They released each other at the same time, and she searched his eyes for what to do next. He answered by removing his shirt, and the rest of his clothing, never taking his eyes off hers. She stood, shocked, mesmerized by the sheer perfection of his sculpted body. He backed up into the shower stall and turned the water on hot. . She peeled away her T-shirt caked with ash. She squirmed out of jeans grayed by Pablo’s bones. And she walked through the shower’s stream right into Synn’s awaiting arms.

They sighed in unison while clinging to each other for a while. He stepped back from her and tried to use his voice. He still sounded froggy. “Would you give me the honor and allow me to wash you?”

She blinked and swallowed, and answered him immediately with a hushed voice of her own. “Yes.”

His eyes shone a sultry gold as he poured shampoo in to his hand and massaged it into her scalp. She leaned her head to rinse and he continued his ministrations. He used bath wash on a sponge, and turning her back to face him, started with her neck and shoulders and worked his way down her spine to her waist, and her thighs and calves. With every swirl he made, she moaned her pleasure. He guided her under the hot rain to rinse, then spun her around to face him, starting all over again. But this time was so very different.

He foamed up the puff and squeezed it over her breasts. Back under the stream she went, and he leaned in to lick and suckle each one. She closed her eyes in ecstasy and grabbed at the safety handle for purchase as he moved his work lower and lower. He brought her so close the brink, but refused to let her go over the edge.

“Synn, dear God, you are evil in the best way.”

He stood up and his gaze spoke of vulnerability and insecurity. “Would you call me Jax? I want you to know who’s with you right now.”

“I’ll call you JaxSynn. I accept you for who you were, and who you are, and who you choose to be.”

He kissed her gently, and when he pulled away, she noticed his cheeks were wet with tears. She decided it was time to change things up on him to show him how she really felt about him. “Now it’s my turn.” She washed his hair and lathered him up with her hands, kneading the bunched muscles in his shoulders and ass.

He grabbed hold of the wall as she licked and nipped and kissed her way down across his swirly blue abs to his mark, lingering there to pay special attention. Two could play at this game, she thought, and teased him mercilessly until he pulled her up to his level and consumed her lips.

All clean, there was no more to be done that couldn’t be done out of water. If Satan had wanted to reach her, he could have done so by now. She turned it off, and not bothering with towels, led him to her bedroom. Who would be making love with her? Man or demon? Or both? All three appealed to her as their passion play slammed them up against the door, tangled them on the bed, and rolled them onto the floor to come to a dazed halt with her on top.

With her hair cascading down around them, she looked down, marveling at the man beneath her. Sweat beaded his brow and a flush colored his dimpled cheeks. So much passion, and all of it directed toward her. “I love the way you look right now.”

“Oh, you do?” He raised a brow and twirled a ringlet of her hair on his finger, then let it go. “How exactly do I look?”

“The way every woman wants a man to look at a time like this. Passionate, involved, as though the world doesn’t exist outside the two of us.”

“It doesn’t.” He stroked her hair and cupped her face in his hands. “It’s just you and me and the magic we’re creating right here, right now.” He surprised her by switching their positions, nipping her shoulder and soothing it with a kiss. Lightly scraping his teeth against her neck, he kissed her there, too. “Create magic with me, Camille.”

Ecstasy hit hard as he didn’t wait for a response, but entered her, slowly at first, filling a void in her soul that made her cry out. She held fast to him as he quickened the pace, moaning deeply when he nuzzled her ear and fiercely whispered her name. Stars. She could have sworn she saw them as they climaxed together.

After dragging themselves back to the bed, they collapsed into each other’s arms, continuing to kiss and touch as though nothing would sate their hunger. Had she been like Mallory, she could’ve smoked a whole pack of cigarettes. But gladly, she wasn’t, and chose to nestle closer in his arms for the next few hours in bliss. Complete satisfaction, utopia, a dream come true. Those kinds of phrases flitted through her mind as she tried to qualify her feelings.

The sun washed over her face in just the right way to create a fiery scene against her lids. She groaned and turned to spoon within JaxSynn’s arms. But as usual, once awake, she was awake for the long haul. She quietly removed herself from the bed, with only the slightest grumble from the snoring lump next to her. Throwing on a robe, she walked out to survey the dusty damage to the living room. Remnants of her first demon kill coated every surface. She sighed, not looking forward to cleaning up the ashen guts of someone JaxSynn had called friend.

Out to the back porch, she turned up her collar. It was a breezy morning, ushering in slightly cooler temperatures. A taste of fall, perhaps. The sun’s rays found their way through the bending branches, making a spectacular shadow play on the grass. Between the air and the sun changing the nature of things, they prompted her thoughts to reflect on her own metamorphosis. A sudden gust captured her hair and whipped it about her face, reminding her of the late night frenzied lovemaking. It too, ripped open the slit in her robe, revealing the satanic marks on her legs. It was then she knew who she’d become.

I am The Book Waitress—a demon hunter, a demon slayer, and a demon’s lover.
