“Don’t be, baby.  Everything is perfect.  So, I’ll see you tonight then around six?”

“Sounds good.  Enjoy your lunch with Cade and tell him I said hi.  Oh, and that we need to hang out with them again.”

“I will, beautiful.  See you tonight.”

As soon as Rowan pushed the end button on his cell, Cade walked up.  He stood and gave Cade a hug then sat down and pushed the beer to Cade that the waitress brought just moments ago.  He knew Cade wouldn’t have a problem with him going into practice with him; he was more concerned with him worrying about him leaving the hospital.  After the waitress took their order, he jumped right in.  Rowan sat back in his chair taking a drink of the cold Corona in his hand.

“So, I’m going to just get right to this and not beat around the bush.  Is the offer for a partnership still open?”

Cade was taken aback by the question.  He’d been trying for years, hell, he’d tried even before they graduated from medical school, to get Rowan to go into practice with him.  He’d never wanted to give up his position with the hospital or walk away from the E.R though.  Cade was happy as hell that Rowan was finally coming around, but at the same time concerned for his reasoning.  Even when Erin started working for Cade, Rowan wouldn’t budge on leaving the hospital.  Placing his elbows on the table, leaning his chin on the backside of his hands, Cade took a moment before he spoke, then took a drink of the cold beer in front of him.  “My offer is always open you know that.  But before any decisions are made I want to know why now?”

Rowan knew he’d ask the question.  He’d been contemplating for days on how he could answer without Cade putting up a fight.  Cade had been Rowan’s best friend since they were kids and they’d always been straight shooters, it wouldn’t change now.

“Madison,” was his only response.

“Rowan-” Cade began to protest.

“Just wait, Cade, hear me out.”

Cade waved him on, sitting back in his seat, “Convince me this is a good idea.”

“It is.  I know Madison and I have been together for less time than Erin and I were, but this is completely different.  Cade, my dad told me a long time ago when I found a woman that made me proud to be a man and made me want to be a better man to hold on tight to her.  That’s how Madison makes me feel.  I never felt that with Erin or anyone else.  She brings out the best in me.  Every day that passes that I don’t get to spend with her is wasted time.”

“So, you’re talking marriage?  Rowan, I don’t think-”

“No, not marriage,” he interrupted.  “Not yet, anyway.  Can I see spending the rest of my life with her?  Can I see her having my children?  Can I see growing old with her?  Hell yeah, but I’m not ready for that yet.  What I am ready for is to be able to spend as much time with her as I possibly can,” he let out a sigh.  “I can’t breathe when she’s not around, Cade.  When I see her, it’s as if I’ve been holding my breath since the last time I saw her.”

“Damn, Rowan, you’re getting all mushy on me,” he teased.

“Shut the hell up,” he laughed.

“I get it man, I really do.  I feel the same way about your sister,”  Cade took a quick drink, “You realize these women are going to be the death of us, right?”  He said more as a statement than a question.

“What a sweet death it will be, though.”  He raised his beer to Cade, “To death by beautiful women.”  They both laughed as their bottles clanked.

During their lunch they worked out all the details of the change to take place in Cade’s office.  They both agreed Cade would explain everything to Tessa, because, honestly, she’d take the news better from Cade than Rowan, and he really didn’t want to have to try to convince his sister it was a good idea.  Even though he was the big brother, she was great at lecturing him, especially since the catastrophe with Erin.  That part of his life was over now and he was looking forward to what the future held for him and Madison.

They finished up, Cade headed back to the office and Rowan headed to the flower shop.  Last time he’d walked out of this flower shop, he had a dozen purple lilies that he never got to see Madison enjoy.  Today called for something a little more romantic.  He had about four hours to get ready for her and he wanted to make sure he did everything right tonight.

Chapter 23

Madison rushed home after work.  She was excited and nervous.  Rowan wanted to discuss something with her tonight, but she wasn’t sure what about.  He said not to worry, but she couldn’t help herself.  Everything was going so perfect with them, she was afraid it was all going to come crashing down.

She took her time in the shower, allowing the hot water to take away the tension of the day.  She also took extra care to shave.  She wanted to be smooth and to be smooth everywhere, so she made sure that her pussy was perfectly shaved.  She and Rowan hadn’t been intimate in over a month and she was ready to feel that connection to him, even if it meant she had to tie him to the bed and have her way with him.  There were so many things she wanted to try with him and when she overheard Nikki and another girl in the office talking about being tied up during sex, she thought it would definitely be something her and Rowan could try out.  Not necessarily tonight, but at some point.

Madison had a hard time trying to decide what to wear.  She never was very comfortable wearing a skirt, but tonight she wanted to try something a little different for Rowan.  She left her blue jeans hanging in her closet and grabbed the black mini skirt she bought on a whim her senior year in college.  Instead of putting her hair in a ponytail like she usually did, she let the long ringlets fall just below her shoulders.  She checked herself several times before she felt confident enough to walk out the door.  Dressed and ready for Rowan, she made her way to his place.

Rowan was as ready for Madison as he’d be.  He wanted this night to be perfect for them. He had soft music playing, a fire lit, candles glowing and strategically placed throughout, and the mixed aroma of lasagna and fresh roses filled the house.  He bought eight dozen red roses at the flower shop, spreading them throughout the house.  He wanted the night to be romantic for Madison.  He paced between the kitchen and the living room with a glass of wine in hand, impatiently waiting for her.  He stopped mid step when the door bell rang then set his wine glass on the coffee table.  He walked to the door, took a deep breath and opened it to her.  He had to force himself to take a breath when he saw Madison standing before him.

Rowan felt himself harden because of the beautiful woman in front of him. She was absolutely stunning.  Her beautiful raven hair framed her face, causing her hazel eyes to stand out.  She wore a white, short sleeved button up blouse that clung to her breasts and tapered to her waist, where it met a black mini skirt with a small slit running up her thigh and topped off with a pair of black stilettos which accented her beautiful legs.  He couldn’t move.  She was remarkable and he was awe struck.  Her voice brought him from his trance.

“Well, are you going to invite me in, or make me stand outside all night?”  She asked with a smile in her voice.

“Of course, you are coming inside.  You look amazing.  Damn, baby, you should wear a skirt more often,” he said as he hugged her.

“I’m glad you like it,” she whispered seductively in his ear.

“We aren’t going to get to dinner tonight, are we?”  He asked laughing before he placed a kiss on her lips.

“Not if I can seduce you enough to convince you to leave the food in the kitchen.”

“Well, you are off to a great start, baby.”

Madison really had no intentions of eating tonight.  The only thing she wanted to feast on was Rowan and she’d planned on doing everything possible to make that happen right now.  Rowan released her and stepped aside so that she could make her way in.  She was shocked to see the house set up so beautifully.  He had gone to great lengths tonight and her body relaxed.  She realized that she’d worried all day for nothing.  Certainly, he wouldn’t go to all this trouble just to break bad news to her.  The fire, the candles, and all the roses were overwhelming.  Like so many other things, no one had ever done anything like this for her.  She felt so incredibly special at this moment.  She closed her eyes when she felt Rowan press his body to hers from behind her wrapping an arm around her waist, pushing her hair off her neck and placing gentle kisses on her bare skin.

“Do you like it?” he whispered against her ear, nipping at her lobe.

“It’s beautiful, Rowan,” she turned in his arms gently gripping the back of his neck.  “Why did you do this?”  She asked, amazed at the man standing before her.

“I wanted you to understand how important you are to me, Madison.  You deserve so much more, but this is a start.”

Madison pulled his mouth down to hers, kissing him deeply, passionately.  She wanted him now; she really didn’t care about the food or what he had planned on telling her.  All she wanted was to feel him buried deep inside her, to feel that connection that she was missing for the last month.  He pulled away from her.

“Wait right here,” he quickly made his way to the kitchen, pulled the lasagna out of the oven, turned it off then just as quickly returned to the living room.

Madison stood in front of his fireplace with a rose in hand.  Rowan felt his chest clench.  She affected him so strongly in so many ways.  He walked over to her as Brian McKnight’s voice flowed from the speakers, singing Back at One.  He turned her to face him, pulling her into his arms.  He kept his gaze on her as they swayed to the music, cupping the nape of her neck, holding her hand to his chest.  He softly kissed her lips, moving his kisses from her mouth to her neck.

Madison’s head tilted to the side giving him better access as they continued their dance.  His breath against her skin sent a shiver down her spine.  She felt her nipples harden and a fire ignite between her thighs.  Her fingers slid into his hair, holding his head against her skin.  Rowan pulled his head back.

“I want you, Madison, more than I’ve wanted anything in my life.  More than I even want to take my next breath, I want you.”

Those simple words were all Madison needed.  She placed her hands on his chest, gently pushing him into the chair that sat closest to the fireplace, then taking two steps back away from him.  Madison’s fingers trembled as she released each button on her blouse slowly, seductively keeping her eyes locked with Rowan’s.  She knew he loved to watch her undress and she wanted to give this to him.  Sliding the shirt from her shoulders, she let it fall to the ground.  Rowan seated himself on the edge of the chair, motioning to her with his forefinger.  Smiling, she walked to him, placing herself between his legs.  His fingertips slid up her calves to the backside of her thighs.  When he reached her ass he inhaled deeply, closing his eyes.

“Madison, you don’t have any panties on,” he said with a ragged breath.  It  took all the control he could muster not to throw her to the floor.

Madison smiled seductively as she pushed him back, slipping her bra off then unzipping her skirt dropping the black material to the floor.  When she bent to take her shoes off, he placed his hands on hers.

“Leave them on please,” he simply stated.

Madison’s pussy grew even more wet, when he ran his fingertips against the skin of her inner thigh until he reached her smooth mound.  Sliding his forefinger between her folds, he wet his finger with her juices, then placing it between his lips sucking her taste from his finger.  Seeing him taste her that way turned her on in a way she had never experienced before.  Rowan stripped off the blue polo as he stood before her.  He kissed her mouth, giving her a taste of herself on his tongue as he unbuttoned his slacks, pulling them off along with his briefs.  He backed her to the middle of the living room, grabbing the back of her head and taking possession of her mouth.  Madison’s hands roamed from his chest to his abdomen, enjoying the feel of each ripple as his fingers caressed her wet hot pussy.
