“What? How could you?” Randy glared at her father, who threw up his hands.

“Your grandfather called me and knew something was going on. He knows how close your friends are to you and there was no way I could stop them,” Trevor said and looked at Duke. “Sorry.”

“Why?” Duke asked almost afraid to hear the answer.

“Because my father has kind of a lot of pull among my people.” Trevor said.

“Kind of? His father is a damn prince and Randy is his first granddaughter. Be prepared for a whole lot of help,” Alex said. “Well at least I know you’ll be safe.” her mom said and backed away as Randy, Lucy, and the children climbed into the limo.

His father patted him on the shoulder. “I’m glad I’m not in your shoes. Call me when you get everyone settled. Karen will worry till she hears from you or Lucy.”

He nodded and got into the limo, following his brother and wondering what kind of mess was going to be waiting for them when they got home.

Chapter Eight

Lucy couldn’t help but smile as Duke paced back and forth on the plane. She leaned over to Randy and whispered. “You really should have told us about your family.”

“That is one thing I hated and, believe me, I would have if I could, but dad made me promise. If I broke that promise, we would have been forced to move and I didn’t want to lose you two,” Randy told her, looking to Scotty who shook her head.

“Of course all this crap has to happen when I leave to get my things. Oh, I did quit my job, because I realized while packing that there wasn’t really anyone in town. You two are the only family I have and I am not going to let go of you,” Scotty said, reaching over and squeezing Lucy’s and Randy’s hands. “The three ladies will stay together no matter what.”

Lucy laughed taking a quick glance over to her right as Karla and Roman ate their ice cream while watching a movie. They were finally relaxing.

“They’ll be fine, once they are settled in their own new rooms and have something stable,” Randy said and squeezed her arm.

“I know, but I worry about them. How are they going to get along with the children of the pack? I don’t want them to be singled out because they are human.” She looked up to see Duke staring at her, while he was still on the phone. But it was obvious he had heard her words with his stupid superb hearing.

“I think we need to get both of your men ear plugs so we can talk in peace without them hearing everything we say,” Scotty said, glaring up at Nolan who made his way towards them.

“But then how could we make sure you three are happy and taken care of, if we can’t hear you?” Nolan said, handing them all drinks. “The children will be fine. One thing that my brother and I have noticed is that both of them are fighters.” He ran a finger down Lucy’s cheek before moving over and joining the children in question.

“I have to say, you sure as hell made out in the men department, plus you have two,” Scotty said, leaning back and sighing.

Lucy looked up just as Duke tucked he phone in his pants, making his way towards them. His gaze moved from her to Randy.

Coming over to her seat, he lifted her up as if she didn’t weigh over 200 pounds. He took her seat and placed her in his lap. “I just got off the phone with my uncle. When your mother said prince, she wasn’t kidding. Already his guards have shown up. Since we don’t know if your grandparents are staying, I’ve set them up in the guest house behind ours.”

Randy sighed. “I’m sorry. The last time they showed up, it was a zoo. If it’s any consolation, they usually don’t stay long. I think the longest they’ve stayed was about a week and that time dad was ready to kill grandpa.” Randy smiled. “They do like to spoil me a little.”

Both she and Scotty snorted, staring at their friend. “Really? A Little?” Scotty said.

Randy laughed and threw a pencil at Scotty. “Fine, a lot.” Randy looked over at Duke. “Their last visit they handed me keys to a condo in England. They had found out that it’s one of my favorite places to travel. So I can just imagine what they’ll have waiting for me,” she sighed.

“Well, we could use a place of our own,” Scotty said. “I mean Lucy needs time with her men, as do the children,” Scotty said.

Lucy started to protest, but Duke patted her hand. “Scotty, both my brother and I would prefer you two stay with us till we make sure this mess is cleared up. You two mean the world to Lucy and to us and that means you are family.” Duke said his hand rubbing Lucy’s back.

“Did you hear anything yet? How did he get hold of my number and get hold of a phone in jail?” Lucy asked.

“No, the judge is on his way to the prison to find out what is going on. Lucy, I’m afraid the kid’s rooms you set up for them took the worse hit in your home. He destroyed everything you had in that room,” Duke told her.

She sat there stunned. Lucy thought he would have gone after her belongings, but to attack his own children… Tears filled her eyes as she glanced over to see the kids laughing at the movie they were watching. Nolan looked over his shoulder at her as if sensing her pain.

He mouthed. “They’re safe.”

“Nothing will happen to them,” Duke pulled her back against him. “This man is truly sick and he’ll never get out of prison, you have to believe this.”

“But what if he hires someone to hurt them again?” Lucy said. “You don’t know what he did to Karla alone. I didn’t even know till the caseworker told me.”

“Look at me, Lucy,” Duke said, pulling her back so he could look into her eyes. “He won’t see another year, I can promise you that.” Duke’s eyes were almost glowing. Lucy could see how furious he was too.

“Thank you. I just want to give them the best simple life. They have had nothing and they enjoy the little things,” Lucy said and smiled. “They loved the zoo so much. I’d like to do so much with them.”

“All of us will. Matter of fact, I know my uncle is planning a nice big cook out by the lake tomorrow. This way the kids can meet other pack children. The sooner they meet a few other children, the sooner they will feel more at home.” Duke told her.

* * *

To say Duke was furious was an understatement. Oh, he had learned that Henry had weaseled his way into an office to hire these thugs and call Lucy and that was unacceptable. The pictures his father had sent him of the children’s room had set his blood to boil.

This man should never have had children and it was obvious he wasn’t going to stop till his heart stopped beating, which was now being arranged. Even in jail there were ways to get to a man, but he would wait to see what this judge could do. But if Duke didn’t think the solution was good enough, the man would die, and soon.

Lucy stood. “I’m going to use the bathroom before we land,” she said and made her way down the aisle. The woman was stunning, her round ass swinging as she walked to the restroom.

He stood and stretched. “Excuse me, ladies,” he said following Lucy at a slower pace, giving her time to get her business done, but needing her at the same time. He heard the laughs from her friends, but ignored them, hearing the toilet flush, his clue she was done.

Duke was super glad he had made sure that the bathrooms were normal size as he stepped into the bathroom, closing the door behind him. His gaze met hers in the mirrors as she was washing his hands.

“I’ll be done in a minute,” she said.

He moved up behind her and cupped her ass, before moving his hands under her shirt to cup her breasts. All the while, he kept his gaze still on her. “I don’t need to go,” he told her, leaning down and placing a kiss on her neck.

“Did you know you have an ass that I can’t wait to worship? Your curves are perfect. Breasts full to fit my hands and your scent drives me crazy every time I’m close to you.”

Lucy shut off the water and dried her hands before turning around to stare up at him. She glanced at the door then at him.

“Relax, we’re not going to make love in here. No, our first time together will be when we are not rushed, because I plan to take my sweet time kissing every inch of your body.” He dropped to his knees before her and lifted her shirt, staring at the scars on her belly.

“I wish we would have found you sooner,” he said, before licking and placing kisses on each knife mark. “You will be cherished and loved beyond anything you have ever known.” He looked up at her as she placed her finger on his cheek.

“I don’t need to be put on a pedestal, Duke. Just love me.” She took a deep breath, closing her eyes and resting her hands on his shoulders. Lucy smiled and looked down at him. “I used to dream of finding a man who would hold me when I cried, comfort me when I was sick, and make love to me when and wherever the urge took him. But right now, I’d settle with being safe and loved.”

He stood and lifted her onto the counter behind her. “You will have all that you crave. We already can’t stand the thought of being separated from you or the children. With our kind, when we find our mate it’s….” Duke shook his head. “It’s hard to explain. There is a peace inside here.” he placed his hand over her heart. “And a burning need always down here.” He took her small hand into his and placed it over his cock which had been in a state of hardness since he’d seen her last night. “This will never go away. You complete us, make us whole. I’m the alpha of my pack. It’s my duty to protect my pack members, to take care of them. But with you, it’s a need a want to make sure you are happy. The thought of you crying or hurt rips my heart apart.” Duke reached up and cupped her cheeks.

“And as far as the making love wherever I want, well baby, you have two full grown men who can’t wait to show you their kind of loving,” he growled, just as the co-pilot knocked on the door.

“Sorry sir, hate to interrupt, but we are about ready to land,” he said through the door.

He sighed. “Thank you, Mark, we’ll be right out.” Duke lifted Lucy up and hugged her tight. “I can’t wait to love you under the stars by the lake. But for now, time to buckle up,” Duke moved to her side, escorting her to the front where Nolan was already buckling the children in. Lucy came around to sit next to Karla.

“Are you as excited about this as I am?” she asked, lifting her gaze to meet his. She reached over and brushed back Roman’s blond hair away from his face, before handing Randy the tablet after shutting it down.

“Do we really get our own rooms?” Roman asked.

Duke took his seat across from Roman and smiled. “Yes, you will both have your own rooms. They will be right down the hall from ours, so you won’t have to worry about being alone either.”

Nolan looked out the window as they touched down. “Uncle Camden is here,” he snorted. “And of course half the family is with him.”

“What? I don’t know if we’re ready to meet a whole bunch of people right now. Plus, we really do need to get the kids settled so they can explore a little bit of their new home before bed,” Lucy said, but he knew she was nervous.

Duke reached over and squeezed Lucy’s knee. “They’re going to love all of you, I promise.”

Not all
,” Nolan growled. “
Liddy is here.”

“What?” Duke snapped out loud, making the kids and Lucy jump.

He shook his head and sighed. “I’m sorry, little ones. My brother informed me of something I’m not happy about, but it has nothing to do with any of you.” He looked at Karla and winked at her. “But I have a feeling my brother and I are going to have to keep all the little boys away from a very pretty little girl.”

Karla giggled and Lucy nodded her head. “Now, you want to tell me what’s wrong? No, let me guess, a girlfriend?” she asked, as the plane shut down and both Scotty and Randy stood behind her, watching.

Chapter Nine

Lucy stood at the top of the stairs to the plane staring down at the small group that waited for them. Roman held one hand and Karla the other, while Scotty and Randy were behind them.

“Do you believe that witch?” Scotty snapped, glaring at the woman that was now hanging all over Nolan, kissing his face. “Let me go knock the shit out of her,” Scotty growled.

“No, they will handle it. They didn’t know they’d find their mate, Scotty. You have to give them time to get rid of the… girl,” she said, smiling at Karla and Roman.

“I don’t like her or him anymore,” Roman pouted and looked up at her. “He’s hurting you.”

“Oh sweetie. We’ll be fine. See how Nolan is pushing her off of him. He doesn’t like her right now either. Give them a chance. Remember, we’re all knew at this family stuff, right?” she said looking at him and Karla.

Both nodded, but she could see the hurt in their little faces. “Well come on, let’s get this over with so we can get you two settled in our new home.” Lucy stood and made her way down the stairs with her group.

Duke waited for her at the bottom of the stairs.. He was glaring at the woman who was being dragged away by two men. “Uncle Camden, Aunt Tish, this is our mate, Lucy, her two friends Randy and Scotty, and our two children, Roman and Karla,” Duke said, wrapping his arm around Lucy as soon as she got off the stairs.

The bear of a man smiled, stepping forward, and hugged her tight, almost lifting her off the ground. “Welcome to the family, Lucy. I’m so, so sorry about that disturbance.” He stepped back and glanced over his shoulder. “She had to have followed us. I would never have brought her here.”

His wife, Tish, snorted and engulfed her in a hug. “That is true. My husband would have buried the woman if he even thought of her starting trouble. We’ve been waiting for these two to find their woman for a while now and we couldn’t be happier to meet you all.”

Tish stepped back and knelt by the kids. “I have something for both of you.” She dug into her purse and pulled out two disposable cameras. “Now since this all very new to you two, I thought we could start right off the bat with taking pictures of everything you like here. This will be our project together. We’ll make scrapbooks and each month we’ll get together to add pictures. What do you think?” she said, handing them both a camera.

Roman frowned, looking at the thing. “But I don’t know how?” he said.
