I stand up and hug him. “We’ll see you then.” I turn and walk back to Bobby who puts his arm around me. Brad says goodnight to Jodi and leaves.

“Well I’m going to find my man. See you in the am.” She walks out the door closing it behind her.

Bobby looks down at me. “Are you still mad?”

“No just disappointed in both of you. So what did you two say to each other?” I am curious to know.

He leads me to the side of the bed and we sit. He takes the wine glass out of my hand and puts it on my nightstand then turns back to me taking both my hands. “I told him the truth. That I still love you and I’m going to try my damnedest not to hurt you again. That I want to spend the rest of my life with you and that I don’t have a problem with the two of you being friends as long as he’s not planning on making a play for you.”

“And what did he say?”

“That he will respect our relationship but if I fuck up again all bets are off.”

“And how did that go over?”

“I told him that was fine because I’ve waited a long time to get you back. I don’t plan on fucking up any time soon.” He releases my hand and puts his hands on my face and leans in giving me a sweet kiss. “I want to share my whole life with you and take care of you and have you take care of me. Please tell me we are still on the same page.”

I reach out to touch his face. “Yes, Bobby, I would love to share my life with you but we still have to go slow. I want us to build this so it can’t come crashing down on us again. I don’t think I would survive losing you a second time. And I’m not talking about the physical part of our relationship. I think we both know we won’t be able to slow that down, but you need to give me time to trust you.”

“You’re never losing me, baby.” He kisses me, not a gentle kiss this time but one that curls my toes. His tongue sweeps into my mouth exploring anything it can touch. He pulls me forward and I straddle his lap putting my hands in his hair. His hands go to my ass pulling me closer to him so I can feel his erection. I grind my hips against him moving my hands to his shoulders for leverage and opening my legs wider to get closer to him. He groans into my mouth then falls back onto the bed. I follow him down after pulling his shirt free from his pants. My hands find his skin as I push his shirt up. My hips are setting a rhythm trying to get to that explosion that I haven’t felt in so long. Damn skinny jeans I just can’t get close enough to him. I follow his shirt up with my mouth. Licking his hard abs feeling them quiver beneath me. God this man is built just for me, there isn’t a part of him I don’t want to taste. He grabs my hair and pulls me up to his mouth and plunges his tongue in my mouth then he pulls me back. “If you want to take this slow we need to stop now.” His breathing is labored and his eyes are closed tight. He grabs my hips and stops my gyrating.

I put my hands on his face. “Look at me.” He opens his eyes and I see the strain and the passion in them. “You’re right we need to stop now but not for the reason you think. I want you inside of me more than anything right now. But I don’t want to do this while I’m still tied to Stuart.” He starts to say something but I put my finger on his mouth. “Tomorrow night after I break up with him I will come home with you and we will finish this.”

He closes his eyes again. Kisses my finger and pulls me down on his chest. “I don’t want to push you. I can wait as long as you need me to.” He is running his hand through my hair.

I push myself up and look into his eyes. “You are not pushing me. I have wanted this for years too. I don’t want to wait anymore. I want to finally be yours.”

“Baby, you were always mine even when you were with someone else you were mine. It killed me when you were with that guy John in college. I wanted to be your first.” He moves my hair out of my eyes so he can see me. Do I tell him now that John wasn’t my first? How is he going to take the news that Brad and I did it that night? I don’t tell him now too much has happened tonight.

“We can’t change the past but we have a future now and that’s what I want to focus on, okay?” I lay back down on his chest listening to his heart. He hugs me close and I can hear him sigh.

“You’re right we can’t change the past but I do regret so much.”

“No regrets we’re here now and who knows what would have happened before. I just want to be happy now.” I relax totally against him. “Will you just hold me like this all night?”

“Baby, I will hold you like this for the rest of our lives.” I fall asleep with his promise in my head listening to his heartbeat.

Chapter Sixteen

The next morning I woke up still snuggled in Bobby’s arms. I can’t remember feeling so content or loved. I tilted my head up to look at his face and he’s already awake watching me, “Morning, beautiful. How did you sleep?” He smiles at me.

“Great! How about you?” I smile back and start to make circles on his chest with my fingers.

“I can’t remember ever sleeping this well. I may have to kidnap you at night so I can feel like this every morning.” He turns so he is facing me and starts to kiss me. It starts out gently just a brush over my lips. Then he licks the side of my mouth and I open up for him. He pulls me closer to him and moans as my stomach brushes against his erection. We had both taken off our jeans before getting under the covers last night so the only things between us are two thin pieces of cotton. He rolls me over onto my back and settles between my legs. He breaks the kiss and props himself up above me. I reach up and stroke his face feeling the stubble then move into his hair to pull him back down for another kiss. My panties are already wet and the feel of him pressing into me makes my clit throb. He stops again and pulls away. “I won’t be able to stop if we keep going like this. I want you too much baby.” He rolls onto his back with his eyes closed.

I turn his head to me. “We will finish this tonight.” I promise him.

He smiles. “Yes we will but don’t plan on it being fast. I want to taste every inch of that beautiful body.”

Just hearing him say that makes my panties wetter. I move to kiss him again when there is a knock on the door. “We need to leave in half an hour if we’re going to be on time for breakfast.” John says.

I turn away from Bobby and my feet hit the floor. “I have to jump in the shower.”

He watches me as I move around the room getting clothes to change into. “Maybe I should come with you so you don’t fall.” He chuckles.

I think I break my own record for taking a shower because I am ready to go with ten minutes to spare. Of course my hair is still wet but they are going to put it up at the salon anyway so I just put it up in a hair tie.

I walk into the kitchen and there is coffee. I love that John is always so thoughtful to make a whole pot. Everyone else looks ready to go as I make a travel mug for myself. “So what’s the plan for today?” Bobby asks.

“After the salon I should have just enough time to come back here and grab my dress and an overnight bag then go. Are you going to hang out and give me a ride in?” I smile at him.

“Sure what time do you think you’ll be back here?” he smiles back.

Jodi answers “We should be back around two-thirty or three.”

John looks at her like she’s crazy. “What could possibly take that long?”

Jodi and I both laugh. “Mani-pedi, waxing and an updo,” I say. Men have no concept what it takes to look beautiful.

“Don’t you want me to look beautiful?” Jodi asks John.

“Oh man you should quit while you’re ahead.” Bobby laughs. He gets up and puts his hands on my hips. “You take as long as you want, baby. I’ll just hang with John.” He leans down and gives me a kiss. “But you know you don’t have to do anything to look beautiful. You already are.”

I smile and Jodi turns to John and says “Are you taking notes?” Bobby and I both break out laughing at John’s expression.

He stands up. “Let’s go, I don’t want to be late.” He is practically stomping to the door.

I grab my bag and fish my keys out. We will have to take two cars to the diner so Jodi and I can leave directly from there to the salon. Bobby grabs my hand and takes the keys. “Can I drive?”

“What do you not trust my driving?” I realize he hasn’t seen me drive since I didn’t have my license yet when he left. “You know I have been driving for years now.”

“It’s not that I just don’t get to drive a lot around here and I really feel like driving. Do you mind?” I think it’s an excuse but I really don’t care it will be like old times with him driving.

“Fine but don’t think you’re going to be driving everywhere when we’re together. I like to drive too.” I turn on my heel and walk to the car.

He laughs at me. Ugh men are chauvinist pigs! Just because I had an accident when I still had my permit does not mean I can’t drive! I mean really my mom’s old Rivera was wider and longer than most SUV’s are now! And it was only a light pole in a deserted parking lot. You would think he would have forgotten that by now!

I get in the passenger seat and proceed to pout. I know real mature but it makes me feel better that he looks a little contrite when he gets in. He pushes the seat all the way back. “I like your car” he says meekly. “Uh thank you for letting me drive. I don’t get to do it much since Arthur pretty much drives me everywhere.”

Ok so maybe I was a little harsh but really it is my car and I usually only drive to and from the train station and on errands around town. And yeah he lives in the city so he probably doesn’t drive much. So I’m being a bitch. I should apologize.

“I have an Aston Martin. You can drive it out to the boat tomorrow if you want.”

Holy Shit! I’m gonna drive a James Bond car! I smile at him “I would love that. Thank you.”

“Anything for you, baby.” He leans over and kisses me lightly. I put my hand on his neck and deepen the kiss running my tongue along his lips. He opens for me and we make out for a few minutes before he pulls back smiling. “Let’s go get something to eat then when you get back we can continue this when Arthur picks us up.”

We’re the last ones to get to the diner. Jodi, John and Brad are already seated in a round corner booth. I slide in next to Brad and Bobby follows me. I give Brad a hug as I say hi and then he and Bobby shake hands. So far so good. The conversation flows and we talk about everything from high school to the upcoming pennant races. Both Bobby and I love the Yankees and he says he will get us tickets to a game. I don’t know if I can handle Bobby and Derek Jeter at the same time. My hormones might just overload. Jodi asks me about the fundraiser and if any sports stars will be there and I say yes but I don’t know who.

“Well if I remember correctly there are quite a few players from all the New York teams going to be there” says Bobby.

I turn to him. “How do you know?”

“Well my company has a table. I have a few friends from the Army who lost limbs that are involved in Paralympics. I wasn’t going to go but since you’ll be there I guess my plans have changed.” He smirks at me.

“And when were you going to tell me about this?” I poke him in the ribs.

“On the way into the city?”

“I’m not sure about this. It’s going to be awkward having you there when I’m with Stuart.” I look over at Jodi for help.

“I promise to be good as long as I get to dance with you a few times.” He puts his arm around me and pulls me close.

“You are going to drive me insane. You know that right?” I lay my head on his shoulder.

“Well this will be easier. You can break up with Stuart there where he can’t make a scene and then just come home with me.” He has it all figured out.

“You think she should break up with him at a public event, in front of his co-workers and his boss? Are you high?” Jodi asks him looking like she wants to throttle him as much as I do.

“She can take him out of the room. The bar is only a few steps away. It would just make sense that way she doesn’t have to go back to his place at all.” He makes it sound so logical but I can’t see myself doing it that way. I don’t want to hurt him unnecessarily and him having to go back to a party and explain to his friends why his girlfriend is leaving with someone else would just embarrass him.

“I don’t know, Bobby. I was planning on doing it in the cab back to his place. Then I could just let him out and then come to yours.” I like my plan better.

“I really don’t want you to be alone with him after you tell him you’re not seeing him anymore. It would be better to do it where you can just leave.” He looks over at Brad.

“He may be right, Lisa.” I turn to Brad. “You could wait until you’re ready to leave and suggest a drink at the bar first. That way his friends won’t be expecting him back and you don’t have to go anywhere with him.”

That sounds a little more doable than dragging him out and then just leaving him there. With other people around he is less likely to start pressing the issue and I can just walk out. “Yeah I think that will work.” I turn back to Bobby. “But you will not follow us in. You will wait for me in the hall. You got it?”

“I’ll wait wherever you want me to, baby, as long as you’re coming home with me.” He kisses my forehead.

The conversation turns back to what stars will be there and I’m not really paying attention. My mind is on me breaking up with Stuart. I have never broken up with someone. Bobby broke up with me. My college boyfriend John and I just knew we wanted different things and it was pretty mutual so this is the first time I will hurt someone. I am really dreading this thing now. How am I supposed to get through the whole night with this weighing on me?

We finish our food and Jodi looks at her phone. “We have to go or we’re going to be late.” She pushes John to let her out. “We’ll see you guys at home in a few hours.” She gives John a peck and waits for me to move.

Bobby slides out and I give Brad another hug. “Will we see you later?”

“I’m not sure yet. If not try to have a good time tonight.” He knows how difficult this will be for me.

“I’ll try.”

Once I slide out Bobby takes me in his arms and kisses me, “I’ll miss you, baby.”

I smile at him. “I will see you soon, babe,” I give him another quick kiss and Jodi and I walk to the car.
