Imagine having everything you need right at your fingertips — and then imagine that it’s all portable! This tote can accommodate any tools or supplies. You pick the size and shape, and then let the bag do all the work.

 

OUR FINISHED SIZE:
10" × 15" × 5" deep, two 23" straps

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

¾ yard of fabric for the bag (we used oilcloth)

¾ yard of contrasting fabric for the handles, inside pocket, and pocket panel

WHAT YOU’LL DO

 

Decide your size

Cut your fabric

Make the pocket panel

Stitch the sides

Make the inside pocket

Stitch the top

Make and attach the straps and ties

Measure and Cut

DECIDE YOUR SIZE
. Figure out what size bag you want to make, how long your straps will be, and your desired pocket configuration. When planning your pockets, you can lay your tools out on the wrong side of the fabric and mark off the sizes you’ll need. You’ll need to make the height of the pockets a little shorter than your tools, so you can easily get them in and out. And be sure to add a little ease — this is especially important if the tools have some depth (
see page
15
).

CUT YOUR FABRIC
. Measure and draw the bag pieces on the wrong side of the fabric and cut out the following:

primary fabric: one front panel, one back panel, two side panels, and one bottom panel
