Certainly, right away
,” said
Dante
quickly coming to the door and following Wendy inside.

Dante
,
tonight is the last night the Princess Kali is going to be single. In our culture, we like to throw a girl a bachelorette party. Are you familiar with what that is?”

“Why of course
,
though it’s not safe for you two to leave the compound. Sebastian would never say yes to that.”

That got me. I knew being in the compound was the right thing to do, but no one is to say what I can or cannot do. Husband, boyfriend or friend… I am my own person and I decided what I do or don’t do. “I am not looking for Sebastian’s approval on where or what I do. What she is asking is if you have heard of a bachelorette party
,
” I said with a stern tone. Stern enough it made Wendy turn and stare at me in a strange way.

“Yes of course
,
Princess. I understand what you are asking and have heard of a bachelorette party.”

“Great
,
then is there any place on the grounds that we could go celebrate? Like a bar or club or something?” asked Wendy i
n
a super friendly voice, probably trying to make up for me sounding bitchy.

“We have a couple different venues you might enjoy. You need to be accompanied though. There are exceedingly few Mandurago
m
ates, under the circumstances it would not be safe for you, the Princess Kali, to be alone in a bar even in the compound
,

Dante
said, not meeting my eyes.

“Wait, why is that? I thought we were safe here
.
Why would we need to be accompanied?”

“A Mandurago
m
ate is extraordinarily rare. Rare enough that another rogue Mandurago might feel the need to try to steal you, and make you his own. Certainly it’s wrong
,
being that you are bound to Sebastian, but it is an unfortunate reality.”

“Thank you
, Dante
,
for your truths. We are going to finish unpacking and then maybe with your help you could show us around and we’ll try out those places you mentioned
,
” I said
,
opening the door and gesturing for him to leave.

“What the hell!” Wendy said when he walked out the door. “I thought you were safe here, but now it seems like we went out of the
frying pan and into the fire
.”

I thought about what
Dante
had said and what Wendy was saying. I need
ed
to talk to Sebastian, so I excused myself and went and locked myself in the bathroom. I took off my mental metal ski cap, knowing that most of the nearby Manduragos may be able to hear my thoughts, and I sent a message to Sebastian.

Sebastian…we need to talk.

I waited a minute. I could feel his mind
,
so I knew he was very close by.

Sadie, I was just making arrangements with Angus for tomorrow night. Is everything okay?

Wendy wanted to have a bachelorette party tonight. Seems
Dante
thinks that’s a bad idea. That you wouldn’t allow that?

He doesn’t know you very well
,
does he
?
(I heard what I thought was a chuckle in his head
.
) As you know
,
you are free to do whatever you please as long as you are careful. I just want you safe my
l
ove
,
that is all.

I know
,
honey, but then he brought up the topic of “rogue” Manduragos…

There was a slight pause. I could feel him thinking and knew that he was not happy that I had been told about them.

Sebastian? You should have told me. Now I feel like we aren’t safe here either.

Sadie
,
I didn’t tell you because I knew you would worry. Manduragos are a loyal group. We are a brotherhood of people that are chosen for our attributes. Most of us are chosen for our strength, character or intellect. But with any large groups of people, over time some can turn rogue. These Manduragos are no longer part of the brotherhood and no longer considered one of us. They would have an extremely hard time getting into the compound and getting near you. That is why I didn’t tell you because I didn’t honestly think it was something we necessarily needed to worry about. A bigger real threat would be Lars and the Dracco
c
lan.

I understand, but
Dante
seems to have a different outlook on this. He lives here, maybe this is a bigger problem on the compound than we realize. He is adamant that he must go with us no matter where we go. I could tell he felt as if this is a viable problem.

He is overreacting. He’s young and probably never had a run in with a rogue in his life. I will talk to him. He should not be scaring you just because he is naive.

Don’t you dare
,
Sebastian. I know you, you’ll scare him to death and then he will be afraid to even talk to us.

Sadie
,
I won’t be that harsh, but I don’t want him scaring my soon
-
to
-
be wife.

He’s not scaring me and you don’t talk to him. I am going to finish unpacking and then he is going to escort us out to a bar.

WHAT? You are not leaving the compound.

Really? What happened to “you can do whatever you want?” from a minute ago.

Again there was a short pause…

Well
,
you can do whatever you like, no matter how bad an idea it is. But if you are leaving the compound I’m going with you.

No worries Sebastian, the bar is here somewhere on the compound. I’m not leaving the facility. But I do like to hear you get all worked up.
I giggled in my head to him.

You are in so much trouble
,
Sadie. Just wait until tomorrow night. I will have to take it out on you then.

I can’t wait
,
my darling. I have a few ideas I want to try on you
,
too.

I could feel his lust
and
was surprised he wasn’t headed to my door by the emotions and raw passion I could feel in his thoughts.

I look forward to it
,
m

ove….

Oh
,
tomorrow is going to rock!

Chapter Six

“What are you going to wear?” asked Wendy as she went through her clothes. Thankfully I brought a lot of clothes, but I certainly didn’t think to bring something to wear out to a club
,
let alone a bachelorette party. Thankfully
,
though
,
I was prepared and found just the right outfit.

“I think I’m going to wear my black, full mini skirt with my off the shoulder black sweater and my red pumps with the 4
-inch
heels.”

“Oh
,
I love those shoes. They’ll look fun with the black outfit. I am thinking about wearing my short
,
purple pixie dress. You know
,
the tight one that drives Ludwik crazy
,

s
he said
,
giggling a bit. I had a feeling she may be doing this outing tonight to make Ludwik jealous as much as taking me out for one last fun time before I’m married.

“I’ll get dressed super quick and then we can go
,
” I said as I ran back to the bathroom. The bathroom in this place was incredible. No surprise for the Manduragos
,
but I was impressed. The shower could have fit 10 people in it and had multiple shower heads. Come to think of it, maybe they did have ten people in it at some point. Those Manduragos like to party. (Note to self.
.
.find out if Sebastian has been in a shower with more than one person. Nah
,
scratch that…I don’t want to know
.
)

I threw my clothes on, brushed my hair, touched up my makeup and was ready to go. I was heading across the room in my little black mini when there was a knock at the front door. I walked over to answer it, but before I got there it opened on its own, and in walked my extremely handsome
,
soon-to-be husband. He was wearing ripped up dark jeans and a black knit sweater. He looked incredible as always
,
but seemed to have a certain distinctive glimmer in his eye.

“Sadie, you look gorgeous. Are you actually going out among the other Manduragos looking so ripe for the picking?” Sebastian grabbed my hands and pulled me to him. He held me close waiting for my answer.

“A girl’s
gotta
have some fun while she can. Anyway, I heard these Manduragos can party. Do you think if I go into the bar and ask who wants to get festive with me, I might get some takers?” I looked up at him shyly through my lashes.

“Oh Sadie, you would have so many takers I would have to go in and fight them off you.” With that, he leaned down and kissed me intensely. His hands were gently caressing my body, moving slowly up my sides and then down my back. His kiss was growing more forceful, his tongue exploring my mouth, taking me in. He moved his hand down my side to my thigh, finding the hem of my skirt. Slowly he began stroking up my leg
,
th
e
n under my skirt, his touch gentle yet searching.
I need you
,
Sadie. I can’t stop thinking about tomorrow night. How you will finally be mine.
Gently he stroked the front of my panties, swirling his finger around, driving me crazy. His other hand was on my back, keeping me from falling down from his touch.

“This is so not fa
i
r, teasing me like this when we can’t do anything. You’re rotten
,
” I told him
,
yet I didn’t move or stop him. I just stayed there and enjoyed his touch, his lips, and his body next to mine.

“Want me to leave guys?” said Wendy from the other room.

I had totally forgotten we weren’t alone. I moved away from Sebastian and straightened my skirt. “Now you got me all hot and bothered, and you are sending me out to a bar, possibly full of rogue Manduragos?  Can’t you guys smell arousal?”

“I can
. W
ell
,
yours anyway.” He smiled that sinister smile of his. “You’re safe though, I have the word out that you will be stepping out tonight and that you are to have fun. So enjoy yourself
,
but remember you are mine tomorrow.” With that, he kissed me and walked out the door.

That man, he is going to be the death of me. I tried pulling myself together
,
but decided to sit down and wait for Wendy.

“He’s gone
,
Wendy. I’m ready whenever you are.”

“Good because I thought I was going to have to throw water on you two pretty soon if you didn’t stop. That would drive me crazy
. H
ow are you doing it?”

“One day at a time
,
Wendy. You know I’m nervous about tomorrow though. It’s been such a long time
coming;
I just want it to be perfect. He’s a Mandurago, he’s much older and he’s got to have had a ton of partners. I’m a little concerned that I won’t be good enough and he’ll be disappointed. I haven’t been with a ton of guys, just a few…what if with all this anticipation, the first time is funky? What if he is expecting more? What if it sucks
,
Wendy?? “

“Sadie
,
he loves you. Whenever you love someone it’s amazing. Look at Ludwik and me. We waited longer than I normally do, but when we finally did it, it was incredible. Each time is better and better
,
too. It seems to be better the more you know the person. Imagine all that passion you just felt, now imagine that when making love. It’ll be phenomenal, something for you to remember always.” Wendy smiled and then I could see the wheels of thought turning in her head. She asked, “You will remember it won’t you? All of this? Tonight and tomorrow? Your life before
the Turn
?”

“I was worried about that too originally. Sebastian said it’s much like a light switch flipping on in a dark room. You thought you could see fine before
,
but once the lights
are
on everything is lit up, and you can see so much more. He said it’s like all my senses will be heightened and I will be 100 times more me than ever before. So I’ll still have all my likes, dislikes and memories from before. He said I won’t change much emotionally after
the Turn
. Imagine that. Imagine if you were a teenager and went through the change then. You would be stuck in teenage angst for all eternity.”
