"Jake?"
"I love you Vivian, I do love you baby, I do. And I - sometimes, I'm disgusted at some of the people of my race, they make me ashamed. They make me hate that I'm white sometimes, I swear to God. Because not all of us, are - fuckin' evil - we're not." Tears were rolling from his eyes.
"Oh baby, ohhh Jake - I know that baby, I know that, you don't have to tell me that."
"I do have to tell you that, because baby, some of us, are not to be trusted, you understand? Unless it's one of my brother's, my father, my sisters, my mother, fuck the rest!"
"Your sons?" She smiled.
"Oh yeah, I think they're okay too." He smiled, sniffed, wiping at his eyes.
"Come on, lay back down, you have to get up early." She coaxed gently.
He laid back, pulling her into his arms once more, his fingertips smoothing her brow, and moving deliberately to her hair, feeling it's texture, the curls that he loved, as if absorbing the fact that this woman, from the top of her head of hair, to the bottom of her feet, was going to be his wife. And if it was the last thing he did on earth, he would sing her praises, he would shout to the world, the white world, why this white man, loved this incredible black woman, and he didn't give a damn who of them didn't like it.

The next morning...
True to his word, he made love to her again. Riding her gently, carefully, his long body leaning over her, his pelvic thrusts, slow, deliberate, measured as he penetrated her. Vivian lay beneath him, her legs spread to him, taking him as he gave, and because of the long slow stroking pulling at her tight walls, stirring her deep from within, she couldn't fight back the climax that soon burst within her. Not long after, Jake struggled not to sink deep into her, but Vivian closed her legs around him, put her head back and folded them around him forcing him deep, making him explode and sink even further. She took him deep because she loved him too much not to. Spent, he lay down upon her, kissing her face, her brow, her cheeks, down to her ear, whispering, "I better get up, shower."
"I best start getting used to getting up, fixing my man his breakfast, you gonna be working every Saturday?"
"Everyone I can, got bills to pay, a house to finish, a woman to keep."
"Betta' be talkin' about me." She warned, grinning. He chuckled, "Hell, I barely make enough to keep you, let alone another."
"In that case, I need to keep you in the poor house."
"That, or I need to find a woman who can keep us both." He teased leaping out of the bed before she could hit him, laughing and rushing naked into the shower downstairs.
Vivian sat up, shaking her head, looking for her robe, she put it on, and went into the bathroom behind him, using it. "Don't you dare flush that toilet, lil'girl!"
He sounded so back to his old self, that Vivian was tempted, saying instead, "What if I took a shit?"
"Vivian! That's not lady like, besides, you so snooty, I didn't think you'd allow shit to pass through that uppity ass!"
"Hey! You calling me an uppity negro?!" She demanded, with her hand on the flusher.
Jake peaked out of the shower, looking at her, then down at her hand, the threat clear, he grinned, and started laughing, "Be nice now... aren't you supposed to be fixing my breakfast?"
"Maybe, I'm still thinking about it."
He looked at her a moment, "I didn't mean uppity in a bad way Vivian." She realized he was back to being serious again, searching her eyes.
She immediately moved her hand, "Baby, I know that, I'm just playing with you. Look, you can flush it when you come out." She put the lid down and washed her hands.
"YEA-OOOUUU! That's cold!"
"Oh I'm so sorry!" She started laughing, "Might as well flush the toilet now!" And did, "Breakfast coming up!" She laughed, running out of the door as he threatened to come out after her, now that he had to wait for the water pressure to return.
Sitting and eating, he promised, "I will take you by the house as soon as I'm off work, now don't cheat, and let Shanna take you there. Don't cheat and let Paul take you there. I will take you there, understand?"
"What time are you going to work until?"
"Just half the day, I'll be home by one thirty, promise."
"So what you expect me to do all morning?"
"Unload the truck by Shanna's, put your stuff away. That'll keep you busy a while. Call my parents, let them know you're here. Call Sylvia in L.A. tell them you're here, and to stay! And fix me something to eat, I'll be hungry by the time I get home since I'll be skipping lunch."
"Yes sir!" She saluted.
"But get back to bed first, sleep late, that'll eat up the morning until eleven." He finished eating, used the kitchen towel to wipe his hands, heading for the sink where he stood and downed three tall glasses of water. Belching and then, grabbing the keys off the hook for the motorcycle that was locked away at the lumber yard, he headed for the door. Vivian followed him there. He turned, grabbed her to him with his hand to her lower back, giving her a big kiss, a squeeze to her bottom and was off.
Vivian stood at the door, watching him leave, smiling she thought, "I could probably get used to this."

Morning in Madison...
The house was once more a beehive of activity. The kids were ordered to pack enough clothing for the summer. Sasha and Shawn2 dug in their heals, had to be yelled at more than a few times. The plan was for Meribel and the kids to go on up to his folks house, while he stayed behind long enough to see to the alarms being installed. However, before Meribel would leave, everything had to be done for him so that he had plenty to eat before they left.
"Meri, I can easily get myself take out." Derrick reminded her.
"That's not healthy, don't worry papi, I'll pick up enough food just for you, to last until Tuesday, and then, what's left, toss it." She stated before she was to leave for the store, giving the kids more time to pack. Sasha heard she was going to the store, "Can I go with you mami, please?"
"You're supposed to be packing!" Meribel reminded her, still trying to get dressed, fixing her hair and face.
"Come on mami, I don't have much to pack, I'm almost done."
"I want you done, mi ha, not almost done!" She commanded, standing in her bathroom mirror.
Sasha stood doing a shake tantrum while her father was on the phone with his mother, he walked out of the bedroom so he could hear her.
"I've got all the rooms cleaned up, fresh sheets and the like, and there's nothing I need so tell my Meri come on up here, she needs to get away from there. You gonna be all right there on your own?" Gert asked.
"I'm a big boy mom, I'm sure I'll be fine, just wanted to make sure it was okay for them to come on today."
"It'll be just fine, Jakes supposed to be back home with Vivian; oh I'm so excited, gonna have all my girls here, all except that sister of yours. You still heard nothing from her?"
"I haven't heard a thing mom, but I'm sure she's fine. No doubt, she's out finding herself, something like that."
"Well the least she could do is call us. She's got your father in a right state, I can tell you that right now, pacing the floor, staring into space, it's not called for."
"Mom, we just have to wait until we hear from her, simple as that. Look, I have to go, just checking to make sure all is still a go."
"All right, talk to you later."
Derrick hung up, walking back into this room, "Mom says all is well and ready. Meri, I'll be fine, I'd rather you just got on the road, I can get by the store."
"When have you ever had to shop for food? Besides that, I need to get some food for the kids, while at your moms, I'm not stopping on the way."
"Meribel, the kids will be fine - it's only a two and a half hour drive."
"Mami, please let me gooo, I'll be good, I promise! All my stuff is packed all for a few things."
"Okay mi ha, good grief!" Meribel walked by her boys room calling out, when I get back from the store, everything better be ready to go, understand? Where is Shawn2?"
He was across the alley, at the Clarke's speaking with Ma'Keiba who had come out just to take the garbage out.
"Boy you are so determined to get me in trouble, what are you doing here?"
"I thought you'd want me to come and say goodbye to you, we're leaving!"
"Oh, when?"
"Soon as my mom comes back from the store! See, I should have just left and said nothing."
"I wouldn't care if you did."
"You mean." He commented, running out of patience with her, after all, there were girls that wanted him to be their boyfriend.
"Then gone somewhere and leave me alone then!" She grumped, rolling her eyes at him as she did the head thing.
"I was gonna give you a kiss goodbye, now-.. Ooop!" Shawn2 went to duck down feeling his father's big hand clamp down around the back of his neck.
"I swear to god sometimes, I could just break it!" Derrick bit out, holding his son's neck in a tight grip.
"We'll be going now Ma'Keiba, you stay mean now, you hear?"
She smiled, "Yes sir Mr. McPherson." She returned, fighting back laughter at Shawn2 as his father took one swipe at his head, that he tried to duck and then another. Both licks landed right on the money. Derrick walked his son back into the house with Meribel standing there, "See! Cannot be trusted for even a moment! Derrick, make him get his things packed!" She fussed as Shawn2's brothers cracked up laughing at him. Derrick sent him flying towards the stairs with a shove, "Next time, I swear, you're gonna experience my boot up your ass! Stay away from that little girl!"
"He'll be fine once we get to your parents, he can't sneak off to see her from there." She assured him, turning she was looking for Sasha.
"She's already in the car." Derrick told her.
"I should have known, okay papi, we won't be long, I promise."
"The boys will be ready when you get back."
"They better be, I wanna get on the road." Meribel was out the door, and climbing into the van, where Sasha sat waiting, all buckled up.
She backed out of the drive way, corrected the van and rode off towards the store. She never saw the car that pulled away from the curb, further down that had been parked and watching them, stalking them all night and morning.

L. A...
It was packing day, cleaning day at the condo. Sylvia was getting the house cleaned tip top before they left it that evening. Shawn was gone already, he and the boys to say goodbye to King Louie and to also go by Mama JoJo's to check on her, leave her a set of keys to the condo and instructions on how to turn off the alarm before she went in.
She and the girls, worked around the house, happy not to have the boys right under their feet, glad that Shawn had taken the little ones as well.
As they dusted, washed laundry so that everything that was packed would be clean, the phone rang. Sylvia answered it, "Hello?"
"Hey you, guess who this is and guess where I am?"
"Vivian? Hey baby girl, so where are you?"
"At your place, talking to you on your phone, long distance!" She busted up laughing, "Found the number in the book."
"Hey hey hey! You there now for good?" Sylvia cheesed, so excited she couldn't wait now to get home.
"He picked me up from Chicago last night, brought me right here, hope you don't mind?"
"Gurl who you talkin' to like that?! You know better, my home is your home! Oh I'm so happy, have you seen the house yet?"
"No! He won't let me see it yet, he's at work, after he gets off, he'll take me by there, you seen it?"
"Yes I have."
"You like it?"
"Vivian, I love it. When he's done with that house, it is going to be out of sight. It's perfect for your taste and style. Now, it's not much to look at today, but don't worry about that, think about what it's going to look like when he's done."
"Look at you giving him props and praise, what's up with that?"
"When he wrong, I give'em hell, when he right, he right all the way. Choosing that home, doing what he's doing, personally, I feel he's right all the way. Give him time on it, I think you will agree, it's the bomb, I'm just worried you won't like it now, but you don't have to live in it until it's done."
"It's that bad huh?"
"It's that old, it needs a lot doing to it, but he's capable."
"Thank you for that, giving him props, he needs that when it's given. Wait until you get home and I tell you what happened last night on the way."
"What happened, tell me now."
Vivian went into it play by play, until finally Sylvia was shaking her head, "Ah shit, now see, I should have known he would be like that, if Shawn is. Girl you better pray - because everything Shawn does, Jake must do and better, which means only one thing, every time you turn around, he gone have his foot deep into somebody's ass! You hear me."
"You think so? Is Shawn like that?"
"Look, you gone be living with his brother, I wish you the best, but now, you will see what it's like to be in my shoes, because baby, these men, do not play. You talked to Sheila yet this morning?"
"Not yet, I called you first."
Sylvia smiled, "Thank you, I'll be bragging that on her."
Vivian started laughing, "Don't be mean now, see ya'll ain't gone have me in the middle tugga warin'!"
Sylvia kept laughing, "You best hang up and call her right away, you know how she is. I'll be saving this tidbit for when I need to blackmail something out'ah you."
"See, negroes ain't no good and can't be trusted. Sylvia you aught'ah be ashamed of yourself, let me call her, I see now, I'm gone have to confess it myself, ya'll ain't gone be stressin' me now!" She was grinnin' when she said it. "Love you sis, see you when ya'll get home."
"Kay, see you when we get there, love you!"
Sylvia hung up laughing. Soon, she was back in the thick of it, all the cases were out, lined up to put the clean laundry in as it was folded from the dryer. In a few hours, Shawn and the boys returned with Chinese food because Shawn knew she wouldn't want to be cooking. As they were sitting down to eat, the phone rang again, this time Shawn answered it, "Hello?"
