“I didn’t. It just came to me.” He smiled at her. It was that smile again. The same smile that made her feel that she was the most beautiful girl in the world.

When he was about to reach for his pocket, he realized he forgot his phone in his car. There was definitely something wrong with him. He was all over the place.

“But I don’t have my phone with me. I left it in the car. Can we use yours instead?” There was a hint of embarrassment in his voice. He fucking hoped she didn’t notice.

She didn’t say a word but simply nodded.

And just like that they took a photo together. They were too close that it wasn’t a photo two strangers should take. They looked like they had known each other for a very long time.

“Good luck with your studies Meahri. You’re a great girl. I know you’ll be a successful artist in the future. I do hope this won’t be the last time I’ll see you.” He smiled at her before he left.

What in the world did just fucking happen?
She thought as she stare at the bouquet and the small box of cake in front of her.

Chapter One

1 month later.

“Hey Vhynce.” She tried her best to sound normal but failed.

“Hey.”

Just one word and yet it sounded like a lullaby to her ears. It wasn’t a lullaby that would bring her to sleep but instead the kind that would bring her to heaven. He sounded so sweet but she knew that he always sounded that way. He was a sweet man after all.

That’s her rockstar.

“By the way, congratulations in releasing another album. I’m pretty sure it would be successful like your past albums.” She said as she watched him sign her copy of the album.

“Thank you.” He gave it to her and shook her hand.

“Thanks Vhy—“

She forgot what she was about to say.

Who wouldn’t? When her rockstar touched her right upper arm and rubbed it. Seemed like the cold got to her and made her hands ice cold that Vhynce felt it. He was just being nice to do such gesture to warm her up.

What the man didn’t know was when a fangirl received such gesture from their rockstar, it didn’t matter how low the temperature was. Even if it were a negative 3-digit temperature, the fan would heat up like a wildfire.

“You’re cold. Take care on your way home.” He smiled.

She daydreamed again. She can’t believe that Vhynce did that to her.

It’s been 3 days since the signing event and she was still in cloud nine. She didn’t know if he remembered her but she was pretty sure he didn’t. He had millions of fans so how can he?

After her first encounter with him, she immediately searched for him right after he left Cafégroundz.

Then and there, she became an instant fangirl.

While she researched about Vhynce, every time she read something about him, she didn’t only want to die of embarrassment but she wanted to kill herself for being the stupidest person in the world to not know who he was.

Every girl in the world would die just to be in her place but there she was a clueless stupid girl who didn’t have a single idea who he was.

First of all, he’s known as Vinhelm. The only people who call him Vhynce were his friends, his close friends. The guts she had to call him by that name but can he blame her? He did introduce himself as Vhynce and not Vinhelm.

After all, everyone knew his full name – well not her until today – so there were still some fans that call him Vhynce.

Second, he wasn’t just a singer. He was a fucking rockstar. He was a fucking famous rockstar. By famous, she meant, he was known all over the world. He was like Justin Timberlake, Usher, or Adam Levine. He was that fucking famous. Who doesn’t know them? How stupid was she to not know him? She didn’t even find him familiar.

Where was she when everyone knew a man – she meant an angel– like Vhynce existed? She was probably living under a rock all her life.

Third, she found out that the reason why he sat with her, chat with her and gave her a bouquet and a cake a month ago. It was a yearly event that he does during Valentine’s Day.

She found out that every Valentine’s Day, there was one lucky girl – a random girl – who would get to spend time with him.

No one knew who it would be. Vhynce himself didn’t know who it would be either. He would visit a random place, a kind of place that not a lot of people visit and somewhere he hasn’t gone to. Once he got there, he would look around and sit with any girl. The only condition was she should be alone.

That day she was that lucky girl.

All the fans have tried their best to find the pattern but none of them was able to figure out how he chose them. Meahri tried but she wasn’t successful either.

One of them was a teenager who sat on a bus stop with earphones on. Another one was a woman in her early 30s who was reading a book in a small-unknown bookstore. Last year, it was a waitress who was on her lunch break at a small fast food chain in an alley.

There was indeed no pattern. All they knew was, he visited unusual places and all the girls were alone. That’s it and nothing else.

She was also able to find out that the reason why he told her that it was a first for him was because it was the first time he met someone who didn’t know who he was. Someone who didn’t pretend not to know him but someone who didn’t really know who he was.

Whenever she remembered it, she wanted to kill herself over and over again. It was too fucking embarrassing.

From all the girls that he chose for Valentine’s Day, all of them know who he was and if they didn’t, they at least knew him by name or at least by face. It seemed like Meahri was the first girl to not know who he was.

She also found out that Vhynce had a younger brother and that his family was living in Los Angeles. No one can confirm why they’re living there and why Vhynce was living in New York when he can live in any parts of the world due to his fame and money. There were rumors that he wasn’t in good terms with his family but there was no proof of it.

In just a month, she found out a lot of things about him. She even memorized all his songs and bought all his merchandise. Not to mention, she’d been to a couple of events too. She used all the money she saved from her allowance for her fangirl needs but it wasn’t enough.

Being a fangirl was
never
cheap.

That was one thing that every person should know before they join the crazy fanworld. She knew that she needed money so she decided to get a part-time job as a graphic artist.

While she was busy working on a project that was given to her by her boss, she felt someone tapped her on her shoulder. She checked who it was and it was her aunt Emilia.

She removed her earphones.

“Sweetie, dinner’s ready. Are you going to eat with us or you prefer eating later?” Emilia asked sweetly.

Everyone in the house knew that whenever she was busy with work or schoolwork, it’s a must that she won’t be disturbed by anyone. She
hated
it and no one was an exception to it. She meant,
no one.

“You guys go ahead and eat. I need to finish this. I’ll just eat later.” She smiled.

She knew her relatives always make an effort to call her whenever it’s time to eat. Sometimes she tried her best to just leave whatever she’s doing and eat with them but most of the times, she would appreciate it if they would just go ahead and eat. She didn’t want to waste their effort whenever she declined eating with them.

When she said she didn’t want to be disturbed whenever she was in the middle of work and that no one was an exception to that, she meant every word.

Sometimes she wished everyone in the world could be an artist even for a few seconds. With that, they would understand how frustrating and annoying it was when you’re disturbed while you’re in the middle of working on an artwork. Especially when you’re in the mood, your inspiration was overflowing and the momentum was there.

People needed to understand that once you’re disturbed even for a little bit, for a few seconds, everything would be ruined.

For artists, it’s not often that they get that and when they do, they make goddamn sure that they’d make the most of it. So whenever they get disturbed in such situation, you would definitely experience a bull’s rage.

In the past, there were instances wherein she wasn’t able to control it and ended up exploding. Everyone in their house experienced it and she felt bad for them. She knew it’s her fault but she can’t remove it in her. She was an artist. She was goddamn sure that other artists could relate to her too.

“Sure thing sweetie. Just heat up the food later before you eat, okay?” Her aunt reminded her.

“I will. Thank you.” She smiled and Emilia left the room.

When she was about to get back to her work, her phone beeped. It was a notification from Twitter. It was Vhynce.

For Meahri, it was a must to be notified whenever her rockstar updated. Not only she wanted to see the update immediately but also she wanted to make sure she’d reply to it as soon as possible. She wouldn’t want to miss another fantalk.

In the past, when she still didn’t receive notifications from Twitter, she always ended up missing Vhynce’s fantalks and it’s something she regretted. She finally learned her lesson although sometimes she also suffered for what she had done.

There were times when she’s busy with work, her phone vibrated nonstop and it was Vhynce hyper tweeting or hyper posting on his Instagram account. Times like those are the times she wanted to kill the man.

Her rockstar knew how to be a destruction – she meant distraction.

Vhynce tweet was an update on his Instagram account.

It was a photo of him inside the car. He pointed to Peter, his assistant, who was seated at the back seat. He was asleep with his mouth open. He was the same guy who gave Vhynce the bouquet and cake that was given to her last Valentine’s. She figured out that the big guy in black at Cafégroundz was indeed a bouncer. He was one of Vhynce’s bodyguards. She had seen him in a lot of backstage photos too.

His Instagram update was, ‘Always keep your mouth closed whenever you guys are sleeping so you wouldn’t be worried having a photo like this all over the Internet. ;) lol #PeterMySleepingAssistant’

She can’t help but smile. She was falling for her rockstar harder than she thought.

He was a rockstar and she was one of his millions fangirls.

She shouldn’t be in love with him for real, right?

Rockstars and fangirls were never possible. It would never work out. It was the truth and she knew that. Still, she found herself fall for him deeper as she knew him more.

**********

5 months later.

Meahri was having dinner with other fangirls - who was lucky to get a ticket to Vhynce’s birthday party - while they waited for the birthday boy. She didn’t have any close friends but Vhynce’s fans were familiar with her because of her outstanding shots.

Ever since she became a fan of Vhynce, she made sure to take photos in every event. She didn’t expect to get attention from it since she simply wanted to share Vhynce’s photos with other fans that weren’t able to go to the events. But she did.

“Hey Secret.” The girl beside her called out.

“Yeah?” Meahri replied.

In the first few weeks in the fanworld, she never responded to people who called her Secret but as time passed by, she got used to it and eventually, she was known for that name.

In the real world, she was known as Meahri Lyfheld but in the fanworld, she was Secret.
