“I’ll have a double Italian cheeseburger with the works and I’ll take whatever beer you have back there on the house.” He smiled smugly.

Blinking confused, Delilah asked, “Excuse me?”

There was no way this guy was getting a free meal. He was handsome but gruesome all the same and definitely dangerous. There was no doubt in her mind because the moment he strolled in, a chill scampered down her spine.  And sure he was scary looking, right down to the ugly scar on his throat, but there was no way he was eating on her salary. Looking at him again, she licked her lips as he gently grabbed her wrist and peered into her eyes.

“I said…I’ll have a double Italian cheeseburger with the works and I’ll take whatever beer you have back there on the house.” Lucien repeated and her timid eyes turned seductive.

With just a mere touch, he’d enthralled her. Planting whatever seed he had in her mind had been too effortless because she had been weak minded to begin with. She’d be an easy lay and there would be no looking back. He couldn’t think about the after math. Regaining his strength was his first priority because he had limited time to face the task at hand.

“Coming right up sugar. Whatever you want is on me.” She replied winking at him and he grimaced.

Not that it mattered to her anyway because she was under his control. In her mind he was now whatever she’d ever wanted in a man, and she wouldn’t stop until she had him. Sighing he watched her briefly as she strolled back into the kitchen area. She was definitely trying to show off her assets, hoping Lucien had been watching.

Which he wasn’t.

He was too busy trying to map out his next step in his mind. If Delilah had a car, that would eliminate the problem of transportation. The car would undoubtedly be his in a matter of hours. But if she didn’t, he was gonna have to steal one from a schmuck in the diner. After a few minutes of waiting, Delilah came out with his food. Biting into his sandwich was mouthwatering. He hadn’t had human food in what seemed like ages. It had been a few centuries, but who was counting?

The door chimed as a customer walked in. Lucien’s eyes slid up from
his burger and landed on the hooded figure. He walked to the counter, obviously ordered, then stood and waited. Biting into his burger again, Lucien saw a flicker outside of his window. Turning to look out, he saw it clearer this time. There was a flash of lightning. But he found that odd because there was no thunder to follow. Watching it a few more times, he dropped his burger on the plate the slid up from his booth.

“Looks like you had the same idea I did.” Delilah said stopping right in front of him.

She placed a hand on his chest, and then went upward toward the scar on his throat, but that didn’t sit too well with him. Grabbing her arm, he bared his clenched teeth furiously. Knowing that she was only attracted to him because he glamoured her was one thing—he was not gonna stand for her groping him in places he hated to be touched. Wincing in pain she stared at him baffled. After seeing the pain in her eyes he released his grip.

“You like it rough huh sugar? I’m off the clock so that means we can take this back to my place.” She smiled shaking her car keys as she moved close to him once more.

Pushing passed her; he snatched the keys and headed out of the diner. Walking through the parking lot, he saw the flash again. It was in the area he’d come from. Grumbling, he took off in that direction. He’d have to come back for the car later; he had to find out what was going on.

Crawling, tears fell from Hazel’s eyes as she tried to escape. Dirt was embedded in her finger tips and blood filled her mouth. She suddenly felt fingers grip her hair and yank her back. Screaming as her head fell back, she felt him tug harder to pull her to her feet. To keep him from snatching her hair out of her scalp, she complied. The moment she was on her feet, he tugged her closer to him. His body was hard against hers and full of heat.

“Still want me?” he whispered in her ear with a chuckle.

He then threw her to the ground and forced her to turn over as he got on top of her.

“Please.’ She whimpered looking up to him with a dirt smudged face.

Suddenly a pair of feet stopped in front of them. He looked up to see a pair of beautiful legs attached and a smile teased his lips.

“Why don’t you pick on a girl more your speed?” she replied staring down at him.

Forgetting the girl lying beneath him, he pushed himself up and took in her beauty. She had long dark hair with beautiful honey blonde streaks. Besides that, she stood about 5’6 with a slender frame but very put together in
all
the right places that counted. Being that he was over six feet, he knew he would easily tower over her. Which he planned to do.

“You don’t give up do you?” he growled seductively as Hazel scurried away to safety.

“Not in my job description.” She simply answered as they kept a wary eye on each other.

“So you’ve come to take me in have you?” he chuckled and she simply nodded.

“You know you're not gonna take me alive don’t you?” he sneered.

“I’m prepared to do what I have to.
Especially now.” She answered and his glare went cold as he walked toward her.

“I knew you had it in you
, angel.” He teased as they stood chest to face.

“I’m nothing like you.” She protested as she looked up into his very sadistic eyes.

“I beg to differ, sweet cheeks.” He smiled smugly as he ran his scorching finger down her face, searing her skin.

That was her breaking point
. In the next instant her fist had slammed into his face. He smiled as blood trickled down his lip.

“Give me a kiss to make it all better!” he shouted swinging at her.

Reflexes kicking in, she blocked, but he immediately threw another blow. To her advantage, she’d caught his arm and threw her own punch, striking him in the chest. She’d undoubtedly knocked the wind out of him as he stumbled back. Still, he had that stupid grin on his face. He was enjoying their tussle just a little too much. Cutting to the chase, an illuminating white light spewed from her hand as she manifested a dagger. He ran at her, but she dodged the blow and swiped at him, cutting flesh and drawing blood.

“Doesn’t have to be like this.”
She offered, hoping he’d fold and just let her take him.

“But it does.” He answered wiping the blood from his chest and licking it clean from his finger.

Running at her once more, she hurled a kick, but he caught her leg with one hand and her hip in the other. Rushing forward, he slammed her into the tree behind them. She groaned in pain as the air rushed from her lungs, but that didn’t slow her down. Throwing another punch, she cracked him dead in the nose. He growled furiously as he grabbed her wrist with one hand and her throat in the other before leaning into the nape of her neck. Breathing in deeply, he sighed in ecstasy.

“Why don’
t you say we throw our weapons down and get intimate instead?” he offered as he crushed her throat a little tighter and she gagged for air.

He moved from her throat and licked the side of her face
, leaving a trail of slime. Grumbling in revulsion, she took her free hand and jammed the dagger in the side of his throat. Lucky for her he was so interested in bedding her that he forgot to watch her armed hand. Coughing up black blood, he stumbled back as she tackled him. Falling to the ground below, she grabbed the dagger and tugged. He screamed and grabbed her by the throat, but she tugged harder and felt his flesh and arteries rupture. More of the thick inky substance oozed from the wound as she yanked the dagger free. Raising the dagger, she aimed it at his chest to go for the heart.

“Do it.” He sputtered with that dumb smirk still in place even though he was covered in his own blood.

Without hesitating, she plunged the dagger down for good measure, but Lucien caught her by the arms and threw her off. Falling flat on her back, she dropped the dagger in the dirt. Kicking herself up from the ground, she stood looking at Lucien with rage filled eyes but he was too busy looking at her culprit who laid flat on the ground. Eyeing her dagger, she went for it, but Lucien grabbed her by both arms and pinned her to the damn n tree again.

“Let me go!’ she growled and he could feel her strength as she fought his grip.

Staring at her, Lucien gasped as she opened her eyes. Pure violet radiated from them.

                                                          Chapter Three

                                      Dreams of Reality

That tiny moment of hesitation cost Lucien the upper hand. His violet eyed beauty kneed him in the groin and he doubled over, releasing his grip on her. Shoving him out of her way, she search
ed the perimeter only to find the ground empty. Her dagger was gone and so was the asshole leaking venom.

Dezmon please don’t!” Hazel screamed catching her attention.

Looking over, she saw him plunge her dagger in Hazel’s gut.
She was too late. Hazel crumbled to the ground and regret seeped over her. After waving to her, Dezmon vanished in the blink of an eye. Running over, she dropped to her knees, and grabbed Hazel’s hand. There was nothing she could do to save her. She could feel her soul fading.

“I’m sorry.” She whispered as she clutched her hand tighter and Lucien
toward over them, his shadow covering the moonlight.

Hazel took her last breath and Lucien saw the grief pour from “Violet”. After saying a tiny prayer, her eyes slid up to him enraged.

“You!” she shouted springing up to her feet.

Lucien just stood with his fist bawled at their sides as a soldier would do.
She ran at him but he dodged her.

“Wait!” he shouted, but she came at him again, this time striking him in the face.

Tasting the blood in his mouth he
tsked. There was no way he was letting this chick beat him up. And that blow to the face was a testament of her strength. She definitely didn’t hit like a girl. Well a human girl anyway. Her spunk was admirable but right now he was too pissed off to notice. He hated being hit—and especially in the face none the less. Before he got to think, she threw another punch. This time he caught her fist and pulled her to him. Twirling her into his arms, he held her tight from behind; closing her tiny arms in his strong ones.

“Get off me you heathen!” she shouted fighting to get loose.

Heathen? Really? What time period was this chick from?

“Stop fighting me and I will.” He said emotionless
, not easing his grip on her.

“Never!
I don’t like your kind.” She sneered.

“My kind?” he scoffed. “What exactly is that?”

“Evil douche bags.” She simple said, still withering in his arms.

Lucien was getting rather aroused every time her body pressed up against his, but he did his best to ignore it. There was a serious task at hand and he’d fallen right in the middle of it.
There was no time to think of his lower desires.

“I thought I killed all of you on the way here.” She spat and he grew even more confused.

“When you two are done dancing I’d like to cut in.” Vulcan interrupted standing in the distance with four other men behind him.

Lucien grumbled at the sight of the ass
wipe. Whoever he was, he definitely had bad timing. Not to mention an awful outfit on. But he looked easy on the eye which usually meant trouble. Studying the guy, he stood about 6 feet, dark hair, lean and ordinary looking. Staring a little closer Lucien could see his eyes flicker red in the moonlight. This guy was definitely a demon.

Not good.

“You’re gonna have to trust me.” Lucien whispered in “Violet’s” ear and she scoffed.

“As if.”
She muttered. “I’m not stupid enough to let you kill me.”
