SS:
Plus, statins suppress testosterone.
RB:
And deplete coQ
10
. Did you know that every cell in your body is absolutely dependent on coQ
10
? So when a statin suppresses coQ
10
, a person can go into heart failure. It has been proposed in research that the widespread use of statins is responsible for the dramatic increase in heart failure cases over the past twenty years. The brain, one of the most metabolically active tissues, is also highly dependent on coQ
10
, and this explains why we are seeing more cases of an amnesia-like syndrome in people on these drugs.
SS:
All for taking a drug that is supposed to prevent heart failure???
RB:
Crazy, isn’t it? One of the big problems with taking a statin is that patients complain of having no energy. Some can’t even get out of bed. And then there is the potentially fatal disease rhabdomyolysis, which has been linked to statin use. Studies have shown that even short of this syndrome, statins are associated with pathological damage to muscle fibers.
SS:
Rhabdomyolysis?
RB:
Yes. It’s a disease of the destruction of the muscle and it’s fatal. Many patients who were on statins and did not take coQ
10
died.
SS:
What do statins do to the brain? I have friends on statins who can’t remember the conversation we had the night before.
RB:
If you look at the research on physiology on the effect of lowering brain cholesterol, it shows that you lose memory. Some people are proud of having excessively low cholesterol, as in 150 or lower. The brain can’t function at that low level. Even in studies that physicians quote to support statin use, evidence shows that at that extremely low cholesterol level you increase death rates from brain hemorrhages. The cholesterol theory is badly flawed and this explains why over 50 percent of the heart attack deaths occur in people with perfectly normal cholesterol levels, and this includes diabetics.
SS:
Well, that’s a difficult sell because many doctors have convinced their patients, especially men, that they cannot live without statins.
THE TRUTH ABOUT CHOLESTEROL
ACCORDING TO RUSSELL BLAYLOCK
The truth about cholesterol is that this brainwashing has been around so long it’s now dogma, and it’s wrong. Cholesterol is not what causes heart attacks. If you study the research (I went back to the 1930s and 1940s) in which they came up with this idea of cholesterol, it’s not what the research showed; they made a mistake.
The research actually showed that the number one cause of atherosclerosis was consuming too much sugar and eating too many processed carbohydrates. At the time they were feeding the research rabbits cholesterol, but rabbits don’t eat meat, and when they do, they develop atherosclerosis. The research showed if you fed the rabbits only cholesterol, they did not develop atherosclerosis even if you injected it. But the researchers ignored this valuable and important bit of information that the cholesterol was not the problem, but the problem was oxidation of all the fats in the blood vessels. They focused on cholesterol because it was the one you could measure. It is interesting to note that in these early studies, they mixed the cholesterol with corn oil. When the corn oil was removed, the animals developed very little atherosclerosis. Newer studies have now shown that
the very type of oils recommended by medical authorities and the government, the heart-healthy polyunsaturated vegetable oils, increases atherosclerosis as well as inflammation throughout the body.
Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory disorder of the blood vessel lining, not a disorder of cholesterol, and this is the inflammation that is produced by all the polyunsaturated vegetable lipids: the omega-6 fats and oxidized cholesterol. Fats oxidize, and oxidized fats are very, very irritating. They produce high levels of free radicals in the walls of the vessel, and the body recognizes this and starts sending white blood cells in to gobble up the toxic oxidized fat. Then the white blood cells get filled with fat (these are your so-called foam cells), they subsequently break and release fat into the wall of the vessel, and you get plaque. At this point the body tries to protect itself against the inflammation (plaque) and that’s when you get calcium deposits.
SS:
So wait a minute … sugars and processed foods are the problem?
RB:
Processed foods and sugary foods are made with omega-6 oils, like corn oil and safflower oil. If you feed animals omega-6 oils—corn oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil—they develop rampant atherosclerosis. The only way researchers were able to produce atherosclerosis in rabbits was to mix cholesterol with corn oil. If you didn’t mix it with corn oil, they didn’t develop the disease. So it’s the corn oil causing the problem.
SS:
But corn oil has been recommended as a “heart-healthy oil” for the last fifty years!
RB:
Yes, and it’s wrong. Corn oil is polyunsaturated oil. You never should cook in polyunsaturated oil because it oxidizes the oil; but people are cooking fries, chicken, and other things in these oils, and the food is oxidizing. Fast foods are notorious for cooking in cheap omega-6 oils and people are eating massive amounts of it. In most fast-food restaurants, the oil is used over and over, and this results in a highly oxidized oil ending up in your food.
SS:
So Americans are consuming massive amounts of already oxidized oil and they are developing atherosclerosis?
RB:
Yes, but it’s not cholesterol doing this to them. I don’t care if you have a level of 280. If it isn’t oxidized, then it’s not going to produce a problem.
SS:
Is there a test to show if it’s oxidized or not?
RB:
Not clinically, but you can do it experimentally. Doctors never look at experimental studies; they only look at clinical studies, but a great number of the clinical studies are doctored to sell statin drugs. If you look at all the major studies that have been done on the benefit of statin drugs, you will see that very commonly the authors of the papers will have to disclose that they are getting paid by the statin makers. Actually, in several instances it has been proven that the studies were written by the pharmaceutical companies and the doctors just put their names on them, having never seen the paper prior to attaching their names. So it’s tainted research. If you look at the actual research on atherosclerosis, it’s saying just the opposite of what all the clinical studies are interpreted as saying.
Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory disease; if you want to stop it, stop inflammation. Here’s the secret of statins I wrote about years ago … the only reason a statin reduces heart attacks at all is because it’s an anti-inflammatory. It’s an immune suppressant. It has nothing to do with lowering cholesterol. We know this because other drugs that do not lower cholesterol, but reduce inflammation, reduce heart attack risk even more than statins.
If you want to prevent and reverse atherosclerosis, there are a lot of natural anti-inflammatories that are far better than statins and far safer: curcumin and quercetin, pomegranate extract, garlic extract, omega-3 oils, extra-virgin olive oil, vitamin E with high gamma E tocopherol, tocotrienol, and vitamin C. The preceding are powerful antioxidants that prevent excessive blood coagulation, reduce inflammation, block excitotoxicity, detox toxins, and, as a result, are inhibitors of atherosclerosis. Ellagic acid, as found in pomegranate extract, is one of the powerful flavonoids known to not only prevent atherosclerosis but also reverse it
.
Ellagic acid as a natural product is not harmful, but of course the pharmaceutical industry would rather sell you a toxic drug that is also a powerful immune suppressant, one that increases cancer and leads to brain degeneration.
SS:
We’ve talked about this before and I know from experience, even in the light of reading this, most people have such fear of going against Western medicine that they probably will take Lipitor or one of the other similar statins anyway.
RB:
People have been taking them for the last twenty years and yet the incidence of heart attacks and stroke has not decreased until recently when the doctors started recommending coQ
10
, but the entire time they were just on statins there was no decrease in the death rate from heart attacks and strokes.
SS:
If a person is taking a statin and coQ
10
, then is that person protected from inflammation?
RB:
Yes, but at the risk of chronic immune suppression, which increases their risk of infections of all types and cancer.
Look at Bill Clinton: He had a heart attack and his doctor put him on a statin; he had another heart attack and he was put on more statins. The doctors raised his statin level and he still has heart disease. And now he’s not taking supplements because he’s been advised they are no good. He thinks being on a vegan diet is going to save him. But now there’s the danger of being B
12
deficient and deficient in amino acids without sufficient protein, which will cause a whole host of other problems.
SS:
What happens when a person is B
12
and amino deficient?
RB:
These deficient amino acids are called
essential
amino acids, because the body cannot manufacture them from other metabolic products (such as sugars). These make the building blocks of cells and tissues as well as enzymes. The B
12
deficiency is associated with a high incidence of heart disease, and this is because it leads to high levels of homocysteine. Homocysteine is an excitotoxin and breaks down further into even more excitotoxins. Excitotoxins can cause atherosclerosis (blood vessels have a number of glutamate receptors). B
12
deficiency also leads to extreme fatigue and weakness.
SS:
So the answer to plaque in the arteries is to take curcumin (turmeric), quercetin, ellagic acid, and omega-3 fish oil, plus eat a good diet?
RB:
And avoid chemicals, processed foods, and cut out the sugar.
SS:
Okay, next I want to talk to you about something you said about the dumbing down of Americans. What did you mean? Is there a sinister plot?
RB:
There is a book called
The Molecular Vision of Life
written by
a scientist, Lily E. Kay; it chronicles the history of molecular biology in the United States. It all started with the fundamental idea that elites felt they needed to socially engineer society, the theory being that most people are too stupid to take care of themselves and that they (the elites) needed to be the ones who design society. They were the money and the force behind the eugenics movement back in the ’20s and ’30s. Rockefeller was one of the leaders of this movement who believed they needed to control society because they knew best. This author had access to the Rockefeller family’s archives and found that these elites had purchased pharmaceutical companies and then changed the curriculum in medical schools so as to emphasize pharmaceutical treatments of disease. They did this by funding what is known as the Flexner Report.
SS:
This is where they sent Abraham Flexner to offer financial incentives in perpetuity to medical schools and universities to teach only allopathic.
RB:
Correct. That is when they were able to get rid of all instruction concerning nutrition and only teach about pharmaceutical medicines. Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory was one of the major ones, but also Caltech was another big center, and then the University of Chicago joined in along with Johns Hopkins and others. Rockefeller made sure all professors appointed as heads of departments and presidents of universities were in agreement with their philosophy. They were all eugenicists; they all thought that science should be redesigning humanity so only perfect people could exist. Everybody else would be weeded out.
SS:
Sounds very Hitler-ish.
RB:
Actually, Hitler heard about this and sent his people over to be trained in the theories. Also, emissaries were sent to Hitler’s Germany to learn his techniques. This is all documented.
It used to be that John D. Rockefeller was anathema. Nobody ever wanted to admit they knew him because he was so unscrupulous. He had a friend who advised him that to remove the black mark against his name he should start being philanthropic: build museums and give money to educational institutions. Rockefeller did this and it worked. He became respected.
SS:
I guess you could say this is a brilliant business template … if you own pharmaceutical companies, and create what is now our sole approach to medicine, then you are going to sell a lot of drugs.
RB:
Right, then eugenics started to backfire. Because of Hitler’s actions, the world suddenly realized that people like Hitler were sick monsters. So Rockefeller told his people never to use the word “eugenics” again. Instead he called it “social engineering” or the “new man,” and that was when he hit on the idea of molecular science or molecular biology based on new studies coming out of science laboratories. Then Rockefeller poured huge amounts of money into major medical universities to set up departments of molecular biology, which would use eugenics to accomplish the same thing; that is, create genetically perfect people and weed out those who were not perfect.
SS:
What was the big idea behind all this and how are we affected today?
