Sally cut him off and put her hand on his knee. He looked at her hand—her perfectly manicured hand—and wanted it to caress his cock like she did last night. “I didn’t do anything I didn’t want to do. Yes, I was drunk off my ass but that just allowed me to be brave and do what I’ve been dreaming about.”

“You dreamt about sleeping with me?”

Sally suddenly looked down instead of at him. “Connor, you are the hottest man I have ever seen. I would have to be blind not to see it. I take that back. Even if I was blind, I think I would still want you.”

“Than what’s the problem? We both want to be together.”

“It’s just too much, Connor. I need time. I just want to go back to being friends. I need time to process everything.”

Connor stood up and took a deep breath. He wanted nothing more than her in his arms. He sat down again, but this time leaned over her and claimed her with his lips in a kiss that took her breath away. She only resisted a moment before opening her mouth for him. He penetrated her with his tongue, tasting every inch of her. He stroked her fangs with his tongue as they descended. He pulled away and could see that he had brought on the blood hunger in her. Impulsively, he offered his neck to her. As she struck his neck, it hurt only a moment before the pain was replaced with intense pleasure and desire. His cock was hard and more than ready for her. He could hear her drinking his blood down and then he felt her tongue dart out of her mouth as she licked his blood to seal the wound. He looked at Sally with blood on her tongue and fangs and it turned him on even more.

“You are so fucking hot. Please don’t send me away,” Connor said in a husky voice.

Sally stood up and Connor followed her. “I can’t do this. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have bitten you. It was wrong. It’s just that, well... I got carried away. You offered. And your blood; it smelled so delicious and I was hungry.”

S
ally knew she was lying to herself and Connor. It was much more than that. Connor was everything she ever wanted and she was scared shitless.

“We both did things. I’m going to leave and let you rest. I will pick you up tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. I’m taking you out, my choice this time, and don’t ask, yes it is a date. A real date. Don’t bother fighting it and wear something sexy.” Connor leaned over her and gave her a chaste kiss on the cheek and left.

Sally slowly sat back down on the couch. Connor was so bossy and demanding. She smiled. She liked it a lot more than she ever thought she would. On their friendly dates he was so easygoing. This was different. This was Dominating Alfa Connor. Was she wrong looking for subservient men all these centuries? Maybe what she needed was to be controlled, to be dominated? The thought of all the dirty ways he could dominate her in the bedroom put a fangy smile on her face. Unaware of her surroundings, she looked up to find Abby standing there with a bottle of blood in her hands.

“Sally, are you hungry?” Abby asked with an upturned smile. She looked like she was going to burst despite having a few more months to go in her pregnancy.

“No; I just ate.”

“Oh, so those are dirty thoughts that are making you fangy? Been there more than once.” She laughed. “So embarrassing when we are out and it happens. Most of the time, I’m so lost in my dirty thoughts I don’t realize it’s happening.”

Sally immediately looked down. What was wrong with her? She was normally so confident. Why was she embarrassed to be fantasizing about Connor?

Abby sensed Sally’s discomfort and took her hand and hugged her. “I know how you feel; when I met Javon and fell in love, I was blushing all the time. Luckily, you can’t blush, but your face still shows your feelings. When you fall in love, everything is amplified. Especially being a Vampire. We are intense creatures. You should know all this better than anyone.” Sally knew this from other Vampires but never felt like anything was amplified. Well maybe the sex with Connor. It was better than anything she had ever experienced.

“Thank you, Abby,” Sally said. “I think I need to go rest and think about things; I’m a little confused right now.”

Abby took a big gulp of her orange flavored blood. “Mmm, that’s good. I’ll see you this evening and we can talk, okay?”

They both walked upstairs together, and then turned in opposite directions to their rooms. Sally couldn’t help but envy Abby. To be turned by your eternal mate must be amazing. To search for thousands of years for someone to share your life with was frustrating, to say the least.

Chapter 9

E
bo knocked on the door to the hotel room and waited patiently for an answer. The door cracked opened. Dakarai scowled at him before opening the door for him to enter. Ebo was Egyptian, with tan skin, shoulder length straight black hair, and dark emerald green eyes. He was tall, broad, and muscular. After Salihah took off, Dakarai kept him around for a few years, eventually turning him.

“Do you treat all your progeny this way, Sire?” Ebo said in a condescending tone.

“Only the ones I regret turning; I should have staked you while you were young and weak.”

“Yes, there are things we all wish we could have done. I wish I had stayed with Salihah. Instead, I stayed in the cave and became your blood whore, and then your slave until I grew up and escaped from you.”

“What are you doing here, Ebo? I told you I didn’t want to see your worthless face ever again.”

“You didn’t think you could just find her on your own, did you?”

“I have no idea what you are talking about.”

“I’m not the same stupid boy you turned. I keep tabs on her, but I never interfere. I knew eventually you would crawl out from under your rock and try to take her. She is not yours, mine, or anyone else’s. I won’t let you harm her.”

Dakarai stood as Ebo walked over and sat on the oversized couch in the hotel suite. Dakarai sank onto a chair on the opposite side of the room.

“I love her, Ebo. I have this need to be with her, to take her as my eternal mate. I can’t explain it; I've felt this way since I first set eyes on her.”

“She isn't a piece of property to be owned; if she loved you, she would have searched you out by now,” Ebo said with a sigh. “Sire,” he said gently. “You must think what is best for her, not what you want. I will leave you, but know this: I will not let you force her to do anything she doesn’t want to do. I am watching and I have people watching. You cannot do a thing in this town without me knowing about it.” Ebo stood up and gave Dakarai a slight, reverent bow before exiting the suite.

Dakarai sat on the couch after Ebo left. There was no denying that Ebo was a full grown mature Vampire male with all the powers that came with it. He was a handsome male whom the women had always appreciated; it came in very handy when they needed to feed before Vampire bars were in existence. Dakarai would send the young Ebo out to a party and he would bring back a meal or two. Ebo had been a mistake; a mistake he could never fix.

E
bo sat in his car outside Sally’s opulent house. He came to warn her about Dakarai, but couldn’t do it. He didn’t want her to know he had been watching her for the last eighty years. It was a far cry from the place she had in Louisiana. He watched the lights flickering from inside the house. An iron gate surrounded the house, with a guard dog keeping a close eye on him. Thankfully, it did not bark.

He could smell the moisture in the air from the lake behind the house; he found it amusing that she lived on a lake when she never learned to swim. He knew everything there was to know about her; her likes, dislikes, her lovers, nothing got past him. He knew anyone looking at his actions would say he was a stalker, but he didn’t feel that way. Ebo started his car back up. He would protect her but he just couldn’t face her, not after the horrible mistake he made.

New Orleans, Louisiana 1932

(Sally’s Past)

Sally sat down at the
Black Cat
, a popular speakeasy in New Orleans. They served food and alcohol in coffee cups during the day and a full-blown speakeasy at night. The room was dimly lit with plain white walls and wooden furniture. There was a stage for performances, but tonight there were none. She sat at the bar, having her drink, while she observed the humans, wondering which one would do as a meal and some entertaining sex.

She finished her drink and got up to walk around. She found the best way to find a meal was to wait until it came to her; a willing male was never a hard thing to find. She felt a hand on her shoulder and when she turned around she found a familiar face staring back at her, a face she hadn't seen since her turning. The man standing before her looked like Ebo, her first meal. He was older, more muscular, and his face was fuller and more mature.

“Salihah, I have found you at last!” he said in their native Egyptian tongue.

“Speak English,” she hissed in a hushed tone. “I’m Sally now,” she said, grabbing his arm, his very muscular arm.
Nice,
she thought to herself.

“What are you doing here, Ebo, and how did you find me?” she asked in a falsely disinterested voice.

“You had my blood in you. I was able to track you.”

“Ebo, I’m impressed you tracked me, but what do you want?

“It’s Dakarai; he never stopped looking for you. After you ran away, he kept me for a long time, before turning me.

“Ebo, I’m sorry. We should go somewhere more private and talk.”

Ebo nodded and Sally led him out of the speakeasy. She took his arm and held onto him as they walked through an alley nearby. She opened a darkened door and inside the lights came on. It was an old abandoned warehouse turned into a living space. The small high windows were painted black and covered. The area used for a living room was sparsely decorated with a plain green area rug and mismatched grey couch and floral patterned chair. The far corner of the room was set up as a bedroom with a plain full size bed and small dresser.

“Come on, Ebo; sit.”

She sat on the old comfortable couch; Ebo reluctantly sat next to her. Sally could tell he was attracted to her. She still remembered her first feeding; how he wanted her and rubbed up against her.

“Sally,” he said carefully. “I never forgot you after that day; you were like a goddess in my mind.”

“Ebo, I know during a feeding a human can feel things. What you felt wasn’t real. It was fantasy.”

“I dreamt about you and what it would be like if you wanted me.” Ebo shifted uncomfortably on the couch. Sally reached for him and he leaned into her hand like a friendly cat.

“I can let you have your dream, but just for one night. It’s all I can offer.” Sally stood up and walked over to the bed. Ebo followed her. Her dress fell to her feet after unfastening it. Stepping out of it, she continued on to the bed with nothing on but a pair of lacy black panties. Ebo stood there, obviously aroused but not sure what to do. Sally felt herself get a little nervous. She was never nervous, but he looked at her like a dream come true. Sally let out a breath, not realizing she was holding it in. Her undead heart beat faster. Could she do it? Could she make love to Ebo, with his tan skin, his dark beautiful eyes, and his muscular body—could she only have him once? For only one night?

No
, she thought,
this will be one night, but definitely more than once
.

Chapter 10

C
onnor sat back in his leather seat. It was nearly 2:00 a.m. He wondered if Mr. Randall would actually show up. He continued answering several emails from the VC Council when the intercom buzzed at a little after two. He wasn’t looking forward to the meeting at all. No matter what the council thought, it was going to be difficult to get humans to accept the unknown, and unfortunately he had no way of determining if other paranormals would ever come out.

“Mr. O’Connor, Mr. Randall is here for his appointment. Should I send him in?”

“Yes; send him in, Maria.” Connor waited until the door opened slowly and a man came in. He was surprised at how young the man was—probably early twenties. He had a short, sensible haircut, wasn’t that tall–maybe a little under six feet—and he wore a simple black suit and smiled at Connor as he entered the room. He stuck his hand out and they shook.
