Malachi 1:1–2:17

1
The burden of the word of the L
ORD
to Israel by Malachi.

2
I have loved you, saith the L
ORD
.

Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us?

Was
not Esau Jacob's brother? saith the L
ORD
: yet I loved Jacob,
3
and I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

4
Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places.

Thus saith the Lord of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the L
ORD
hath indignation for ever.
5
And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The L
ORD
will be magnified from the border of Israel.

6
 A son honoureth
his
father, and a servant his master: if then I
be
a father, where
is
mine honour? and if I
be
a master, where
is
my fear? saith the L
ORD
of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name.

And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?

7
Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar.

And ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee?

In that ye say, The table of the L
ORD
is
contemptible.
8
And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice,
is it
not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick,
is it
not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the L
ORD
of hosts.

9
And now, I pray you, beseech God that he will be gracious unto us: this hath been by your means: will he regard your persons? saith the L
ORD
of hosts.

10
 Who
is there
even among you that would shut the doors
for nought?
neither do ye kindle
fire
on mine altar for nought. I have no pleasure in you, saith the L
ORD
of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.
11
For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name
shall be
great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense
shall be
offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name
shall be
great among the heathen, saith the L
ORD
of hosts.
12
But ye have profaned it, in that ye say, The table of the L
ORD
is
polluted; and the fruit thereof,
even
his meat,
is
contemptible.
13
Ye said also, Behold, what a weariness
is it!
and ye have snuffed at it, saith the L
ORD
of hosts; and ye brought
that which was
torn, and the lame, and the sick; thus ye brought an offering: should I accept this of your hand? saith the L
ORD
.
14
 But cursed
be
the deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto the L
ORD
a corrupt thing: for I
am
a great King, saith the L
ORD
of hosts, and my name
is
dreadful among the heathen.

2:
1
And now, O ye priests, this commandment
is
for you.
2
If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay
it
to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the L
ORD
of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay
it
to heart.
3
Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces,
even
the dung of your solemn feasts; and
one
shall take you away with it.
4
And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the L
ORD
of hosts.

5
My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him
for
the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name.
6
The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.
7
For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he
is
the messenger of the L
ORD
of hosts.
8
But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the L
ORD
of hosts.
9
Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law.

10
Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?
11
Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the L
ORD
which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.
12
 The L
ORD
will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the L
ORD
of hosts.

13
And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the L
ORD
with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth
it
with good will at your hand.
14
Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the L
ORD
hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet
is
she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.
15
And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.
16
 For the L
ORD
, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for
one
covereth violence with his garment, saith the L
ORD
of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.

17
 Ye have wearied the L
ORD
with your words.

Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied
him?

When ye say, Every one that doeth evil
is
good in the sight of the L
ORD
, and he delighteth in them; or, Where
is
the God of judgment?

Revelation 21:1-27

1
And I [John] saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God
is
with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them,
and be
their God.
4
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

5
And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

6
And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

9
And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.

10
And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
11
having the glory of God: and her light
was
like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
12
and had a wall great and high,
and
had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are
the names
of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
13
on the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.
14
And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

15
And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.
16
And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
17
And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred
and
forty
and
four cubits,
according to
the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.

18
And the building of the wall of it was
of
jasper: and the city
was
pure gold, like unto clear glass.
19
And the foundations of the wall of the city
were
garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation
was
jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;
20
the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.

21
 And the twelve gates
were
twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city
was
pure gold, as it were transparent glass.

22
And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
23
And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb
is
the light thereof.
24
And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
25
And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
26
And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.
27
And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither
whatsoever
worketh abomination, or
maketh
a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Psalm 149:1-9

1
 Praise ye the L
ORD
. Sing unto the L
ORD
a new song,
and
his praise in the congregation of saints.

2
Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.

3
Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.

4
 For the L
ORD
taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.

5
Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.

6

Let
the high
praises
of God
be
in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand;

7
To execute vengeance upon the heathen,
and
punishments upon the people;

8
 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;

9
To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the L
ORD
.
