“And what about what people will say about our relationship?”
“What about it?” Jared said, shrugging flippantly. “We’re not breaking
any laws. As far as I can see, people can think whatever the hell they want.”
“We’ll keep it low for now, if you want,” Cole added. “I know you might
be concerned about it in light of the type of job you do, but as Jared said,
we’re really not breaking any laws.”
Julie had to admit that the thought of her coworkers and the parents of
her students finding out that she was in a ménage relationship was a little
daunting, but there was really no law against it and there was no way anyone
could say she was less of a teacher because of it. She wanted this, it was
literally a dream come true. Living the past few weeks without Cole in their
lives had been really hard and she didn’t even want to contemplate having to do
that again.
“I love you, Jules,” Cole’s low baritone pulled her back to the present.
“I hope you know that.”
Julie placed her hand over the ring on her chest and nodded slowly,
tears gathering in her eyes. “Yes, I know. I love you too, Cole.”
“Then that’s all that matters.” Leaning forward, he pressed his lips to
hers in a slow, sweet kiss, at the same time Jared’s hand slid over hers to
give her a reassuring squeeze.
Yes, she thought, nothing else really mattered after all.
