I picked the tickets up yesterday and made sure I switched money into my dummy account. My girl had expensive taste, and I had to make sure I had funds in there, then I checked for my Black Card. I didn’t mind spending money on her, because she was going to be my wife and whatever she wanted she got.

“What it do bro?” I heard a familiar voice behind me that I hadn’t heard in a while.

“Javon? Where the hell you been?” We gave each other a half of hug.

“Just chilling. You know same ole, same ole.”

“I hear ya.”

“What’s up with you?”

“Not much. Spring and I had a baby. I’m thinking about wifing her.”

“Oh shit, my nigga. You’re about to jump the broom? I heard you had a baby though.”

“It looks that way.” I noticed him glancing at his phone multiple times like he was waiting on someone to call him.

“What’s up Javon? You good?”

“Yea, why you ask that?”

“Because you keep checking your phone and surroundings. You got beef?”

“Nah, I was waiting for my cousin. He came down to help me with something.”

“Oh, that’s what’s up? Hit me up later. Maybe we can get a drink.”

“That’s what’s up.”

He gave me a pound and headed in the opposite direction. I grabbed one of those red baskets from in front of the store and grabbed some formula, diapers, and wipes for my son. I wanted to make sure he was stocked up so B didn’t have to worry about it. I got to the house and sent Spring a text over an hour ago asking her what she wanted for dinner, because I wanted to order out, but she never text me back.

“Yo, come get your son. He smell like shit, and the only shit I’m cleaning is my daughters.” Monty handed him to me.

“I hope he hasn’t been like this long.”

“Nah, he just started going. I would’ve changed him if you weren’t here in an hour.”

“A hour nigga. You would let him sit in it for an hour?”

“Shut your ass up. You know I’m just fucking with you. But now that you’re here, I’m not changing him.”

“Where’s B and Spring?” I looked at my clock, and it was after seven. Spring was always home at five.

“B is upstairs giving Madison a bath. I don’t know where Spring is. Now that you mention it, I didn’t see her car outside.” I sent Spring another text and waited a few minutes before I called her phone that went straight to voicemail.

“B, please tell me Spring is at the office, and she’s just running late.” She had a confused look on her face.

“What do you mean? I haven’t seen her all day. I thought she was with you.”

“What do you mean you haven’t seen her all day? She should’ve been at work when you got there.”

“You’re right, but I didn’t get there until after eleven, and her door was closed. I figured you picked her up and took her out.” I handed the baby to her and jumped in my car. I had to run back in the house.

“B, give me the keys to your office.”

“What’s going on?”

“Something happened to Spring.”

“Where is she?”

“I don’t know. I haven’t heard from her all day. I need to check her office.”

“I’m coming.” She said. We jumped in the car, and I sped to their office. Spring’s car was still in the parking lot at the office. I took two steps at a time to their fifth-floor office. Fuck waiting on the elevator.

“Spring. Are you here?” I tried opening her door, and it was something in front of it to keep it from opening.

“Monty, come help me push this open.” We both used our shoulders and pushed it open. B vomited at the sight.

“Who would do this to her.” She and I ran over to her while Monty checked the rest of her office. I picked her up and ran down the steps with her fast as I could without falling.

“Chase is that you?”

“It’s me baby. You’re safe. Who did this to you?”

“Spring can you hear me?”

She passed back out before she could answer. They rushed her in the back, and Monty passed me some piece of paper.

“I told you if I gave you this dick, you would keep your mouth quiet. Well, here’s that dick I promised you.”
