and he had seen the nasty looking bruise starting to form on his cheek, but screw it. His wife was having their first baby, and no way in hell was anyone going to stop him from being there.

It was hell trying to navigate through the damn place, but finally he located the labor and delivery floor, and someone showed him where Jane was. It was only when he saw her in the bed talking to the doctor that he finally breathed out in relief. She looked over at him, and the smile that covered her face would have brought him to his knees if he didn’t have an overload of adrenalin pumping through his bloodstream. The doctor, a younger skinny guy, looked over at him, and his eyes widened.

“I, uh.”
He looked at Jane.

“That’s my husband.” She closed her eyes, and Mack watched her whole body tense. The doctor looked at a screen with a bunch of lines on it.

“Is everything okay?” He moved to Jane’s bedside and grabbed her hand, giving her a reassuring squeeze.

“Everything is fine. She was just having a contraction. I was just telling your wife that she is fully dilated and ready to push. If you would have been here any later you might have missed the birth of your baby.” The doctor smiled. “For a first baby your wife’s labor has gone remarkably fast.” There was a knock on the door, and Harlond and Sunny came in. They checked on Jane, but left minutes later.

“She’ll be here soon, Janie.” He leaned down and kissed her on the forehead.

“I know, Mack.” He brushed a few stray pieces of hair from her face and smiled down at her. They had gotten married a month after Jane had moved to Absinthe. It had been a small, very quick, ceremony with her parents, her friend, Celine, Harlond, Sunny, and Taylor in attendance. The reception was where everyone else came to celebrate with them, and that was the same night they found out she was pregnant. It had been one of the best fucking days of his life. He married the girl he had been in love with since he had been an adolescent asshole, and found out he was going to be a father. The doctor and a handful of nurses came in minutes later, all ready to help bring his little girl into the world.

It was an hour later of Jane pushing, and sixty minutes of Mack watching her in pain and not able to do anything about it, but then their daughter, Isabel Mila Draykovich was brought into the world. Once his little six pound five ounce baby girl was bundled up and handed to him, Mack couldn’t help but stare at the miracle in his arms. She had a tuft of black hair, and when she opened her eyes, clearly unfocused, and stared at him with eyes that he knew would be a bright blue as Jane’s, his chest tightened, and the sting of tears pricked at the corner of his eyes. Isabel started to cry, and the sound was so tiny that he smiled. He walked up to Jane, gave his wife a long kiss, and handed their baby to her.

“She’s beautiful, Mack.” Jane ran her finger along the bridge of Isabel’s nose, and instantly the baby calmed.

“Yeah, she is, just like her mom.” Jane smiled up at him, and he knew that all of the pain, anger, and self-hatred he had harbored for so long in his life, had been worth it. This one moment showed him that life could be pretty fucking shitty, but as long as someone didn’t give up the result could be the most incredible thing to ever happen. And Mack could attest to that, because his once fucked up life was pretty amazing right here with his girls.
