But then this year I met this amazing beautiful girl who I thought for sure would knock me back or rip my heart out as well because the minute I saw her I was done. My heart burst into life as I watched her hide behind the trunk of her car, with her big blue eyes and her dimple when she smiled. I looked around at him we both had tears in our eyes "Why would I hit you after that? It's her I want to knock into next week" he smiles at me brushing my tears away with his thumb "I love you" he whispers, my tears flow down my cheeks as I climb onto his lap, his tears are flowing too, I take his face in my hands and kiss them away. Pulling me tighter to him letting all his emotion pour out of him, the sound of his sobs rips my heart and I cry with him, for him and because I know all about pain and betrayal.
Knox is already asleep when I come to bed, he didn't really say much for the rest of the day. We watched a movie then he had a shower and went to bed, I watch him sleeping listening to his breathing. I can only imagine what he felt finding his father and girlfriend together like that, that is sick. What kind of dad does that to his son, no wonder Max and George warned me not to break Knox's heart.
Looking at him I move his hair out of his eyes, he mumbles something then puts his arm around me. I can see his eyelids moving rapidly, he must be having some dream. I can't help myself I kiss his eyelids one at a time, he hums moving closer to me "What time is it?" he whispers. Crap I didn't mean to wake him "Midnight". He groans, "Sorry darlin I was only meant to lay down for a minute"
Turning off the light I snuggling into him "its ok babe, go back to sleep" his arms close around me as he kisses my forehead "Thanks, I love you Bailey" he whispers. "I love you too Knox".
I wake the next morning at six am but I decide to stay in bed and not run today, Knox is still sleeping. He woke me a few times during the night mumbling and moving about, I think he was fighting with someone in his dreams his fists were balled for most of the night. Breathing a heavy sigh I slip out of the bed, grabbing my sweater and yoga pants I go down to the kitchen. I will make Knox breakfast today considering he has been spoiling me all this time.
My heart still hurts for him, I can't stop thinking about what he told me. My brain keeps stalling on one fine detail like a broken record "I was in a good place then, I was considering it" Just remembering those words hurt like hell. I know I have no right to hurt but it is hard not too, I am sure Knox did not like hearing about Brad but Fuck I was never thinking of marrying him. What if Knox did propose and then I came along, would he have looked at me in any way other than a friend or just some chick in the bar. That thought scares me, I didn't come here to find love but it certainly found me and I am happy it did. Knox is a good guy, probably the best I have ever come across.
Smiling to myself I start making the toast and poached eggs, I put everything onto a breakfast try then climb the stairs. Maneuvering the try through the door I nearly spill the coffee, as I move into the room Knox is still asleep. I kiss his face in quick soft kisses and watch him stir, he cracks open one eye looking at me "Mornin darlin" he puts his hands on my hips rubbing them slowly. "I have a surprise for you" standing up I bring over the tray of food. "Ta da" I sing as he sits up smiling "Breakfast in bed?" he asks with a raised eyebrow. "What did I do to deserve this?"
"Nothing, I just thought I would spoil you for a change" I say handing him his plate, he smirks at me shaking his head "Why are you smirking Knox?" "Because, you are the most amazing girlfriend in the world" he smiles. I skip across the room to him plating a big kiss on his lips "Thanks". We enjoy our breakfast in bed chatting about the upcoming Halloween party at Georges I offer to help Knox and Max decorate the bar today. "Yeah if you want to darlin I need to get some supplies from the party store by the mall so you can come with me"
I laugh "The mall huh? You sure you want to bring me in the vicinity of that place?" Knox throws a pillow at me "Yeah maybe you should stay with Max at the bar" "you are a mean boyfriend, I take it all back," I say with a mouthful of toast. We drag ourselves out of bed, getting ready to go into town, arriving at the bar by one o'clock Max is not there so Knox starts stocking the fridges while we wait. About twenty minutes later Max comes in looking annoyed.
"What's up Max?" I wave to him, he nods at me "Bailey" Knox looks up at him "What is it bro?" Max shakes his head "Nothing just had to listen to George all morning going on about how you are not sleeping at home these last few days" Max looks between us running his hand through his hair. It's funny seeing how they both have the same mannerisms "Why is he complaining? I still show up for work," Knox asks putting more beer in the fridge. Max just shrugs heaving a sigh "Who wants a coffee?" I pitch in they both look at me. Knox in question and Max in apology Sliding off the stool I head to Coffee Joe's leaving them to talk.
Walking into the coffee shop I see Red sitting at the window, if she says anything to me today I will end up getting arrested for beating the crap out of her but thankfully she just ignores me. "Boo" I hear in my ear, Paige jumps in front of me "Hey Paige what are you doing today?" she looks around the coffee shop "This is it, not much" I order four coffee's "We are decorating the bar if you want to help? I am sure the guys won't mind an extra pair of hands" she nods "Sure, sounds fun".
I pay for the coffees and we walk back to the bar, the door is locked so I use my foot to knock/kick it. Max opens it looking even more annoyed than before I left "Hey Paige" he greets her letting us step through. Knox is equally annoyed slamming bottles into the fridge, Paige and I exchange looks "Coffee is served" I say putting them on the bar neither Knox nor Max moves to take one. Paige and I slip off to the side "What's going on with them?" Paige asks looking between them, I shrug "I don't know but I think Max is taking heat for Knox staying with me" Paige is looking confused "Why would that be a problem?" I remind her about the warning Uncle George gave me about Knox's future "Ah so the uncle is causing trouble" leaning against the wall my head is so full of crap, I have all my own shit and now Knox has shared his demons with me but his uncle for some reason thinks I am going to ruin Knox's life.
Is this shit ever going to stop, Paige is looking at me "Don't ask" I groan as I watch Knox walk to the bar. Knox is drinking his coffee now but Max is messing around with some cables on the stage "Hey babe we can go if you guys need us to" I tell Knox as I slid between his legs, he plays with my hair before answering "No you can stay if you want but I think I will have to stay at home for a few nights" "Yeah I figured you would have to". He still looks annoyed but not at me.
Paige sits beside us "We can hang out if you want to Bailey, have a girls night" Max walks behind the bar "Just don't call us if you get into any shit I doubt we can rescue you tonight" Knox looks at Max in a what the fuck kind of way "So you guys are on lock down then?" I ask trying to lighten the mood. "Yeah darlin just tonight though" I nod smiling at Knox but I know this has something to do with his uncle and me. "Are we going to the party store?"
Max shakes his head "No its cool Knox and I will handle it, you kids go have fun" he says to Paige and I. Paige looks at him with a pissed off expression "Let's go Bailey we know where we are not wanted" she pulls me out of the bar with Knox coming after us. "Wait, you guys are wanted. Don't mind Max he is being a bitch" reaching up I kiss him "I will see you later text me and I will take you home to get your bike" Knox pouts "You don't have to go darlin honestly" Paige pulls me away "Bye Knox see you later" she calls waving behind her.
Paige and I go to her place for the afternoon "Hey do you want to come to the club tonight with me?" she is looking through her closet deciding on what to wear "Sure, how far is it?" she pulls out a black dress holding it up to her "The one in Marion, Glow" I root in her closet too pulling out clothes "Yeah, girls night. I'm in" I take out a blue and black leopard print skin tight dress "Here wear this" taking it she smiles "Good choice, now you".
"I have a dress at home for clubbing we can go back there and get ready" picking up my phone I text Knox that I am going home if he wants a ride up the hill. Paige grabs her dress and shoes putting them into a Louis Vuitton carry all. Walking back over to the bar "Hey who's gonna drive because that means one of us can't drink" I ask looking at her texting, she shakes her head "No I am getting a car to bring us, I am so getting drunk" we are both laughing walking into the bar.
"Hi babe, ready to go?" I look at Knox "Give me a sec" he calls walking over to the office. Max walks around the bar to me "I'm sorry Bailey I didn't mean to be an ass earlier I was just in a bad mood" I give him a hug "Its cool Max". He smiles at me then notices the bag Paige is carrying "Goin somewhere?" Paige lifts the bag smiling "Yes we are going to Glow, tonight" Max looks at me then laughs "Yeah we will see how that goes down" he walks into the office talking to Knox before they both emerge looking at us.
"So you are going to a club huh?" Knox stops a few feet from me with his arms crossed, Paige is glaring at Max shaking her head. "Wow Max what a tell tale" he just laughs at her while Knox still stares at me "Yes babe, you can't play with me tonight so Paige and I are hitting a club" He raises an eyebrow at me then looks at Paige, then over to Max who is chuckling "I won't flash the doorman, I promise" I say exasperated. Knox's eyes spring open wider "Now there is now way in hell you are going"
I speak slowly and calmly to him "Babe, don't tell me where I can and can't go" we are standing staring at each other for a few minutes until Max speaks up "Are we invited to go?" both Paige and I look at each other and shrug "If you want to but I thought you guys were on lock down?" Knox snorts, "like that ever stopped us".
"Ok fine you can come we will pick you guys up at eight thirty, text me your address" Paige says to them, Max grabs his phone and is beside her in a flash. Knox and I are still standing there with our arms crossed staring at each other. He smirks at me but I keep a straight face I can see he is loosing we hold out for a few more minutes "Ok you win Bailey" I jump into his arms laughing.
"Come on I need to beautify myself for my man" Knox drives us back to my house we kiss for a few minutes blending into one "Ok babe I will see you soon" I let him go waving as he pulls out onto the road. Running inside the house I call for Paige who is already in the shower, I put on some music jumping into my own shower. When I get out Paige is sitting on my bed looking at my photo frame, I smile "Hey do you want me to fix up your hair?" she nods still looking at my photos "Who is that?" she points at the picture, I look over my shoulder "Summer, Me and Roger" Paige smiles putting the picture down "You guys look great together"
I detect a hint of sadness in her voice, I walk over to her grabbing her hands "Makeup time" I walk back into the bathroom pulling out all of the new makeup Summer's dad sent to me when my phone beeps "Hey Paige can you get that?" I hear her laughing, "Bailey your boyfriend is such a dork" she calls out to me, laughing I ask her what he said. She calls out "Hey babe, what colors are you wearing I don't want to clash, kiss kiss," laughing I tell her to reply to him back, black, white and sparkles.
I curl my hair then brush it out into waves, Paige looks great in her dress and I gave her some bouncy curls. I put on my black swing short skirt with a white strappy tank that has rhinestones all over with a slit in the bottom to let my belly bling peek out "Hey Paige did you take out you're piercing?" "No why?" I shrug "Just wondering". Once we are ready we take photos with our phones Paige posts them to her social media page. While waiting for the car we do a few shots, it arrives to us by eight then at the guys house by eight thirty, "Wow this is the first time I have been here" I say knocking on the door, it opens to a sour faced uncle George he snorts at us then shouts up the stairs "Boy's your dates are here, doing it backwards huh?" Max and Knox thunder down the stairs grabbing wallets and watches on the way to the door. My mouth falls open, Knox has his hair slicked back with just a few pieces that fall into his eyes he is wearing black jeans with a maroon button down shirt. I can smell him from out here on the porch; I inhale deeply savoring his cologne. "Hey beautiful" he kisses me quickly.
Max is equally as hot he is wearing dark blue jeans with a white button down shirt, I see Paige fan herself and laugh. She smiles at me and we do a fist bump as we get into the car. Max got in first and helps Paige climb in, then me and Knox follows. We have a few drinks in the limo and snap more pictures then my phone beeps.
Paige: OMG!!! Max is hot!
Me: Yes he is you better jump on it!!
Paige: I will!!! lol
We both laugh out loud at each other, it takes about an hour for us to arrive at Glow as we step out of the car I see Knox tense. "You ok babe?" slipping his arm around me "Yeah it's just been a while" I nod understanding. Paige and I are in line with Knox and Max behind us, we are all talking waiting to get in when we hear a loud booming voice "Holy fuck, it's the Porter brothers" we all turn to see one of the door men walking our way. He grabs Knox into that one arm hug hand shake then Max "What you doing back in town?" they both smile and point to us "These two want to go dancing" Max answers.
The guy looks us both up and down then whistles slowly "Damn the Porter's do it again, um um mmm" Paige and I watch the exchange both Knox and Max look uncomfortable "C'mon bro's you don't need to wait in line" the door man announces opening the rope for us. We walk into the club and the guys say goodbye to their friend. Knox grips my fingers "Did I say how amazing you are?" he looks at me then kisses me. We all walk into the main dance floor it is already busy, Max offers to get the drinks as we stand by the bar.
