“I love you Angel. You’re
leaking.” His hands came around to my breasts and fondled gently
before he turned me around and sucked hard once on each
nipple.

“Better leave some for
Caitie before she howls bloody murder.” He picked me up and stepped
out of his jeans as he headed for the shower.

We were okay again I could
tell. I like the way he takes care of me, how he can be this tough
no nonsense guy one minute but then when he touches me he’s so
gentle. Like right now as he washes me, the way he takes his time
and enjoys every swipe of the washcloth across the planes of my
body.

“Get your hands off my cock
baby you know it doesn’t take much for him to get
started.”

“You couldn’t possibly not
after twice this morning.”

“You wanna bet?”

He kissed me as the water
washed down on us his hands holding my face so tenderly it brought
tears to my eyes. Not for the first time I wondered how I’d gotten
so lucky. How my life could be so perfect.

“I love you Colton Lyon so
much.”

“I love you too pain in the
ass.”

“Hey.” I smacked his butt
playfully as we heard Caitlin starting to wake up through one of
the hundred monitors Colt insisted that we have in the
house.

“You do your thing I’ll buy
you some time.” He’s so good with her like super dad or something.
I wonder when he’s going to become like so many men that I’ve heard
about. The ones who lose interest when the newness wears off; he
doesn’t seem to be losing interest though. Not with me and not with
the baby, in fact he seems even more committed than in the
beginning if that were even possible. I think I’m learning that my
husband is an all or nothing kind of guy, when he does something he
gives it one hundred and ten percent. That can be a bit
overwhelming at times but it’s also what makes me feel safe and so
very loved. I smiled and dried myself off when I heard him come
back into our bedroom talking to our girl. I wonder what the two of
them have planned for today. Colt was not playing around when he
said it’s all about his daughter’s first Xmas. As far as I know
from our one and only holiday together he isn’t even that much into
the holiday. Which brought up a good point.

“Colton I was just thinking,
last year the only thing you cared about for the holidays was me
having a good one, you weren’t even into any of it. Now this year
it’s about me and Caitie, if you don’t really believe in the
holiday why are you going to all this trouble?”

“That’s simple babe, when I
was a kid I did believe in it, it was one of the happiest times
along with birthdays and other holidays something to look forward
to. I want her to have all of that, when she gets older she can
decide if the fat bastard really does climb down chimneys and shit.
We’re just not teaching her all that other hocus pocus crap, we’ll
find a good balance between harmless fantasy and reality. I just
want my little girl to have a great time, both of my girls.” He
leaned over with the baby in his arms and kissed me which sent her
off. She does get overly excited when she sees her parents
together.

ELENA

“Char you haven’t said
anything about our new little charge and it’s been two
days.”

“I don’t know yet don’t want
to jump the gun.”

Tina was having a coughing
fit, her eyes were all red already and we’d only just
started.

“Tina if Drake catches you
there’s going to be hell to pay and you know he’s going to blame
poor Daniel who doesn’t even know I was in his stash.”

“Give it here lightweight.”
Char took the joint from Tina. We were sitting and lying around on
the benches in the sauna room. This seems to be where we always
gravitated to when we wanted to get mellow and discuss shit. It was
the quietest place in the house away from prying eyes and ears just
perfect for when we were hashing something out; or plotting
something.

“You must feel something
though Char not even a little niggle?”

“I’m not sure yet but I get
the sense she’s hiding something I just don’t know what yet, she’s
blocking.”

“And did you notice how she
kept turning the conversation back to Colton?”

“Yeah I caught that too Tina
but if that’s her angle she’s barking up the wrong tree I know my
son he’s totally gone over his wife and his little
girl.”

“I can vouch for that, their
colors are all blended together. If she’s after our Colt she’s in
for a rude awakening but I didn’t get that, there’s something else
going on. I think Colt is right to be cautious.”

“And I don’t buy that
amnesia bullshit, I hope she doesn’t mess with my kid, she’s been
through enough already.” Tina tightened her towel as she sat
up.

“You know Colt will never
let anything happen to his Kat.”

“I have to say he’s nothing
at all like I expected when we first met.”

“What do you
mean?”

“Nothing bad, it’s just that
the first time I saw him he seemed so intense and Kat was so young
and after everything she’d been through I don’t know, I was just
afraid he was only out for a good time.”

‘That’s because you weren’t
here for the courtship…oh to have that kind of passion
again.”

“Elena you’re full of shit
you and the doc screw more than wild rabbits, it’s disgusting the
way two people your age carry on.”

“You should talk
Char.”

“It must be something in the
air because Drake is…”

“What, you can’t just leave
it there.”

“He’s just so…much, it’s
like we’re teens all over again, all that fire and passion.” She
blushed beet red just like her daughter and Char and I leaned
closer for more details. We’re horny middle aged women so
what?

The talk turned to
sexcapades and we were soon howling with laughter and high as a
kite. I see why Daniel likes this stuff it takes the edge off and
makes everything seem so simple.

“I know what we have to do,
if we want to learn what this girl is up to we’re going to have to
keep her close, watch her every move what do you say?”

“Yes Lena that sounds great,
we’ll befriend her, make her feel all welcomed and maybe she’d drop
her guard I like it.”

“That sounds so devious,
shouldn’t we let the police handle this?”

“Tina just because you’re
living with a cop that doesn’t mean you have to start thinking like
one. This is for our grandbaby, if she’s here to upset the apple
cart who do you think is going to suffer the most?”

“You’ve got a
point.”

“Good then it’s settled now
roll another one Char you’re better at it than me.”

“Amateur.”

Chapter
10

LYON

Today was the crew’s annual
random act of kindness day. I don’t know how random it is though
since we had a few things we always did around this time of year.
Although I might not put much stock in Xmas per se there was still
a good percentage of the population who did. Every year for the
past five or so the sisters baked cookies and cakes and those
little gingerbread men which they then wrapped in these cute little
boxes for us men to pass out. Then later in the evening we’d take
them around to the women’s shelter and the children’s ward at the
hospital. We collected money to buy gifts for the children and made
sure they had something to look forward to as well. This year that
shit meant a little more to me than in years past. The thought of
those little kid some of them not much older than Caitie was hard
to take. This is just one of the reasons my crew is so well loved
in our town because we do shit like this for our people. It didn’t
matter what they looked like white black or red everyone in this
town was ours and we looked out for all of them the same. I had
baby duty while Kat bustled around in the kitchen making her
special pies. At least I had baby duty until we were invaded by the
mothers. Mom and her gaggle of hens showed up first thing in the
damn morning and took over.

“Elena what are you doing
here?”

“Son that’s no way to talk
to your mother and for your information we’re here to help Kat with
the baking.”

“Don’t you have an
oven?”

“Yes but it’s more fun doing
it together, come on Caitie let’s go into the kitchen and grandma
will teach you how to make her shoofly pie.” She confiscated my
damn kid.

“Hey we were just about to
read the three little pigs woman.”

“Oh Colt you can do that
anytime, besides you have her all the time grandma only gets to see
her every so often.”

“Mom you’ve seen that kid
almost everyday since she’s been born quit the bull. Hi Tina, hi
Char.”

“Hey Colt how goes
it?”

“Uh huh.” I sniffed the air
when the giggling started, Daniel isn’t the only one you have to
watch out for these days he’s turned Elena and her posse onto his
shit and she can be just as bad as he is.

“Just remember the cookies
and pies are to be given away you three get the munchies I hope you
have something to eat in those suitcases you call
purses.”

“Whatever do you mean
Colton?” Tina tried to play the innocent card but she was about to
bust from holding back her laughter.

“Drake know what you been up
to?”

“He might not know for sure
but he sure do enjoy the benefits.” Kat came out of the kitchen
when the hooting and hollering started.

“I know that’s right, I
think that’s why Daniel leaves it out where I can find it. He does
like the added agility.”

“For the love of…mom cut it
out that’s just nasty.” I made my escape on that note. I sure wish
my parents would realize it was not cool to share certain things
with me, damn.

I could hear them in the
kitchen yakking it up so I headed for my office, might as well find
something to do with myself since the babysitting gig fell through.
I called up Jared to see what he had going, somebody had to have an
ass that needed kicking. Anything to get me the fuck out of here
with Kat and her shit; Fucking women.

“Dude what we got
going?”

“Nothing that I know of I
have to go chop down a tree for old lady Morris but that’s about
it.”

“You decorating it
too?”

“Nah her grandkids are
supposed to be coming over to do that.”

“Count me in.”

“I thought you had to take
care of my goddaughter while Katarina cooked.”

“Change of plans, Elena and
her crew are here and they’re high I need out of this place like
now.”

“I’d pay good money to see
that.”

“Trust me bro you don’t want
no part of that shit, where you getting the tree?”

“Where we always get them
Colt out back in the woods behind your place.”

“Fine I’ll meet you back
there.”

“Give me ten before you head
out.”

“No problem.”

I ventured into the henhouse
to kiss my woman and my kid goodbye and from the silence that fell
as soon as I crossed the threshold I knew I really didn’t want any
part of what they had going on in there.

“I don’t even want to know,
please try not to corrupt my poor kid. Bye Caitie bear daddy will
be back soon.”

“Where are you going Colt I
thought you were going to help us?”

“That would be negative,
Jared needs to get a tree for old lady Morris and I’m his wingman.
Besides what do you need me for you’ve got your posse here to do
cleanup. Elena the flour is supposed to go into the bowl not all
over my floor.”

“Where’s the fun in that?
Caitlin likes when grandma makes a mess don’t you sweet girl?”
Caitie could care less she was too busy gnawing on a wooden spoon
with who knows what stuck to it. I gave her one last kiss, sucked
Kat’s face off to the enjoyment of everyone in the room including
my daughter and left the madness and chaos behind.

The back of my place is
nothing but woods after you get pass the swimming pool and
recreation area. I’d cleared it out a bit cutting down most of the
grass and rotted trees so that it looked more inviting I guess you
can say, as opposed to something out of a backpacking horror flick,
but it was still pretty dense in some parts. It was nothing like my
old place but I guess having surrounding land and a backyard said
family home more. I heard Jared before I saw him and from all the
cussing going on I think the tree was winning the battle. Last year
while the guys were helping me clean up back here we’d found the
pine trees and they’d decided that here is where they’d be getting
their Xmas trees from now on. I had no problem with that there were
more than enough back there and if it saved them a couple bucks
each year why not? Even Elena had gotten hers here this year and
she’s the pickiest person I know. One of the guys thought we should
sell them for a profit but I had a better idea. Why not give them
away? So that’s what we did this year and that’s’ how Jared ended
up back here trying to get one for old lady Morris who lived alone
and whose family only came around the holidays.
