18. James IV's body was brought to the Observant Friars at Sheen, and (with papal permission) buried there. At the Reformation, the House was dissolved and the body, encased in lead, removed as a souvenir. It was dumped in a lumber room, where 'workmen there for their foolish pleasure hewed off his head':
