“No
, mistress” he said finally
“I know very well what
’s the
mission I’ve been given”

Lilith smiled and stood in such a way that only
a few millimeters divided them.

“Wonderful. In this case…”
In a split second she jumped on Mikaela and pushed her to the ground
and then
she tore her throat off with her fangs.   A fountain of blood
covered everyone around as Lilith was greedily drinking
th
e blood of her former worshiper
and no one got do anything when she finished and looked at Morton with her eyes
still lusting for more blood
“ You won’t be needing her anymore. I’m your queen now”

Something erupted in Blake, maybe it was caused by
how much Mikaela  meant to him
or
maybe because he just realized
how Lilith used him. He clenched his fis
ts, hissed and attacked Lilith but
the vamp
i
ress  was to
o
quick and with only a slight movement of her hands caused him to fly thro
ugh the room and hit the wall.
Lilith
stood up and got closer to him
,
still pushing him against the wall.

“You fool,
how do you dare to oppose me?!”

Jacob, Aidan, Zack and Jonathan wanted to intervene
but suddenly Blake took one of the hanging knives and threw it right into Lilith’s heart.  The vampire goddess looked at the knife growing out of her chest, emitted a very high sque
al and faded away like a ghost. Blake fell on the floor and  was engulfed by sadness
o
nly being able to whisper the name
“Mikaela..”. Jonathan and Aidan helped him
to stand up.
During this occur
rence Paige and Carrie  where tightly clinging to Jay
but Carrie re
leased himself from his embrace
and walked towards the vampires.

“Will it hold her off for long?”

“Doubtful, although
th
e silver will hurt her a bit”
Blake
whispered.

“What now
? How do we finish her off?”
Jay
asked, petting the crying Paige.
Th
eir reaction was not surprising
since it was the first time they witnessed a real vampire attack.

“I am an exorcist
but I can’t do anything about it”
Rosenberg said
“Lilith is t
he oldest vampire on the planet
and
the
normal exorcisms will be useless”

“And what about
a wooden stake? A cross? A garlic
?  The sun? Holy wate
r?“
Carrie
asked.

“Eh
, kids… you
watched to
o many cheap horror films. The f
irst,
the
second and
the third one is bullshit. A wooden stake only paralyzes the
vampires, a cross and garlic only scare
them
but not kill
them. And it’s hours until the
sunrise. The only thing from those that could work is
a holy water, it works
on vampires like
a burning acid

Carrie nodded her head
deep down
, she was immensely frightened
but she tried to keep her temper
.

“So we have to go to the church. Hey
, what are you doing?” Jay asked,
looking at the five vampires who were following them
.

Jacob spoke
:

“Listen, Carrie. I know that
it’s a big shock for you three and that you hate us
and
you are scared
but Lilith is much more dangerous than we are, if we want to have a chance at defeating her
,
we need to stick together

The g
irl looked at him with
distrust. Maybe he deceived her but he’s right. Now they fought for survival
and
needed to help each other out. She looked at her friends,
who nodded their heads energetically, and sighed.

“Okay, you can come along”

Chapter 9

Half a cent
ury ago a small church was built
on the
suburb
of
the town
but after und
ergoing just a few restorations
it looked j
ust as it did in the old days.
The entry to it was guarded by a large stone gateway decorated in mysteri
ous runes
and the moonlight
was beautifully reflected on its large tower.
The sight
of it made Jonathan sentimental
as he always loved to admire the unique architecture of it before he entered it.

“It’s weird to look at it but
not being able to enter it” he said when all of them reached their destination
.

Carrie looked at him from the sides
.

“Why are you so sure of that?”

Blake laughed out loud
.

“Hello? Earth to Carrie. We are
the
vampires. We can’t enter a home of god. You should have known  that since you are such a vampire lover”

The girl pretended she didn’t hear that remark. She knew very well that
the
vampires couldn’t enter
the churches
but she had a much more serious concern on her mind – how to survive.

“Okay” she said “
Then I’m going to go there with Jay and Paige. We will be back
with the water in a few minutes”

She nodd
ed her head towards her friends
and they all ventured into the church
.

Carrie
never
was
a believer
but she had the outmost respect for C
hristian rites and traditions.
She knew that stealing
the
holy water w
as considered to be a deadly sin
but the present situation demanded
the drastic measures. Her life was at stake
and the girl decided that she’ll start worrying about her immortal soul
when
they defeat Lilith – if that will be possibl
e, she added in her thoughts.
It’s not that common for the mother of all demons to visit the earth to spread chaos and torment
.

It was
pitch dark inside of the church
and even the few ca
ndles which were lid on the alta
r d
idn’t seem to emanate any light. It looks
like in a horror movie, Carrie
thought
to herself, not at all amused by it.

“Does any o
ne of you have a flashlight?” she asked
and the echo resonated through whole church. Paige and Jay shook
their heads.
“And what about a ligthe
r?”
This time they nodded their heads and re
ached down into their pockets.
Carrie never liked
the fact that they both smoked
but this
time she praised them for it.
“Great
,
then go and light more candles so it will be brighter”

Once they did it, they
could see the entirety of the church clearly. The Stations of The Cross
hung on the crystal clean walls
and a pavement extended to the altar on which Paige and Jay
were standing
.  A very big cross with Chr
ist on it  was hanging behind them.
Carrie
was standing
between the entrance and a baptismal font filled with
the
holy water. She looked at her friends and said
:

“Now look for some bottles or containers into which we could pour the holy water.
Meanwhile
I’ll guard the entrance”

“Maybe we’ll find something in the sacristy. Jay, let’s go
to look”
Paige said
.

Carrie felt uneasy once her friends disappeared in a room to the right side of the altar. Ever since she was a child
,
she always hated churches and the cold, dead atmosphere in them.  She remembered the day she first went to
a
church and saw Jesus on
the cross
and cri
ed thinking it was a real man. Her mother  was
embarrassed by her and dragged her out of the holy buildi
ng. After this incident Carrie
never wanted to go to
a
church
again
as she was afraid that sh
e’ll also be crucified. I
n respons
e to that her mother hugged her
and tried to calm her down for three hours.
Now
Carrie was
adult
and kn
ew the story of Jesus very well but
the fear of holy places was stuck in her heart.

The girl looked nervously
at the door
and regretted that Jacob and his compan
ions couldn’t follow them here
and at the same time she hoped that they we
re patiently waiting for them.
She turned her head back
slowly
and took a
deep breath to relax herself.
For some odd reason the memory of the vision she saw after taking the
black crystal came to her mind
along with the erot
ic dream she had about Lilith.
Carrie threw those images away from her mind and opened her eyes…

… and screamed as she saw
the real
hell
.

The baptism
al font was filled with blood. The b
lood
was covering
whole interior of the church. It
was
even fl
owing
from the chandelier, creating a very big puddle on the floor. Carrie was disturbed
the most by the sight of Jesus on the cross
hanging
before a blood-covered altar.
E
ven though he was only a statue
she could see two bite marks on his neck out of which
the
blood started
flowing
.

The
feeling of fear rose even more
when the girl saw Lilith moving on the wall. The vamp
i
ress stopped near the cross and looked straight in
Carrie’s eyes.
She didn’t look like th
e alluring woman from her dream,
now she looked like a beast that co
uld jump on her in any moment. Her hair  was similar to a long mane
of a wild animal, her eyes were filled with
a fury
and her face was covered in
a fresh blood.
Lilith s
howed her fangs in a wild smile
and in that moment she didn’t resemble anything human.

Carrie felt that she was about to faint,
the
darkness started gat
hering all around her
and everything started
spinning.
A
scream emanated from her throat
and she closed her eyes so hard that
the
tears dripped across her
cheeks.  She slowly moved back
and lost her ba
lance. She didn’t feel any pain when she f
el
l
on the stone pavement. She drifted away into nothingness, away from this horror.

Jay and P
aige s
earched the sacristy thoroughly
and found
only
one bottle
wh
at
meant that only one of them could pour
the
holy water on Lilith
.
Paige
was a bit innerved by that fact
and wanted to get out
of the room,  go back to Carrie
and go back outside. Suddenly she felt Jay

s touch on
her hand, she turned back and
looked into his eyes. She knew that he was also frightened.
