"Kev, King what are ya’ll doing here?"

"Lil bro, we got some information you might need." Kevin replied holding a folder.

"Look K, I know we ain't been as close as we used to be when we were running shit in the streets, but Chi wasn't just my nephew, he was my son. too. So if you back in these streets, then I’m back in them too." King s.

"Won't that be going against God's word?" I asked.

"That's true, but I can repent later. So you want my help or not?"

I got mad respect for my big brother. He been out the game a long time, although he walks by the word, I know he still got that street mentality.

"You still shoot like you did back in the day?"

"I’m at the range three times a week. What you think?"

"My nigga. Let's get to the business. Kev, what you got for me?"

"Pretty sure you know it was Lucky that called the hit. Address 201 Powell Ave., live with his wife, Tracee Jones. Got a son: Reggie Jones,30 who has two kids, twin boys: Elijah & Isaiah both 5. Son: Jeremy 'Lux' Jones,29, deceased, no kids. Daughter: Alicia Jones,24, nurse has one kid: little girl,2. He got a gang of hittas that do all his work for him. I got names and address for all of them."

I opened the envelope, seeing that Kev had everything I needed. I gave Legacy and Marco the list of all the hittas and their addresses, with orders to take all those muhfuckas down. Me, King, and Kevin would handle Lucky our way. This time he won't make it back to Atlanta.

CHAPTER 25: BROKEN HEARTS/STREET SYMPHONY

Legacy

It was one in the afternoon when I arrived back at the house. After Killa let us know the plan for how everything would go down, I went riding around the city tryna clear my head. I walk in the bedroom to see Khy was still asleep. I smirked at the sight of her hand resting on her stomach. The twins coming soon seemed to be the only silver lining in the dark clouds that were hanging over us. It hurt me to know that Lyric and Legend will never get to meet their uncle and probably not even their big cousin.

My heart was heavy as I climbed in bed behind Khyia. Every time we find a lil piece of happiness, something or somebody come along and take it away. I pulled Khy close to me, kissing her head as I dozed off with revenge on my mind.

Khyia

I woke up wrapped in Legacy's arms and for the first time in over 96 hrs, I felt a small sense of peace. I was trying to be as strong as possible and trust me it ain't easy, considering the fact that I just lost my brother only hours ago. I sat up in the bed, picking up the picture from the nightstand and just stared at it.

"God how did things get this bad? First, my best friend is locked away and I lose a child. Then, my cousin tries to commit suicide by overdose, and not a full 72hrs later, my only brother is gunned down. What else is gonna happen God?"

Just as those words left my mouth, I felt Legacy jump and mumble in his sleep, making the twins kick. It's like they are in tune with him already, when he moves then they move. I look down at him and he had a stressed look on his face, even while he slept. I reach over and softly caress his face which seemed to relax him. His eyes opened and he looked up at me.

"What time is it?"

"It’s 7:30 why?"

"Just asking. How you holding up?"

"Better than expected. I still feel like it's not real until I close my eyes and I see him in the morgue. I can only imagine how Bria and the kids feel. I don't even wanna phantom how my mom is taking this."

"Killa say she in bad shape. I can't believe he gone, shit fucked up. Then Luke still fighting for his life. All this shit weighing me heavy."

I saw the tears forming in his eyes as he lay his head on my stomach. It hurt so much because we both basically lost a brother when Chi died. I placed my hand on his back as his tears hit my stomach. I still didn't understand how all of this had happened in a matter of hours, well days. I do know that Legacy and maybe even my dad knows who killed my brother. I won't question it now, but before it's all said and done, I will find out. For the rest of the night, we lay wrapped in each other's arms. We both needed to be close after the shit we've been dealing with.

One week later

I tried my best to comfort my mother as they lowered my brother into the ground. What would've been his 29th birthday turned into his burial day. Seeing his body lowered finally broke me as I fell into Legacy's arms, crying like a baby. I felt a soft touch on my shoulder, I turn around as my dad holds his arms open to me.

"He's really gone daddy! Someone took my brother from me!"

"I know baby girl, I know. I promise to do everything I can to make it ri-"

I just lay my head on his chest, watching Legacy embrace Bria in a warm hug and whisper something in her ear. He walked back over to me as my dad placed a kiss on my forehead, then went back to my mother's side. I took on last look at the spot where my brother now rests and smile softly.

Rest in heaven my love…

Legacy's been really quiet since we left the gravesite. It's like he's in another zone and it's starting to make me worry. I watched as he sat at the foot of the bed, firing up his third blunt and taking a long drag from it as he loosened the tie around his neck.

"Legacy, baby you-"

"Khyia, I really don't wanna talk right now. I got alotta shit on my mind."

"Fine, excuse me for trying to be here for your ass."

Before he could reply, his phone buzzed.

"Wassup Marco? Aight I’ll be ready in fifteen minutes. Aight bruh...one."

He ended the call then rose from the bed, walking in the closet. He stayed in there for about five minutes then walked out dressed in all black, slipping his Beretta on his waist. From the look in his eyes, I knew exactly what he was going to do, making the past few days of him neglecting me all the clearer.

I careful slid off the bed and stood in front of him, making him look at me.

"What's going on?"

"Just some business me and Marco gotta handle. I'll be back later, I promise."

"Legacy, what aren't you telling me? Don't dare tell me it's just some petty business 'cause I know it's deeper than that. Tell me now!"

"Khyia, do you trust me?"

"As much as I want to say I trust you, I’m afraid. You've kept me in the blind long enough. I have put up with the lies, the secrecy, your thirst for power, money, control; I have put up with the other girls, now this thirst for revenge."

"You made a million promises to be here with me, but you neglect me and your unborn every-"

"Khy, that's not fai-"

"No, you don't get to talk right now. I never in a million years would have thought I would be put in this position of where I am afraid to trust the only man I’ve ever loved, but you are making it so hard right now."

"Khy, just let me explain please."

"Legacy the only thing I want to hear from you is that you're not gonna walk out that door and leave me alone. Tell me that you're gonna stay here and comfort me in my time of need. Tell me that you're gonna forget that Marco called you and that you have that gun on your waist, and you're gonna hold me in your arms, telling me that everything is gonna be ok. Look me in my eyes, like you've done several times before, and tell me you aren't going to make me read about your death or receive a call in the middle of the night saying that you've been seriously injured in the streets. Legacy, tell me that I’m not gonna lose you to the streets because you love me too much and you don't want to see me heartbroken. Baby, please tell me that I didn't make a mistake leaving New Orleans and coming back here please."

I had a river of tears streaming down my face as I practically begged him to stay here with me. To leave the streets alone and do right for our family. My heart was literally breaking right before his eyes and I just wanted him to comfort me. Before he could answer, his phone rang again. He pulled it out of his pocket, looking at the screen.

"Legacy, please don-"

"A’Khyia, I love you and our children more than-"

"Then stay with us. If you love us, please walk away from this life and start over."

His phone rang again as he stepped closer to me, placing a soft tender kiss on my lips before he pulled back staring in my eyes.

"I’m sorry Khy, I really am. I hope in time you realize that I’m doing this to protect you and our children."

"Legacy please."

"I love you Khyia, I’m sorry."

Those were the last words he said to me and this was the last day I saw Legacy...
