The good living with the gang had made her healthy. It had taken away the haunted, frightened, lost look from her eyes, and her luscious body was a bit curvier, too. He attributed it to good food. The guys made it a point to make sure she ate as much healthy food as they could get into her. Most of the time they refused to eat themselves until she ate a good portion of a meal. That blackmail always worked.

She’d been too thin and frail when they’d taken her into the gang from that pleasure house where she’d forced herself to work at. Within two weeks of being with the gang full-time though, she’d started to look womanlier and less stick-thin, starving girl. Yeah, he liked the look of more meat on her frame. She looked real good standing there panting from the rough, quick sex.

When she turned to face him, he didn’t miss her slightly parted lips, the sounds of her excited pants as she stared at him with twinkling blue-gray eyes. He lowered his gaze and moaned softly at the sight of her swollen breasts and her reddened nipples, pert and proudly erect from the stimulation of the rocks. He knew she wanted to go for another round. So did he.

The erotic sight of her, standing there, her mouth swollen and red from his kisses, the sensual way her eyes were glazed from the sex, had him feeling crazy to get into her again.

Going totally instinctual, he moved in front of her and loved the surprised widening of her eyes as he tenderly pushed her back against that rock surface. Bending his head, he took her mouth in a furious kiss that told her she should make no mistake that he was about to fuck her again. Thinking she belonged to him and the rest of the gang sent a shaft of pleasure deep inside his bones.

He splayed his hands onto her waist, and she in turn curled her arms around his neck, dragging him deeper into the intoxicating kiss. He thrust into her wet vagina, his cock sliding in so deep, he swore he’d never been so far inside of her. He groaned as her vaginal muscles tightened around his shaft and sucked in a hot breath at the taut feel of her satiny, damp pussy muscles clenching his cock.

For a split second, a warning snapped through his mind. A warning that told him he’d forgotten something, but the sexy noises of her continued moans and whimpers snatched the warning away. He became lost in those erotic sounds she made. He answered with his groans, his primal side telling her she belonged to him at this moment. Not anyone else. Just him.

She arched herself against him, her hips gyrating, her pussy clenching tighter as she moved in such a sensual rhythm that he couldn’t stop his thrusting even if he’d wanted to. And he didn’t want to. She was so damn lovely. His awareness of her was too damned good.

He felt heady. Drunk on those carnal sounds she made. He thrust harder and lost himself in the arousal. He strained to get further inside of her and thrust deeper. He felt her pussy clench and heard her cry out as she exploded.

In a painful lightning-quick discharge, he released himself into her.

Yeah, she belongs to you now
, some devilish voice echoed in the back of his mind as he spilled his seed.

She will belong to you. Forever.

Eve winced as her sensitive nipples chafed painfully against the tight clothing she wore. Not for a moment did she regret the unprotected sex with Kayne. After their sex session, he’d been unusually silent as they’d sat together on a nearby boulder and he’d shared his rations of hardtack with her for breakfast. She’d wanted to ask him why he was so quiet but thought better of it. The last thing she wanted was to be a nosy woman.

If something were on his mind, then he’d have to open up and tell her about it. His quietness had continued again after Maddox showed up to take over lookout duty for Kayne. Maddox hadn’t commented on finding Eve with Kayne. Hadn’t said anything about her being wrapped in nothing but a blanket either. Or that her neck had one mother of a hickey on it, if the heated sore area she felt were an indication.

It was normal for her to be shared. However, she noticed Maddox was tensed up, too, probably thinking about the all-night ride ahead of them.

After saying their good-byes, Kayne and she had trudged up the rocky trail back to the seclusion of their camp hidden in the craggy pine trees to find Riley awake and cracking eggs onto a skillet placed over a small, virtually smokeless campfire. When he’d seen them arriving with her attire, he’d grinned like a Cheshire cat, commenting on how good she looked in a blanket and boots and one gorgeous hickey.

Riley enjoyed sex, and he’d told her many times that if he had his way, he’d be fucking her twenty-four-seven. And she always joked back, if she had her way, she’d want him to do just that.

To further her teasing, she’d given him a quick peek at her body, flashing her blanket open at him and closing it again. She wondered if he’d noticed her red, swollen nipples. If he did, he didn’t comment. She liked the look of arousal that flared in his dark brown eyes whenever he looked at her. Liked it even more when he slapped some extra butter onto the skillet and cracked a couple more eggs for her. Kayne’s hardtack had taken away her hunger, but with the scent of sizzling bacon and eggs sifting through the air, she’d suddenly felt famished.

She was just as hungry hours later as she waited at the grayness of dawn, white mist curling along the back alleyway of the bank in the small town. She held the reins of their horses while she waited for the three men to return. The Durango Gang had heard rumors about a bank that housed an abundance of gold bars that belonged to the Wolfe Gang. They were a new rival gang that had entered the Durango Gang’s territory several months ago. Kayne wanted those gold bars, and for weeks they’d scouted out all escape routes from town. They knew they wouldn’t be able to carry all of the gold on horseback, so they were just going to take what they could and run.

This morning, the four of them had waited patiently, seated on their mounts in the cold breeze behind a clump of trees, just outside of town, waiting for the mist to thicken so they could use it for cover. Then they’d ridden into town via a side street.

Now as she stood here in the alleyway, the mist began to lift, and despair clenched her insides. She hoped no one looked out a window and spied her standing here with horses. They’d most certainly get suspicious and call out an alarm.

According to Kayne’s investigations, the bank had never been robbed, and hopefully Wolfe wouldn’t be expecting anything.

A good offense was the best defense, Riley always liked to say. Riley was their locksmith. He could quietly crack a lock within seconds. He could blow a lock up with explosives even faster. She hadn’t asked him where he’d acquired those talents, but she’d heard Maddox tease him once about Riley learning everything from an older brother who’d done some serious jail time for armed bank robbery in the days before the Catastrophe. There had been mention that Riley had no idea if his brother had survived the Catastrophe or not.

So far she hadn’t heard any gunshots. No noise was a good sign. Their many stakeouts of the town showed the Wolfe Gang usually left town on weekends to do their robbery jobs. This was Sunday morning, so the Wolfe Gang should be out of town.

She didn’t feel bad about robbing the Wolfe Gang or stealing from the rich, because most of what the Durango Gang stole went to those less fortunate. Went to those people who didn’t have the cutthroat attitude it took these days to survive. Unfortunately, she didn’t have that kind of attitude either and would probably be dead or would have killed herself had the Durango Gang not purchased her from the pleasure house when they had.

In her hip holster, she felt the heavy gun, but she didn’t feel comforted by it. She knew she wasn’t the greatest shot. Yeah, the guys had taught her how to shoot, but their shooting sessions had always turned into sex sessions. They’d always said she looked sexy holding a gun, and target practice ended up with her being the target and usually being triple penetrated. So, without enough of the shooting practice, she just didn’t feel comfortable with a gun in her hand.

She did kind of like her sore nipples though. After the guys robbed the bank and they got the heck out of town, she was going to make sure she had two guys sucking her tender nipples and another one of her men fucking her. She couldn’t help but grin to herself at the thought of looking down to watch two men at her breasts, their succulent mouths latched on to each of her nipples. That erotic sight was always so breathtaking, not to mention how wonderful their mouths felt.

Her smile widened when she remembered how awesomely sensitive her nipples had felt later on in the day yesterday. They had ached to the point where she’d actually asked Maddox, a paramedic before the Catastrophe and now their gang doctor, for some of that comfrey salve he liked to make to soothe injuries. After asking her what she wanted the salve for, she’d point-blank told him the truth. That her nipples were killing her after a rough bout of sex with Kayne.

He’d split a wonderful grin, flashing her even white teeth in a gorgeous smile that she couldn’t help but inhale sharply at how erotic his amused grin made her feel. He’d given her a small jar of the ointment, saying when they finished the bank job and evaded the posse, he wanted to see how good his product was working.

Eve was so deeply fixated in her thoughts that she didn’t detect movement or hear the soft footsteps until the intruder was almost upon her. Her hand sailed for her gun, and at the same time, she turned and came face-to-face with the wood-hard butt end of a rifle.

Pain cracked against her left temple, and a shower of silver sparks exploded behind her eyes. She tried to cry out a warning to the guys, but her mouth wouldn’t cooperate. Neither would her legs. Suddenly she found herself lying on the ground staring stupidly at several pairs of prancing horse hooves. Then everything went black.

Chapter Two

“Are you sure you won’t come the rest of the way with me? My instincts tell me you can trust them, C.J.,” Eve asked her friend for the fifth time in as many minutes as she embraced C.J’s thin frame for one final good-bye hug.

“No, I’m sorry, sweetie. You’ll have to do this on your own,” C.J. mumbled against Eve’s hair as she hugged Eve so fiercely she feared her friend would crush her ribs. “But I’m going to miss you like crazy, Eve. Now go. Don’t look back. Never look back. Just go forward. Find your men.”

Emotions, thick and raw, blistered through Eve. As C.J. let go of her, Eve felt the cold wind sweep deep into her soul, and she wondered if she would ever be warm again.

Although C.J.’s face was mostly covered behind scarves that kept her tender scars from hurting, Eve could see tears in her friend’s dark brown eyes and couldn’t stop the cry of anguish from escaping her chest as C.J. pulled down one of her scarves and threw her a wobbly grin. Then C.J. turned and hoisted herself easily onto her horse.

Eve sensed she was losing a good friend, probably forever. She knew C.J. might disappear from the small cabin they’d been sharing, making sure Eve would never find her. C.J. hated men with a passion, and it had been hard for Eve to choose between remaining with the woman who’d saved her life a couple of years ago after Eve had been kidnapped and lost her memory or finding the three men who were now haunting her quickly returning memories.

They’d been men she’d forgotten, until recently. Men, who, it seemed, she’d once been in love with, if the raw physical pain of their absence was an indication.

“Will I ever see you again?” she shouted into the early morning wind as C.J. stared down at her with a forlorn look to her eyes. Her friend bit her bottom lip but didn’t answer.

Oh God
.
Was C.J. going to disappear on her?

An urgency like she’d never experienced before swept through her, and she couldn’t help but take the pleading route.

“Trust me, C.J. Can you do that? Trust
me
. I promise you that I won’t bring them back with me when I come to visit or maybe even stay with you again if things don’t work out with them. Can you trust
me
?”

Again the woman shrugged her shoulders.

Shit
.

“I don’t want to lose your friendship, C.J.,” she confessed.

To Eve’s surprise, C.J.’s eyes twinkled, and she blessed Eve with a lovely smile. She lifted her gloved hand and placed it over her heart. “You won’t lose me, sweetie. You’ll always be here. Now go. You need to ride like the wind and get there before the sun goes down.”

“What if they aren’t there?” Eve called out, stalling the inevitable.

“I told you. I saw three sets of tracks. Trust me, they’re there.”

“But how do you know it’s them?”

“I just do. Now go,” C.J. shouted as another slash of wind whipped past them, a tinge of impatience ringing in her voice. She nodded her head toward the gushing green-blue-colored glacial river that would lead Eve to her destiny. Or at least she hoped. “Follow that river until you see the mountainside you described to me. Follow your instincts from there and you will find them. Trust
me
.”

Eve turned to gaze up the raging river and bit her bottom lip. Maybe she shouldn’t go after those men. She’d barely begun to remember them. They may not want her to be around them. They may not want to help her remember everything. For all she knew they’d gone on without her, maybe even replacing her?
