“You need to stop allowing them to kick your ass!”
Harlow gave a lady-like snort. “If I could do something about it, I would.”
“I can!”
“No,” she reached for Remy, evoking a wince at the pain the movement caused.
“Damn it,” Remy had her up in his arms before she could even blink. He stalked with her to the bed and gently lowered her. “I’m done letting you get pushed around to prove yourself. I…”
“Please, Remy,” her voice was soft, her tone imploring. “If the guys think I’ve complained or came to you to seek protection,” she chewed her bottom lip and dropped her gaze.
“What?”
“Things’ll only get worse.”
“Worse than this?” he boomed. “Look at you, Harlow! You can barely fucking move!”
“I’m okay,” she lied. “Just a few sore muscles is all. I’m a quick healer.”
“No. You’re not! I kept you off the Walker team because I didn’t want any of them attempting to claim you, but these fucking humans are cowards!”
Delicate brows knitted in confusion. “Claim me?”
“Never mind. As of right now, you’re being reassigned to my team.”
“No way! They’ll think I asked to be reassigned, they’ll see it as a sign of weakness, and…”
His ferocious growl silenced her. Leaning in until his nose nearly touched hers, she could see his dark eyes sparking with fury. “And I don’t a give shit!” He paced to the door and stopped long enough to jab a finger in her direction, “Stay here!”
“Remy!” She hopped off the bed, but her wobbly legs instantly gave out and she would have crashed to the floor if Remy hadn’t lunged for her. He caught her before she went down and swept her back up into his arms, a low growl rumbling in his chest.
“Which one of them did this?” Instead of placing her back on the bed he sat with her on his lap.
“N-no one. It was just training.”
He scented her lie and it enraged him. Someone had intentionally injured her and he was going to find out who it was and kill the bastard.
About the Author
My pack territory is in Central Montana, between Stone Crow estates and the North Fortress. Born and raised in an untamed location that bridges the gap between rolling prairies and majestic mountain peaks, I am born to a family that also bridges the gap between cultures. My father’s people boast a fiercely proud Scottish ancestry while my mother’s tribes descend from two savagely beautiful and unique nations that inspire my Skin Walkers series.
I'm a huge fan of MMA, boxing, hockey, 30 Seconds to Mars, the Killers, and 21 Pilots (“sometimes quiet is violent”). I also love to read because it encourages me to write. (I hate it when authors add that they love coffee and chocolate. Really? Who doesn't love coffee and chocolate?) Anyway, I love beer...kidding. I don't
love
beer but we are engaged in a very serious relationship. (Mom, please don't call me when you read this.)
Thank you to my Stalkers for always sticking with me and giving me mad support. I never thought I’d be here and I owe it all to you.
